Reviews for Stamford Plaza Melbourne

Enjoyable stay.

This was a very short stay just one night, but it was enjoyable and very relaxing. I have stayed at the Stanford Plaza in the past and it is still just as enjoyable as on previous occasions. We were only able to use some facilities, the pool and the spa due to time restrictions and they were very clean and warm, very relaxing and enjoyable. Our suite was spotlessly clean and very inviting. All the staff were welcoming and very friendly making our stay extremely pleasurable.

Old Fashioned Comfort

Nice comfortable hotel with great location to theatre dining and high end shopping 🛍. Liked the old vibe ambiance. Already booked again for Sep.

Honey weekend

Good 5 star hotel, clean and friendly staff, quality furniture. Room needs improvements: more light at entrance, electric blankets, spare blankets, windows not able to be open, spa jets low pressure and too narrow, toilet requires ventilation fan All the rest good and comfortable

Good location

I booked two rooms together for a special hen night with my girls — our first time visiting Melbourne — and unfortunately, the experience at reception was quite disappointing. I had already requested when booking that the two rooms be together, but when we arrived, the rooms were not next to each other or even on the same floor. The receptionist told me that if I wanted the rooms on the same floor, I would need to check out and then check in again the next day. Unfortunately, this wasn’t possible because we had already planned our trip and would be out all day. The reception staff were also not very friendly or welcoming. I was asked to pay a $500 deposit, but the receptionist didn’t explain that the check-in process had been completed. She started doing something else, and I had to ask if everything was finished. A simple smile or a little more communication would have made a big difference, especially for a special celebration. It was disappointing because we were really looking forward to staying here and celebrating together. On the positive side, the location is very good and the check-out experience was much better and smooth. I hope the hotel can improve the friendliness and communication of the reception staff, as this really affects the first impression of the hotel.

A disappointing staycation

I was really hoping to like this hotel because the deal was so good. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. The rooms were noisy - could hear the foyer and lift all night and the paper thin walls meant people walking past sounded like they were inside. I had initially requested a quiet room away from lifts and this was completely ignored. I also discovered that there were no accessible electrical wall outlets next to the bed which meant I couldn’t plug my phone in overnight. This was very strange like they purposely hid them from guests. I asked for an extension lead from reception and they gave me a short adapter which was not long enough to reach the bathroom. I suggest to bring a lead if you decide to stay here. The food at Harry’s was the biggest issue. It was the worst hotel restaurant meal we have ever had. It was so bad we were laughing. The skewers were over cooked and the nasi goreng was a flavourless glug. Would not recommend eating here.
