First time staying at a Grand Hyatt after hearing some good recommendations but it didn't live up to expectations. The best part was probably the breakfast, one of the best I've had in Australia for hotel stays. The let downs unfortunately were numerous. 1. Upon check in I was advised check out was 11.00am, I had already confirmed when booking for late check out for 1.00pm which was on the booking 2. No doorman, I thought this was a 5 star hotel?!?! This did not make you feel valued walking into a 5 star hotel and did not create a good atmosphere. Although the gentlemen where you drop off your vehicle for valet was very friendly and greeted you with enthusiasm each time you saw him 3. The pool was straight from the 80's or the playboy grotto. It was not maintained at all, it was clear why there was no one else was in there. The water line you can see the tiles are all stained and as soon as I realised the state of the pool got out. The pool firstly needs to be deep cleaned including surrounding areas and also it is overdue for renovation 4. The room was good but the speaker in the room had static the entire time we were there which disrupted our sleep. The window was also very dirty and not cleaned. 5. There was also a lot of plumbing noise in the room which kept us up. You can hear when someone is in the shower with water running or flushing the toilet! The only other good thing is the location of the hotel close to the sports precint. I would be open to staying again for future sporting events and hopefully the service and facilities is improved by then.

My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. There were only two areas that we were disappointed with and they were relatively major. 1. The spa bath that we paid extra for has hot and cold taps that basically didn't work. The cold came out hot for multiple minutes which made it very difficult to get the right temperature. We filled up buckets of cold water from the shower to reduce the heat after my wife nearly burnt her feet! 2. The king bed is in castor wheels that don't lock. I've never experienced this in a hotel and it made the bed uncomfortable. All other parts of our stay was amazing and the breakfast delicious and an enjoyable experience. Location was perfect. But those two notes above will mean we won't choose the Grand Hyatt again in a rush.

If you want somewhere that guests are the number one priority and made feel very welcome, this is the place. Perfect location for a conference. Easy to get to. Valet parking was excellent. Room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Bath was very very relaxing. Bed felt luxurious. Room Service was brilliant and great choice of food. Food at the conference was divine.

Brilliant location for most of Melbourne's attractions. Very stylish hotel with good sized well equipped rooms. Lovely view spanning from the MCG to the skyscrapers of the Southbank - our 25th floor windows were filthy on arrival but thet were cleaned while we were there ! Only downside was sleep was interrupted each night due to clunking noises and doors closing from adjacent rooms. However, this was more than made up for by the absolutely stunning breakfast selection. Shout out for Nick on the desk downstairs.
