Park Hyatt Melbourne

Three stays. Different rooms. Different floors. Different parts of the hotel. Different visits. And after three stays at the Park Hyatt Melbourne, I can say with absolute confidence that I have not found even the tiniest, smallest, most singular little thing to complain about. And believe me, I’ve tried. 😂 This hotel is simply exceptional. There is something about this building that makes staying here feel special before anyone has even done anything for you. It’s warm, elegant and beautifully understated. The Art Deco influence, the gorgeous interiors and those enormous arched windows give the whole place a kind of old-world Melbourne charm without it ever feeling dated. Sitting by one of those windows as the sun goes down over Melbourne — looking across towards the magnificent St Patrick’s Cathedral or out across the city — somehow feels like you’re peering through a little window in history. And then there are the people. Across three stays, I genuinely cannot recall a single interaction with a staff member that hasn’t been warm, friendly and welcoming. Not one. Reception. Concierge. Breakfast. The lobby lounge. Room service. Housekeeping. Everywhere. The service is polished and incredibly efficient, but never stiff or impersonal. Everyone seems genuinely pleased to see you. Nothing feels like too much trouble. And somehow, despite obviously running a large luxury hotel, nobody ever seems flustered, irritated or like they would secretly prefer all the guests to disappear so they could get on with their day. That is an art form in itself. The rooms have been equally impressive. I’ve stayed in different room categories, on different floors and different sides of the building, and every one has been immaculate, beautifully appointed, exceptionally comfortable and properly luxurious. And by properly luxurious, I mean they haven’t quietly stripped away all the little things that make a luxury hotel luxurious while hoping nobody notices. You notice. Everything you need is there. Everything works. Everything is beautifully maintained. You walk into the room feeling like you have checked into a luxury hotel — and importantly, you still feel like you’re staying in one several days later. Then there’s the food. Good grief. Breakfast is fabulous. A beautiful, generous buffet, gorgeous surroundings, wonderful staff and an egg station responsible for some truly spectacular omelettes. The lobby lounge? Excellent. Room service? Excellent. And not the increasingly common hotel version of room service where a tray arrives, you lift a lid and discover something vaguely warm and slightly defeated underneath it. Here, an actual beautiful meal arrives at your room on a full silver-service trolley, complete with flowers and everything you need, beautifully presented and tasting like it came straight from a very good restaurant. Because apparently even eating dinner in your pyjamas should have standards. But perhaps my favourite little Park Hyatt Melbourne ritual happens in the morning. Heading down towards breakfast and being greeted by Charlie the Labrador. Charlie takes his hotel responsibilities extremely seriously. He is impeccably behaved, wonderfully trained, ridiculously charming and quite clearly an important member of staff. Frankly, I suspect management would fall apart without him. He is the cherry on top of an already exceptional experience. Luxury hotels can be beautiful. They can have wonderful rooms, beautiful food and impressive buildings. But what makes people return is how a place feels. And the Park Hyatt Melbourne feels warm. Calm. Generous. Welcoming. Beautifully cared for. Three stays in, I still walk through the doors and think, God, I love staying here. So tonight, watching the sunset over Melbourne on my final evening of this visit, I thought it was probably time I actually said so. Park Hyatt Melbourne — I genuinely couldn't fault you if I tried. And yes, there will absolutely be a fourth stay.

The property is getting tired, the front desk staff are not friendly when checking in. I observed as they were clearing the breakfast area, excellent food items being binned on masse. Surely they could contact a homeless shelter to pick the unused food up daily. Did not enjoy our stay. Going elsewhere next time. Convention people in the lobby and breakfast area, trying G to loudly sound important yapping on their cell phones , really ???

We stayed in a Deluxe King Room with a lovely view of St Patrick’s Cathedral. The room was spacious and comfortable, and we really enjoyed waking up to the beautiful cathedral view. The hotel is in a great location, right next to the park, which was perfect for a relaxing morning walk. It’s peaceful and quiet, yet still within easy reach of the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially at the front desk, and we felt very welcome throughout our stay.

Overall the Park Hyatt is a fantastic hotel. The gorgeous building and attentive staff are wonderful. The breakfasts are amazing and the spa is fantastic. The lobby bar was a bit lacking in service and experience.

In Melbourne for a theatre weekend and stayed here for the first time. It was fabulous. The hotel had a modern art deco charm and was beautifully presented. An abundance of staff made sure every need was met and the oversized rooms were luxurious and lacked nothing. Finally found a 5 star hotel that deserved its stars. The Hyatt team worked hard to ensure we had a great time. Location wise was perfect just near the theatre district and we walked to Rod Laver Arena to see the John Farnham Tribute concert. Highly recommended a quite luxurious place to stay - on the east edge of the city.
