Umaya Resort Belize, formerly known as the Belize Ocean Club is a beautiful full-service deluxe resort located on a 78-mile peninsula in the southern part of Belize on Maya beach. The resort has rooms overlooking the peaceful lagoon and distant Mayan mountains or overlooking the blue Caribbean Sea. The first of the new dining options, The Clubhouse, is a farm to table restaurant facing the lagoon with sunset mountain views. It offers cuisine rooted in Mayan and Garifuna Belizeans traditions. FYAH, named from the local dialect for fire, presents food cooked over an open flame grill, with both deck and barefoot in the sand seating options for a selection of parrillada and tandoor food. With the largest living barrier reef off its shores, Umaya Resort & Adventures is putting a focus on diving experiences, including the creation of an onsite dive certification program. The management team has also created unique new excursions for adventure travelers both at sea and in the nearby jungles and Mayan ruins of Belize. In addition to the offsite excursions, Umaya Resort & Adventures launched a variety of weekly cultural and gastronomic events such as Beer &Curry Night, serving original Indian dishes prepared by Chef Subu from Chennai as well as Best of Belize, highlighting local Garifuna cuisine and music.

Great resort. Comfy beds, great food, friendly service, beautiful views. Just watch yourself on the beach, you can get yourself cut if your not careful

The hotel was lovely. Our five person family stayed in one of the very nice villas, 3 bedrooms with full kitchen, right on the beach. The pools were great. The pool bar and restaurant were intermittently staffed, but the main restaurant was always open. The hotel restaurant food was good. The hotel was far from town, but they offered two free shuttles to Placencia in morning and early afternoon. They also have bikes and kayaks you can use for free. The hotel is a little isolated and placencia was very quiet.

This is a more American style place as in the rooms are large suites, w massive balconies. We stayed ocean side where the pool and pizza shop are. Across the road is the upscale restaurant, fountain, desk, & spa. Both sides have a dock and bar. They will help you book day tours and gave us a ride to the airport. Tons of places to take photos, lovely night lighting. You can get a day pass if you dont stay on the property. We went back to the restaurant this April for the amazing mole chicken and great sunset.

Umaya is MY resort! My gosh what an amazing experience! Great service, great shuttle rides and great hospitality! The view and the beach was great! The massages (get the deep tissue) was to die for! Marcella was a great masseuse and I would recommend her services in a heartbeat! Would recommend 10/10! Such a professional! Plus eat at the restaurant one night, their goat is really good!

We went to this hotel on Monday, and the views and and the location are really nice, but that’s it, the service in the hotel is less than nothing, the staff is rude, we asked for drinks as soon as we got there and the answer we got was “we are closing we can’t sell you anything” then at dinner the next day we asked for drinks and they said only water and nothing else because they were closing soon, and a friend of ours had a wine bottle and asked if we could bring it because they didn’t have drink and they were going to charge us for it, nice place but staffs need urgent attention, the rooms have bats and don’t let you sleep at night, the room cards sometimes won’t work and guess what the staff is not very polite to help you, terrible experience
