Known locally as Palacio "de los Condes de Miravalle," Downtown Mexico was home to the Countess of Miravalle and still retains a regal colonial grandeur now that it's a 17-room hotel in Centro Histórico. Grupo Habita's renovation team integrated elements of indigenous culture with an air of industrial modernism, seen in details like the stone-forge staircase's intricate handrails, volcanic rock walls and handmade cement tiles.

Everything was absolutely wonderful. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the historical center of Mexico City. It’s within walking distance of many major sites and easily accessible to uber rides to other neighborhoods. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff is outstanding with excellent service and accommodation. Rooms are very spacious and housekeeping kept things very tidy every day. We stayed for nearly 12 days and enjoyed the amenities of the twrrace, the pool, the breakfast buffet, and the lovely restaurant downstairs. Cynthia and Daniel in particular, was always helpful in getting us the best information and services. We will miss our stay at the lovely down town hotel!

A truly disappointing experience. The hotel is dark, dingy, and above a very loud restaurant. There was a huge amount of building work going on when we arrived so the dust was unbelievable. The bedrooms are poorly designed with no windows, smell terribly of damp and the shower water overflows out into the rest of the room. The air conditioning in our room didn't work, and the fan that was provided was so loud it made an almost industrial amount of noise. The lighting is impossible to use, we would never stay here again or recommend it. We would ask numerous times each day for towels but would struggle to get anyone to follow up on their promise to bring any to the pool. The redeeming feature was Maria Luisa and Viridiana who were kind and helpful, but otherwise a very disappointing stay.

The Downtown Mexico Hotel is without a doubt the absolutely worse hotel that we have ever stayed in. The room had no windows, the air condition blew directly into our faces all night, the bathroom and sleeping area are essentially open concept, the all inclusive breakfast is a joke. They have a few items marked with stars that are on the all inclusive menu. I had a fried egg on a bed of corn chips with refried beans. English is barely spoken which would be fine except they promote the hotel as bilingual. The windowless rooms open into a courtyard area which can be noisy but for which they give you ear plugs to help you sleep. The toilet area is open concept as I said. Open at the top with a curtain for a door. The shower in the same and there’s no fan. The sink barely drained. For all this you will pay a premium price. It is a disgrace of a hotel.

We had our wedding welcome party here and it was wonderful! The food and drinks are great, the space is beautiful, and the DJ was AMAZING! Meyer truly listened to what we wanted and did a great job mixing everything together. He also adjusted as needed based on how the party was going and honestly kept the party going despite some unexpected rain. Highly recommend!!

Joshua F's March 2024 review captured our experience almost exactly. Fortunately, we had one of the rooms that I believe would be described as "city view" as it had balcony that overlooked the street as well as the door/windows onto the courtyard. The doors that opened onto the balcony provided extra light and air, which helped abate the darkness and improved air circulation. Given that our stay was during a heatwave, that was a lifesaver as the air conditioner, while working, simply couldn't keep the room cool (the ceilings have to be 12 feet at least). The balcony doors also meant that we could close the windows on the courtyard doors for some privacy. But the darkness in the room was still a problem. I had to sit on the end of the bed in front of the balcony to put on my makeup. I had trouble finding things in my suitcase. This is such a pity, as the lighting is clearly a design choice. There were four stylish lamps as well as a lighting strip under the headboard in our room, but all had bulbs so dim they shed almost no light. Ditto for the lighting bar above the bathroom mirror. As the previous review states, this is clearly a hip, happening spot. That meant that on one afternoon and evening there was a private "pool party" on the rooftop, with music pounding until 1:30 am. Luckily the rooms are relatively soundproof--but only with all the doors and windows closed, which kept the room pretty hot. On the plus side, the staff were lovely. (Sergio was especially wonderful.) Breakfast was very good--I especially enjoyed the buffet with all its fresh fruit--and the courtyard was a perfect spot to eat in the mornings. We also really enjoyed the rooftop bar for evening cocktails and snacks. On our last evening, we had a light meal there, and the tacos were great. The pool was also a huge bonus, given the heat. The restaurant on the ground floor (Azul Historica--not operated by the hotel) is an absolutely gorgeous spot for dinner, and the food was good. We, like the previous reviewer, are unlikely to repeat our stay at Downtown Mexico or recommend it to others because of the lighting and air conditioning situation. This is such a pity as the place really is beautiful, so conveniently situated and so well staffed.
