Yucatan is a historically rich region of Mexico, home to the ancient Mayan culture. In the downtown historic center, you can visit the city cathedral, an impressive 16th century construction or you can go to interesting museums, such as the Yucatan Museum of Archaeology. You can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage down the city`s main avenue, Paseo Montejo, which is lined with 19th century mansions and the Hyatt Regency Merida hotel. It`s a pleasant tour blending historic sights with the new world.

Our bathroom ceiling leaked mystery fluid into our room from the room above us. We notified the front desk immediately but were not given any explanation or follow up or compensation from the hotel staff. It was a lot of fluid... Additionally, the walls of the hotel are paper thin and the doors slam LOUDLY. We were woken up multiple times by the birds outside, our neighbors getting up at 5 am, and other noises. I would not recommend staying here.

Hotel is in great condition and location and staff are very friendly. Rooms and pool are in good shape. Sadly they are dog-friendly and someone in a room near ours left their dog (or dogs?) in the room during the day. The barking was constant for hours. Thankfully we had things to do but reported to reception. They said they had called the owner to come back and get their dog. Please don't allow for pets to be left behind in hotel rooms. Their barking is pitiful and annoying! Otherwise very good stay.

My wife and I stayed 8 nights during Christmas and the hotel is boring, we ended up going next door to the Holiday Inn for entertainment and to the Fiesta Americana across the street for the Spa and happy hour. They knew it was our anniversary and did nothing special, the day before we stayed for one night at a Krystal and they decorated the bed with an anniversary message and some wine, and the hotel is a much lower class. They even gave us a room on the 12th floor with an obscene mark carved on their window, I asked and they said they knew but had not been able to erase it. They need to do better. I am glad we rented a car. The only great thing is the maids service, they are great!

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Friendly staff, outstanding food, and a beautiful room with a great view. It's a bit of a walk to the historic center but a straight shot, maybe 20-25 minutes, and very safe and enjoyable with the many beautiful homes and colonial buildings.
