Cosmopolitan and vibrant, rich with cultural and leisure opportunities, Melbourne is one of Australia's finest cities. With a distinguished address in the "Paris" area of Collins Street, famed for shopping, theatres and stunning architecture, Stamford Plaza Melbourne is an elegant home away from home in the heart of the city. Completely refurbished in 2001, a stay at this all suite, five-star hotel is complemented by the culinary delights of Harry's Restaurant and the indulgences of a rooftop swimming pool and a spa.

Very enjoyable stay, great location with great restaurants within a few minutes walk. We didn't require anything from the staff but they were very friendly at all times whenever we spoke to them. Would highly recommend. A+

The facility had a great variety of amenities and the location was very centralized and excellent. The room amenities were very good. The bathroom and kitchenette, though providing all the necessary requirements and function and being clean, were a bit dated aesthetically. The staff and concierge were top notch.

Great location, nice overall indoor appearance and friendly staff. But the self parking car park was not attached to the hotel; not even in the same street - so had to carry the luggage in rain (it was a rainy day) from the car park and the kitchen did not have even milk supplied... had to ask for it!! Air conditioner did not allow temperature adjustment (there were instructions on the wall close by, but they didn't work). So somehow survived a couple of cold nights.

Queen Studio room was furnished beautifully, attention to detail was excellent. Size and spacing was perfectly set out. Shower water temperature was capable of very hot showers (which I love). Not the most accessible room - just check this with reception if you have accessibility need. Very friendly and professional staff. Will definitely stay again!

Genuine question... I am wondering why people stay here? It is incredibly run down and outdated. It looks like the sort of place that would have been popular for honeymooners in 1989. I was excited to read there was a spa after a long day at work. Unfortunately the jets were covered with pink mould and there was no way I could use it! The bed was average. The room is very dark (not great for your mood but good for sleep), however, if you're near the elevator it's extremely noisy so will keep you awake. There is a kitchenette but it's so dated! There is little storage despite the room (queen suite) being a good size. Stamford Plaza is not cheap either so I'm wondering why you'd choose it. I would not stay here again. If you like the classic style hotel, I'd recommend the Westin that's nearby. Or for a renovated hotel at a good price, the Rydges is also nearby.
