WARNING to anyone staying at Pan Pacific — keep a very close eye on your bank account. I was effectively left without $929 of my own money for my entire weekend because of this hotel's failure to manage their billing process. At check-in a $929 pre-authorisation hold was placed on my account for the stay and bond, which I was fine with. What nobody told me was that a separate charge of $738 would be taken out at checkout before the $929 hold was released. Because Pan Pacific couldn't time their own transactions properly, both amounts were sitting out of my account at the same time leaving me overdrawn and without access to my money for the whole weekend. When I called to raise this, the response was dismissive basically just "call your bank." No apology, no accountability, nothing. Yes, I understand that the $929 hold will eventually be released and I will get my money back but that does not cover the overdraft fees I have already been charged. That money was mine and I couldn't access it because of their poor billing management. This is also not the first time. On a previous stay it took 10 business days to get my bond back something that has never happened to me at any other hotel in Melbourne. I am incredibly disappointed and will not be staying here ever again.

The hotel is in a fine location as it's close to many places of interest and an easy walk to the free tram zone. I received terrific recognition as a Titanium Discovery Member: an early check in, a late check out, nice welcome amenities and a very generous accommodation upgrade. Every member of staff, from check in to check out, were exemplary, being friendly, helpful and professional. My pre-stay confirmation email was answered promptly and all my requests were granted. The Pacific Club Lounge is up there with the best! It is comfortably furnished, has yummy all day snacks, a nice selection of evening canapes and drinks to suit all tastes. Breakfast in the restaurant includes an excellent choice of items to suit all tastes. The Panoramic Suite is of considerable size and very well furnished, with a walk in robe, separate toilet and a large bathroom with a shower and bathtub. The full length windows, with blackout blinds, offer magnificent views of the Yarra River and city skyline. All of these things considered, this hotel is great value for money. .

GHA/Discovery has consistently delivered an elevated experience for loyal members, and this stay was no exception. Even with the many hotel options available through other loyalty programs, the level of recognition I receive with GHA—whether through thoughtful upgrades, lounge access, or the generous welcome amenities—continues to set them apart. A special mention goes to the pillows here, which were incredibly comfortable—possibly the best I’ve ever slept on. (Yes, I know they’re top-of-the-line Hilton pillows, and they truly live up to their reputation!) All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and I’m very much looking forward to returning again

Currently staying here for five nights. We arrived late on Monday evening after a long flight. Got into the room and after a while saw an old disposable contact lens left on the side of the bath, a chocolate wrapper behind a chair and no milk in the fridge so couldn’t make a coffee. I rang and reported this and was offered a change of rooms (too tired)! They said they were sorry and would let the senior housekeeper know in the morning. Would have expected some communication about poor standard of cleaning but to no avail.

I was very disappointed with my check‑in experience. I waited for half an hour with no communication or explanation until I asked what was happening. When I finally arrived at the panoramic suite, I was met with rain‑stained windows that obscured the view — something I specifically paid a premium for. At over $1,000 a night, I expected far higher standards. The couches were stained and clearly needed a proper steam clean. Overall, I’ve had better service and better‑maintained rooms at far more affordable accommodations. This stay did not meet the level of quality advertised or expected. Don't think I'll be staying here again.
