The Plymouth is Art Deco gem from the 1940s on South Beach. An upscale boutique hotel with a striking Art Moderne facade, whose interiors has been completely renovated. Features include a surprisingly sophisticated indoor bamboo bar opens to a courtyard pool where a light breakfast is served daily and a private area at the beach. The excellent Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill is famed for both its fried chicken, and super fresh sushi. The rooms feel elegant, the suites add free-standing soaking tubs, and there’s plenty of classic comfort to back up the inspired visuals.

Some positives, but overall, staying here was disappointing. The positives are that the hotel was clean, the pool area was nice, the location was good, and the reception staff were absolutely wonderful - particularly Alicia, Sarah and another lady whose name we can't remember. They were all so helpful, professional and friendly. The downsides were that, despite there being a concierge desk, there was never anyone there to assist guests, for the duration of our stay. Also, we don't like Japanese food, and the emphasis seemed to be completely on the Japanese restaurant. Often there were 2 or 3 people dealing with the Japanese meals, and only ever one member of staff at the reception desk, where there was often a queue for assistance. There were no bar snacks and we had to go elsewhere for evening meals, which wasn't convenient. The hotel recommends The Orange Blossom to visitors for meals, but it is a block away (not convenient at night), and closes quite early. The Plymouth Hotel bar was closed by 10pm every night of our stay, despite their notice board stating that it opens until 11pm. We were absolutely appalled at the hotel's policy of only providing 2 complimentary coffee pods PER STAY. How mean is this? We have never encountered a hotel this mean. Finally, our bill included the usual local charges/fees that we encountered everywhere whilst travelling around Florida. However, The Plymouth Hotel was the only hotel that also charged an additional service fee of $45 dollars per night. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone for the reasons I have just stated, and we would not return.

Had a great stay! Shanna, the manager, was super welcoming and made everything run smoothly. Alicia at the front desk was also great—friendly, helpful, and made check-in easy. The pool tiki bar was definitely a highlight—great vibes and drinks. Walter was awesome, super friendly and attentive, and made it a fun place to hang out. Overall, amazing staff and a really enjoyable stay. Would definitely come back!
