About the Hotel

Umaya Resort Belize, formerly known as the Belize Ocean Club is a beautiful full-service deluxe resort located on a 78-mile peninsula in the southern part of Belize on Maya beach. The resort has rooms overlooking the peaceful lagoon and distant Mayan mountains or overlooking the blue Caribbean Sea. The first of the new dining options, The Clubhouse, is a farm to table restaurant facing the lagoon with sunset mountain views. It offers cuisine rooted in Mayan and Garifuna Belizeans traditions. FYAH, named from the local dialect for fire, presents food cooked over an open flame grill, with both deck and barefoot in the sand seating options for a selection of parrillada and tandoor food. With the largest living barrier reef off its shores, Umaya Resort & Adventures is putting a focus on diving experiences, including the creation of an onsite dive certification program. The management team has also created unique new excursions for adventure travelers both at sea and in the nearby jungles and Mayan ruins of Belize. In addition to the offsite excursions, Umaya Resort & Adventures launched a variety of weekly cultural and gastronomic events such as Beer &Curry Night, serving original Indian dishes prepared by Chef Subu from Chennai as well as Best of Belize, highlighting local Garifuna cuisine and music.

Reviews for Umaya Resort & Adventures

Overpriced and not worth it.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The resort is insanely expensive and the poor is not worth the inflated prices. The resort failed to inquire about any allergy issues before preparing food, which was bland to say the least. Very far from the local stores and restaurants. Staff served us the same snack three days in a row and worst of all we couldn’t use their bicycles after 5 p.m., as if we didn’t have all our luggage inside the room. Would not recommend to any tourist and even more so locals. Save your time and money and stay somewhere else.

Amazing Umaya Resort!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Amazing experience at Umaya resort! This was better than described! The staff went above and beyond to make my stay a great one! Even helping arange my hopper flight! Ryan went out of his way to sort a day tour for me last minute and then came and met with me poolside to explain it all! Everyone from the workers to the kitchen staff, servers, cleaners to the pool people truly care and take pride in the resort and their guests. It was so clean and the suite was spacious! A very laid back atmosphere and great amenities! Location was ideal! Such a great value for all I received! I’ve had such an amazing experience. I can’t wait to go back. I Highly recommend if you want a place to go and recharge, enjoy some sun, outdoor activities, shopping pool and more. The food was also incredible. Eating at this resort was more than a meal. It was an experience. This is a hidden gem in Belize!

Short break to Placencia

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with the family, it was perfectly set up for our stay. We were close to the main pool and beach. We had a comfortable sleep. The pool bar stopped serving snacks earlier than advertised. The staff overall were friendly.

Great place

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

It was a great trip. I went there to celebrate my 60th birthday and I had family and friends from all over the world come and enjoy a great birthday bash. Edison in the food and beverage area was awesome, Ryan at the front desk made everything seamless. Steve, the general manager made himself available. I will stay there again and recommend that you all stay there as well.

Great Second Visit to Umaya

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

This was our second visit to Umaya. We were also there in July 2024. All staff were friendly and helpful. We appreciated the twice-daily shuttle to and from Placencia Village. We stayed in a two bedroom villa and were very comfortable. The villa had a large deck with two hammocks. A wonderful place to relax!
