Last minute option due to all surrounding hotels being booked from Dublin to Naas, at 10pm this was my last option other than the Car, so had to fork €260 Euros for a room only, which is not an issue, however on check in the Receptionist insisted to take and extra €100 Euro's payment to cover extras which again is understood, however wouldn't provide a formal receipt therefore expect to have an issue in the morning. I then enquired about room service as it was late and understood restaurant would be closed, immediately the girl told me its closed and no bar food or room service available, however she was quickly corrected be her colleague who confirmed if I dialled 5 on the room phone I could still order room service. Therefore went to my room and immediately placed an order for a basic dinner Pizza and Chips, not exotic or 5* however just something simple. Well that was a 10:30pm, which I was advised it would be 20 minutes, however lost in my work I realised it was 11:20pm and still no food nor drink, so called to reception to be told they are just pouring my drink and everything would be with me momentarily, 11:40pm my food and drink finally arrived, accompanied with an almost €56 bill to sign. Ok I thought rather steep for a handmade Pizza Chips and 2 pints of Guiness however 5* hotel so ok is what it is. Final straw has come about to this complaint - the Chips are stone cold as clearly been left out and the food forgotten about, the Pizza actually is either a basis one from a local takeaway ( at best ) in reality tastes like a Pizza you'd find in the Frozen food isle at Lidl, barely worth €3 let alone €20+ euro's, I should have realised there was going to be issues upon check in when the girl at the desk looked down on me as I wore Jeans and a Polo Shirt, however what she fails to know or failed due to pre-judging is that I am a Managing Director of a high net worth multi million GBP company, just because I don't dress in a suit or waste money on over priced label brands, she pre-judged me on what I wore late at night after spending the whole day mentoring and training customers. I was looking to bring some friends over to this area for a golfing holiday later this summer, however based on this experience I will be looking elsewhere. From what I can tell the Hotel location and in the main looks stunning, however the quality of service / food / price of very poor quality food is absurd, the room again looks on the face of it looks nice however clearly is dated and in need of refurbishment, as dirty skirting boards poorly fitting carpet, Faulty TV as keeps wanting to update, ordinarily I would say €260 for a nights stay wouldn't be so bad, however the over charge for Substandard 2* food that was told would arrive in 20 minutes, that took over an hour, and when it arrived was cold has left a poor taste let alone the attitude of the receptionist so I will not be a returning customer and will take my money elsewhere. This is written from my Hotel room this evening 20th May 2025.

Carton House is always a highlight for my international students. From the historic public rooms to enjoying afternoon tea or a picnic by the tower, every visit is special. On that note the Carriage house puts together the most amazing picnic baskets, an absolute treat. The beautiful grounds and peaceful walks offer the perfect blend of culture and nature. A must-see for anyone experiencing Ireland!

I visited the carton house pantry I went with a friend after a fabulous walk in carton house and we went to the little cafe for lunch On arrival on the inside quite nice and pleasant and went to order and there was 3 girls working there I wanted to order a tuna melt to which I was told quite bluntly none left and the girls were asking did we want ice with one of the drinks and we said yes but none arrived and when we went outside the place was just dirty and very Just untidy very disappointed with the service available very rude and just not bothered staff to give us a good experience. We all work hard and I was so disappointed in the service and hopefully it was an isolated incident and it’s not like this all the time . It looked to me perhaps the person in charge was maybe on a break and the girls there just had no motivation to do a good job . Service appalling

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The decor the cleanliness the luxury the staff the grounds, this is what you call a real 5 star hotel. It is comfortable and classy and it is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed in. I brought my boyfriend here for our anniversary and it was perfect. It is so romantic and you really do feel special staying here. If you have been thinking about coming here, definitely add it to the list, you won’t be disappointed.

Swimming pool was absolutely filthy and is a disgrace. The changing rooms weren't much better with heads missing off taps and showers constantly leaking leaving black stains down the tiles. The leisure centre is a million miles from 5 star barely 2 star at best.
