No Housekeeping in sight for 4 days stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We stayed at Stamford Plaza Hotel, Lt Collins Street, Melbourne CBD for 4 days in March (27th March-30th March) in all that time we never saw a cleaner and never had our room made up over that whole time, for a 5 star hotel this is disgusting. We were out all day, every day only coming back for a quick shower and out again for dinner. Every-time we went out we activated the “PLEASE CLEAN OUR ROOM” but over the 4 days not a cleaner in sight. When we arrived on level 11 we commented on all the bits of paper in the corridor leading to the room and that was still like it when we left. Should have known then that this was going to be a problem. On the third day I had to go to reception and ask for clean towels, toilet rolls, coffee and tea top ups as we had not had our room cleaned or attended to at all. On top of that there was NO card put under the door to say that a cleaner had even been and tried to access our room. When we went to the lounge to get a drink (We were charged $32 for a Gin & Tonic and a Corona) we noticed that on the receipt they had charged us $4 extra for weekend surcharge, surely patrons of the hotel have already paid for this in their hotel accommodation fee, annoying but not a game changer like the lazy housekeeping. I believe that Stamford Plaza Melbourne are only employing a skeleton housekeeping crew and are happy for you to complain to reception to get room service as this saves them heaps on staffing, because we never ever saw cleaner the whole 4 days we were there. Breakfast was fine and room although outdated was also fine. 5 STAR, NOT ON YOUR LIFE!

Excellent centrally located hotel in the Melbourne CBD. We were able to walk to most places. Good selection at breakfast in the dining room and our suite was very comfortable. The mini bar was well stocked and the ironing board and hairdryer were in good condition and useful additions to the room. Friendly helpful staff all round. Great stay and would come again if in Melbourne.

Over Night Stay

The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were good too. An unexpected upgrade was welcomed by me as I had been travelled for seven hours.

fabulous location and wonderful facilities. loved the big rooms that also had a kitchenette and lounge/dining area. Rooms were very quiet. Loved having a spa bath to relax at the end of each day. All the staff were great, a standout for us was Rohit.
