In this five-star luxury hotel in Megève, authenticity meets with the exceptional, offering elegance, calm and distinction. Les Fermes de Marie is made up of authentic alpine farmhouses, rescued from ruin high up in the hills of the French Alps. These buildings, were taken apart beam by beam, numbered and put back together piece by piece in a 3 acre park in the heart of Megève. Enjoy a getaway in a place full of history where every stone, every beam, every object tells a story.

Quoting the hotel website: “On Saturday evening, our team comes alive around the fireplace! Every week the brooch is in the spotlight: steak and crozets gratin, free-range chicken or even game when the season comes... a feast for the eyes and the palate!” We were guests at the hotel, for dinner we booked at 9pm. When we arrived the table was not ready and it became available at 9:15pm. We spent the 15 minutes telling our friends how fantastic was the steak and crozet gratain which was the reason why we booked in the first place. When the waiter arrived (the same waiter that seating us suggested the steak!) we were informed that the everything from the fire pit was sold out…! Too many people and therefore the main attraction and the very reason we booked the table was over…only the a la carte menu was available. In other words you manage a five star hotel main restaurant that prides itself of the Saturday fireplace and you run out of food… But there is more, when I complained there was not a hint of acknowledgment that this a major default and seemed like this was absolutely normal. Please Imagine any restaurant in any five star hotel luring you for dinner with a special meal and then running out of food. That’s exactly what happened. There were no excuses, we were made feel like we were complaining for something unreasonable. Not any attempt to offer a bottle of wine or a dessert to make up for the issue. Besides this event my sense is that the hotel is becoming a bit cheap and it nickels and dimes. Furthermore, owners need to traine their personnel in customer care skills.

The room has outdated décor, the bathroom has no walk-in shower, poorly designed kettle and coffee machine location, winter duvets in summer ??, balcony layout unconfortable, restaurant prices are out of this world for what you get, etc etc Overall super disappointing and absolutely not worth it. What a shame !

Over rated hotel, super expensive for what your get … no air conditioning on a hot summer day, you can’t sleep … to top it off, heavy comforters and rough sheets … no separation and privacy from the living and bed area to the bathroom which is not acceptable ! This hotel run by a super wealthy local family and is advertised as being cosy and mountain family oriented charming property which can be appealing to an European crowd but NOT to an American crowd ! It lacks luxurious amenities for the high nightly rates and the restaurant food prices are outrageously high, food quality is just alright and portions are small !!! Overall, disappointing, better spending a bit more and head to the Four Seasons !!! No doubt !!!

Would place this between 4 and 5 stars. Room was spacious but a bit dark as others have noted. There is no AC which is fairly normal in the area, a fan helped, but on a particularly hot night can be a bit uncomfortable. Breakfast was exceptional with lots of variety, excellent bread. Dinner was good with the highlight being the dessert and cheese buffet afterwards, both had lots of choices and were exceptional. Would stay again if in the area.

Nice spacious room but very dark. We've to try to switch on every possible lights. No air con, so get ready to be baked at night. I particularly love the area where your clothes hang (lots of hangers) and space. Bathroom is spacious and easy to operate. Fitness room only starts at 7am. But you can ask the nice front desk man at 6am to open for you. Don't bother negotiating with the front desk ladies, they won't help no matter how much charm you try. Couldn't use their steam room, swimming pool as it was SO PACKED at 5pm. Best to come at off-peak season and not in Summer (SO HOT). Breakfast is nice, so is dinner. But service very slow at dinner as they couldn't cope with the crowd. Good location to centre city.
