Yucatan is a historically rich region of Mexico, home to the ancient Mayan culture. In the downtown historic center, you can visit the city cathedral, an impressive 16th century construction or you can go to interesting museums, such as the Yucatan Museum of Archaeology. You can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage down the city`s main avenue, Paseo Montejo, which is lined with 19th century mansions and the Hyatt Regency Merida hotel. It`s a pleasant tour blending historic sights with the new world.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Regency Mérida. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk to the historic center, with several excellent restaurants just 5–10 minutes away. Mérida itself offers incredible history, culture, and fantastic food. If you rent a car, we highly recommend visiting the flamingos in Celestún, the relaxed beach town of Progreso, and the many cenotes and Mayan ruins within 1–1.5 hours’ drive. What truly stood out was the staff. Everyone was warm and helpful, especially the restaurant and Regency Club lounge teams. The lounge food variety was excellent — noticeably healthier than many other Hyatt lounges. As Globalists, we appreciated having lounge access and recommend requesting the 17th floor for convenience. The only downside was noise. Our north-facing room (overlooking the pool) experienced constant road traffic, which we managed with a noise machine and earplugs. However, one evening pool event was exceptionally loud — the room was vibrating until 11pm, likely due to single-pane windows. Guests on the opposite side also mentioned frequent loud music. We would return in a heartbeat if this issue were addressed. Improved soundproofing or stricter event volume control would make a significant difference. One additional suggestion: adding two-bed suite options would greatly benefit guests who prefer suites but do not want a king bed.

The hotel is perfectly located as it is right next to Colon 60, an office/hotel/restaurant complex where many tour companies make a stop. If you are riding the bus from the airport (modern buses and only 3usd each way) this is your stop as well. Staff at the front desk, housekeeping and the cafe were super attentive and helpful. Then you are 1.5 mile walk from downtown, a straight shot on Calle 60, and also a few steps from Paseo Montejo

Very poor rooms that don't match Hyatt Regency levels of quality. Filthy windows, concierge that knew very little about the area or offerings, ect. Bathrooms incredibly small.

Wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency. Highly recommend this quiet property in a safe neighborhood. The staff is extremely attentive, replenishing pool towels, and breakfast items. The Regency Club was outstanding! Loved the coffee/cappuchino machine and the evening happy hour which was enough for dinner. Included fantastic breakfast buffet with everything you could imagine. The heated pool was enjoyable with plenty of chairs available. Can't wait to return!
