Where do I start? The check in line was incredibly long with a good 100 people waiting to check in. It took around 20mins to get to the front desk. I checked into The Loft room so not the cheapest room they have. Over $800 for the night to have crumbs on the couch and carpet. Toilet in the lounge not cleaned properly. Want a bath? Turn the tap on, go for dinner then come back and maybe it’ll be half filled not to mention it had a dirty ring of grime half way up. Ordered an extra pillow at 3pm. Requested it again with house keeping when they came past asking if I needed anything. Called guest services at 9pm asking for it again and finally it arrived 45 mins later. They charge 6 bucks to deliver room service which is an absolute joke. However I will say the steak was cooked bang on. The calamari was a miss as it was sloppy and oily. No dental or shaving kit in the bathroom. Ordered it and an hour later it still wasn’t delivered. The room is tired and desperately needs a makeover/update. In Melbourne, I’ve stayed at The Sofitel, The Park Hyatt, The Westin, Hyatt Centric, The Langham and now Crown Metro and I can without a doubt tell you to book The Park Hyatt for your next stay.

This is an excellent hotel. When we arrived at 8am after 24 hours travelling from London our room wasn’t ready as expected but they found us an upgrade at a reasonable rate which allowed us to freshen up and hit the ground running for all the events we had in front of us. Thank you to the reception team for helping us. The room itself was large, clean and comfortable with nice views. It’s attached to its own shopping mall, restaurants and casino so there’s plenty to do and location wise it’s perfect for walking along the river to the Botanical gardens and the MCG. Fairly priced too. Finally, it does a magnificent breakfast, one of the best I’ve had for a long time. We’d use this hotel again when we’re next in Melbourne.

The Crown Metropole is part of a huge complex within Melbourne. The city centre location is perfect for reaching many of the main attractions. Our room was fantastic. Clean and spacious with a great design e.g mirrors and power points exactly as needed. Staff are lovely although it sometimes appeared that there were shortages eg in the reception area where there were frequently long queues. This would have been a five star review had it not been for the overcrowded breakfast room and the chaotic service. The tables are too close together making it almost impossible to pass and this was clearly a problem for the too few staff having to carry heavy trays in confined spaces. For a hotel of this quality the breakfast service needs a rethink.

Perfect location, great size room although the bathroom is only separated to the room by a thin fabric which is not ideal when your partner has indulged in a multiple course meal at Meat and Co … hot tip turn tv up very loud and bring a peg for your nose, otherwise it was a lovely stay

Stayed just for one night which was good. The room is spacious enough. Bathroom layout is a bit odd as there’s a gap which does not provide complete privacy. No complimentary water provided considering the price of the room. The great thing about the hotel is the location.
