Yucatan is a historically rich region of Mexico, home to the ancient Mayan culture. In the downtown historic center, you can visit the city cathedral, an impressive 16th century construction or you can go to interesting museums, such as the Yucatan Museum of Archaeology. You can also take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage down the city`s main avenue, Paseo Montejo, which is lined with 19th century mansions and the Hyatt Regency Merida hotel. It`s a pleasant tour blending historic sights with the new world.

This was our first visit to Mérida, and it started with a booking mistake — what looked online like a small, beautiful boutique hotel turned out to be nothing like we expected. We scrambled to find a nearby hotel and, as Hyatt members, chose the Hyatt Regency. Great call. The location turned out to be excellent — close to Paseo 60 mall and restaurants, and just a short walk to Paseo Montejo. Staff were very welcoming, and our room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Dinner at Spasso was exceptional, and the pool bar server was fun and full of great local tips. The only downside was the pool area — it doesn't match other Hyatt Regency properties. The planter beds were in shambles, the furniture felt cheap, and there were no umbrellas in the baking sun. It's due for a serious makeover. Despite the rocky start elsewhere, the Hyatt Regency saved our trip. Fix up the pool area and this place would be even easier to recommend.

The location is within walking distance of many restaurants. The hotel was very clean and the front desk and hospitality staff were very pleasant. It was very safe to walk around day and night.

Excellent hotel. The whole staff - from the front desk to the breakfast waiter to the lounge attendant to the concierge - was great. We felt seen and taken care of the entire stay. The room was clean and the lounge upgrade was well worth it. The pool area was wonderful - much larger than most hotel pools in Merida - and the food was good.
