A terrific 3-night points stay with a suite upgrade award and Globalist perks. We loved every aspect of our stay. This is exactly the sort of redemption we dreamed of when accumulating all those points. For context, we traveled with two large suitcases for a several week trip Down Under. This shaped our view of room sizes and bathroom counter space. Things we liked: - Great room. Huge, modern, clean, well-appointed and maintained. More than enough room for our gear. Walk-in closet. - Luxury bathroom, with jetted tub, tons of counter space. - Great location. Very central to CBD, mass transit, most Melbourne attractions. Not really our thing, yet in the heart of the fanciest designer stores in Melbourne, so a nice neighborhood. - A club lounge, noting those are increasingly rare in the Hyatt portfolio. Club access for Globalists or purchased is worth it. It includes a nice breakfast buffet in the lounge, or the option to buy up to the very fancy and complete buffet in the restaurant for $25. We found the former met our needs just fine. A reasonable selection including hot items. The bigger perk is evening drinks and canapes. The food is “heavy hors d’oeuvres” that one could make a meal of if so inclined. They were creative, tasty, and varied each night. Really top-notch club that harkens to the heyday of loyalty lounges. - 5-star full service in every regard. - Free valet parking for Globalists on points stays. Otherwise parking a car is $90 AUD/day, which appeared typical of car parks in the area. For us, a no-brainer to return. Everything was great.

Had a four-night stay recently at Grand Hyatt Melbourne. There are many positive things about this hotel. First of all, fantastic location—walking distance to trams, Federation Square, and many other things. It’s really at the heart of the town. Secondly, the service standard is consistent from the concierge and front desk to the restaurants. The team is friendly, efficient, and helpful. Thirdly, restaurants are pretty good whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner. However, what lets it down is noises due to the age of the building. I could hear every movement upstairs, bathrooms flushing from different directions and movement from service corridors. The hotel people mentioned renovation will start soon. Happy to return when the rooms finish refurbishing.
