Crap

Not our usual hotel in Melbourne but here for a conference so have it a go given so close to the convention center. What a mistake!!! So I had a club room with additional benefits (that I paid for), the club was great, I was in and out all day given the conference, Asian guy during the day was fantastic, old guy at night was disgraceful. They did turndown 1 out of the 3 nights, didn’t bother filling the minibar, didn’t replace water, didn’t replace basic provisions like coffee in the room, called and asked for coffee for the room and told will bring right up and didn’t bother turning up (so had to go and buy a coffee). Ordered room service and it was stone cold. The list goes on but instead of wasting my time and yours would just suggest you avoid this hotel.

Good hotel in central location

Our room was clean and spacious. It also had the view of the Yarra River. Hotel located next to outlet village. Breakfast was good and service for hot drinks was great. Staff helpful and friendly. Good location for visiting Melbourne.

Outdated Hilton Paint Job – Lazy Service, Disgusting Breakfasts

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Pan Pacific Hotel looks like it’s had better days. It’s obvious it was once a Hilton—it honestly feels like they just grabbed a few buckets of paint, painted over the Hilton logos, splashed a Pan Pacific logo on, moved some furniture around, and voilà, suddenly it’s Pan Pacific. The whole place is dated and tired looking and really needs work. Some rooms have amazing views, but the floor plans are awkward—very awkward. The staff is nice enough but lazy and disengaged. When I arrived, there was no valet, no one outside to greet me, no one to tell me where to put my car. I had to double park, run in, and ask. Parking itself is horrible—you have to park in the convention centre, which is a long walk and a total hassle. The hotel is also light years away from the CBD, making it a pain to get anywhere other than just around the South Bank shore. The CBD is at least 2 kilometers away from this place—do not be fooled by claims it’s “downtown.” If you need a taxi on a weekend night, good luck—the pickup area is jammed up in the convention centre turnaround and it’s a mess. Housekeeping was a nightmare. They barely did anything—just made the bed and tossed in a couple of towels. That would be fine if this was a roadside motel, but it’s supposed to be a 5-star hotel. Now for the food: The downstairs buffet breakfast is absolutely horrible. I’m talking disgusting, gross food that wouldn’t even meet 7-Eleven standards. Honestly, I’d rather eat Krispy Kreme, grab something from 7-Eleven, or even have McDonald’s than pay $50–$60 for their so-called buffet breakfast. It’s a joke. Upstairs in the club lounge, breakfast is slightly better, but even there, it needs major improvement. They seriously need to do better. I know Australia has this laissez-faire attitude toward service and food, but not everyone staying here is Australian. People expect true Western international standards—not these lazy, lazy, lazy, lazy ways. Overall, this is not a 5-star experience. You’re paying 5-star prices for 2-star service and quality.

Clean and spacious.

We stayed 6D5N in Pan Pacific Melbourne. Our room was clean and spacious. It also had the view of the Yarra River. Just next to the hotel was the outlet mall where we could easily shop and have a quick bite. Only a small downside was the hotel was not in the CBD area so whenever we wanted to travel to the CBD, we had to take a 5mins walk to the tram stop at the bridge and take the trams into the city. We realised we were spending a lot of time in the CBD area so probably in future we would get a hotel in the CBD area only. However still great service and accommodation :) Truly enjoyed our stay here.

Best view in Melbourne

This was our second visit to Pan Pacific on a Luxury Escape deal. It did not disappoint again. The room with a view of the Yarra and the City was absolutely beautiful. The staff have to be one of the most friendliest in Melbourne. We even recognised staff from our last stay which was 8 months ago. We had dinner in the restaurant which was great quality and service. The buffet breakfast was great and very busy but very easy to navigate. Sparkling wine on check-in in the foyer was a lovely bonus. Can't wait to stay there again.
