Started by being told the balcony room we paid for was actually a patio on the ground floor. Disappointing since it wasn't what we expected, but whatever. Walked into the room and there was a stain on the comforter that looked like blood. It was on the corner of the bottom so we just ignored it since we were so jetlagged and figured housekeeping would just get it the next day. Then when housekeeping came the next day they just covered the stain with the spare blanket instead of changing it out! The pool had scum along the corners and edges, and scum growing in the ground if the changing rooms. Each night we were there there were LOUD slamming doors every 15-20minutes waking us up into the night (3:30am). We were at the end of the hall so not many guest rooms around us, no idea what that was. Anytime we tried to call reception to book a taxi, find out where the restaurant the Morrison Room at the hotel we were going to was (as the map they gave us didn't even have it labeled) we had to call many times to get through. The worst was when we ordered room service, which arrived 30min later than the longest expected time- must've been sitting out since the soup was cold and the ice cream was melted. The card said to dial 5 when we were done for someone to clear the tray. Called every 5-10 minutes for 2 hours with no answer, by which point we were so annoyed and needed the space so we just left the cart in the hallway. If the hotel was 1/2 the price this would be 3 stars at best. For this price point it was absolutely ridiculous. It's one redeeming quality is that breakfast and the Morrison room food was fantastic.

Didn’t have the stay I was expecting given its status as a 5 star resort. Had an issue booking experiences, which were the reason we chose the property. Then our balcony deck boards broke, with my wife’s foot going through the board. Sometimes it felt like the waitstaff forgot about while seated in the bar or restaurant when things picked up. At one point, I waited 45 mins between drink orders. The staff was incredibly hardworking and tried to right the wrongs, but still far from what I was expecting. Seem a bit shortstaffed and/or undertrained. But for the work ethic of the staff, would definitely have rated the property lower.

Went to bar was told they didn't serve food, when we saw others with food, so asked again and got the menu. Told reception on leaving and was made to feel our fault just excuses and not listening. Paid for Morrisons restaurant €30 extra for wagu beef which was chewy and left on side, when mentioned was told well you cleared the plate. Breakfast orders got wrong and getting seated was an experience in itself. Awful/No service, wouldn't go back not my usual Fairmont experience. That said Liam on the door was friendly helpful unlike the other definate training needed. 5* hotel but 1* service

Myself and my friends recently booked in for the New v old wine tasting experience in Carton house. The experince was excellent from start to finish! We were so well taken care of by our sommelier Anastasia who was so knowledgeable on the wines and region's! It was a wonderful afternoon and I look forward fo returning to the hotel soon for another visit.

Myself and my wife attended a wine course on a Sunday evening , our Host sommelier , Daniel was top class and gets a 5 star rating , the problem was when we went into the bar , we got our first drink but despite the bar being fairly quiet we just could not get anyone attention to get another drink , when paying the bill I said we would have had another drink if we could have got served and the waiter just shrugged and said sorry , 5 star hotel , 1 star service , but the wine. Course was excellent
