Grand Hyatt Melbourne

The club lounge was unfortunately the least enjoyable part of my stay. I encountered a few uncomfortable situations that suggested subtle, service-oriented bias. On one occasion, a staff member was warmly engaging with surrounding tables—introducing daily specials and desserts—but noticeably skipped my table. If such service is offered, it should be extended consistently to all guests rather than selectively. On another evening, my glass of wine was cleared while I briefly stepped away to get dessert. Instead of a simple apology, I was told that perhaps I had left my belongings and gone, which came across as dismissive. These may seem like small incidents individually, but together they reflect a lack of attentiveness and basic courtesy. I believe the hotel can and should do better in ensuring all guests feel equally welcomed and respected.

Great hotel in the best location! The hotel offers all the amenities you need, great bar and restaurant and fabulous customer service. My only criticism is the rooms are a bit tired and the cleanliness of the rooms needs to be improved.

I am currently staying here for 7 nights and thought I would complete a mid stay review. I have not been to Melbourne for over a decade but had stayed here in the past and enjoyed it. Therefore I decided to return, especially as it had a nice indoor pool, spa and gym, which I have used regularly before. The rooms are classic, the foyer is elegant, staff are helpful and efficient, and the buffet breakfast is very good. But. I think it is quite inappropriate that the hotel never contacted booked guests to inform them that the pool and spa had been shut and the gym relocated to a small area during renovations. At least this would have enabled booked guests to alter their reservation, if desired. Also the room allocated to me has no working desk and chair. There is no writing paper or envelops in the room. Furthermore, almost everything operates on QR codes, which maybe ok for the young techo-savvy, but I am not one of those, and I think there would be many older guests, [those who can afford to stay at a hotel of this price range] such as myself, who feel the same. Regrettably the in-room entertainment system is negligible, even miserable, except for free to air TV and casting, another thing requiring some degree of techno-savvy. Having just come from Adelaide where I stayed in another 5 star hotel for 9 days, which had an extensive system of on-demand international TV and movies and a nice indoor pool, spa and good sized gym I am somewhat disappointed. I believe some recognition of the temporary changes should be reflected by the hotel

Our recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne was nothing short of outstanding, especially as Hyatt members. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and valued. The staff were a true highlight—every interaction was met with warmth, friendliness, and a willingness to help. It’s rare to experience such consistently cheerful and attentive service across all areas of a hotel. The room was beautifully presented, combining comfort with a sense of understated luxury, and the location is absolutely perfect for enjoying everything Melbourne has to offer. Overall, this was a fantastic stay that reinforced why we continue to choose Hyatt. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend it to others.
