W Melbourne with its rebellious Flinders Lane address takes its design cues from the streets of Australia's cultural capital, holding the back-lane entrance keys to what's new/next in the city CBD. Revealing a playground where the early risers to the late-night revellers can turn up the tracks. Extending the laneway culture in, 294 bold hotel rooms and suites peel back the layers and revel in the city's history.

I generally have mixed feelings on W properties. Some execute the service, vibe and sleekness well; others feel past their prime, and are more like an aging rockstar still touring decades on - the veneer of edginess is there, but underneath, no longer command the price of admission. The W Melbourne is of the former. It's a beautiful property in a GREAT location. Once you enter, the sharpness and conformity of the corporate surroundings on the street, give way to a sleek, laidback vibe. I made a mistake in my booking, not accounting for the date change, and while the hotel was nearly fully committed, they were able to find me a room, and waived the no-show fee, and honored the original room rate. 100% my fault, and yet they came through and got me out of a jam, despite being full. I am truly appreciative of that. There was a little confusion about a welcome amenity being delivered (but not actually), however the front desk made it right. Writing this not to complain, but to demonstrate that the staff again demonstrated excellent service, and problem solving skills. They truly want their guests to have a memorable experience. The rooms are a bit dark, which I don't mind, however, I do think they could improve the closet space (which is more of a large cupboard with two drawers), then an actual closet/wardrobe. There is a huge minibar, but no dresser or anywhere to store clothes should you wish to take them out of your luggage. There also wasn't a desk or anywhere in the room to sit and work, besides the bed). I mentioned this to the staff, and they generously offered to find furniture for my room! (I declined, the bed was good enough). I know the W isn't marketed toward the business traveler specifically, but a table or desk would be a smart addition to the rooms. The common areas (lobby, restaurant/lounges) are also a bit austere in terms of furnishings, so there really isn't a great space to setup if you need to do some work. Thanks for a great stay... I will certainly return.

Exceeded my expectations. Everything about it was unbelievable. Will only bring starting at the W from now on.

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights. We were upgraded to a MEGA room which eas absolutely fantastic. The room had a large bathroom with a Toto toilet. King size bed. Shower and bath. Everything you need. The aircon worked well, and the room was pretty dark so I had a decent sleep. The staff were very friendly and check-in was smooth. On one of the days we left our privacy light on by mistake. Rather than banging on the door in the afternoon to check if we were there, house keeping left a note on the door and also emailed me to let me know. The email is an amazing touch because I was able to get my room cleaned up before I got back. Great idea! Breakfast was included and was solid, the coffee being the standout. Would happily come back.

Check in experience was great! We booked the Mega Corner Room and it had great views (especially at night) and loved the interior design aesthetic. Buffet breakfast in Lollo was excellent and there was plenty of talent around attending to our needs and clearing our plates. It’s one of the better buffet experiences I’ve had in ages. The buffet setup was brilliant and had excellent choices and a wide range of options hot and cold. It was a very memorable stay!

We loved our stay at the Melbourne W Hotel! The facility was gorgeous, breakfast at Lollo was an amazing array of yummy choices, and the staff were warm and helpful. The hotel is close to many local touring options and a couple of blocks from the Yarra River waterfront area. The tram is just over a block away to take you anywhere in Melbourne. We highly recommend this hotel.
