Winter Getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Recently had a wonderful stay at The Shelbourne. Great service, especially at the pool and lobby bar. Speaking of the bar, The Plum Luck is one of the best cocktails I have ever had. I even emailed the hotel for the recipe but did not get a response :( Breakfast was tasty and our lunch at the pool was good as well. There was street construction one night until 3am outside, but that was not at fault of the hotel.

Felt like it needs professional hotel managers

Booked several rooms for my family in early January. Location is great and the ground floor was refreshingly different to other hotels. But the whole place felt like it was run by amateurs. When you are paying around one thousand per night, you want the place to be run by professionals. We booked a balcony suite. Several flaws: 1) If you decide to book one, ask for an even numbered one. My wife and I were on a high floor in an odd numbered one (I forget the number) and the terrace was continously smelling of food from the restaurant's extraction directly below. What is the point of booking a suite with a terrace and then not being able to use the terrace! 2) The room was spacious but if you plan on reading in the living room, I suggest you bring along a lamp. There are two bleak wall lights and that's it. So forget reading unless you bring your own light. Breakfast menu is limited and more surprisingly, rigid. I asked for plain yogurt and they said they only had it with granola....... I asked for a muffin and they said they only had croissants... Not what one expects of a luxury hotel. What really made me doubt about returning was the maid service. We had no problem with the cleaning..... when the room was cleaned. The problem is that over a five night stay, my son's room was not cleaned on two occasions and the other times it was cleaned at 5 pm! When I mentioned this at check out, the answer was "thank you for letting us know". Mind blowing. How about "I'm sorry"? How about "Let me have a gesture with your bill"...... Curiously enough, the lady in front had the same complaint so not getting properly timed cleaning service seems to be a thing in this hotel. Would I go back? Not so sure.

Exceptional service from Anthony Flores 5/5 ⭐️ !!

My wife and I enjoyed an outstanding experience at the Shelborne Miami Beach this afternoon, due in large part to the exceptional service provided by Anthony Flores!!! 🙇🏽‍♂️ From the moment we sat down, Anthony’s professionalism was evident✨. He was attentive, courteous, and possessed an impressive knowledge of the entire menu. He didn't just recite options he knew every detail by heart and was able to articulate nuanced descriptions of both dishes and cocktails! While waiting for our drinks me and my wife were talking about the beauty of the lobby bar and how the atmosphere felt so whimsical! And he came back to personally check up on us! What truly set Anthony apart was his personalized guidance. Based on our preferences, he expertly recommended the best selections for both drinks and food. His suggestions were spot-on and elevated our entire meal specially the lobster and plantain roll👌🏾. It was clear he takes genuine pride in his work and in ensuring guests have a memorable visit. Our excellent time at the Shelborne is directly thanks to Anthony’s outstanding care and expertise. He is a tremendous asset to the hotel’s team💯✨🔥and we will absolutely look for him on our next visit. We highly recommend requesting his section for a top-tier dining experience. Thank you, Anthony!

Enjoyed it Immensely!

We just stayed at the Shelborne from December 19-26, and can highly recommend the property. We stayed on the 10th floor, ocean view suite and had daily housekeeping service AND turn down each night. The breakfast and pool food delivered ! It was peaceful & Zen like at the pool and beach. Their red snapper ceviche and guac appetizers were beyond delicious 😋! We didn't try their flagship restaurant b.c we were already booked out each night for dinner. We will return and I really don't get the less than stellar reviews.

Over styled over priced uncomfortable that lacks the basics

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

VERY DISAPPOINTING Just finishing up a 3 night stay and we won’t return. This is a typical chain hotel exuding style over substance. It’s like IKEA heaven throughout with modern design furnishings that look great in a magazine or on a glitzy insta post but lack comfort and luxury to be enjoyed at leisure. We paid premium for an oceanfront suite with balcony. Don’t bother as the ocean is way beyond the front of the room with pool, an ugly accommodation block a garden and a public walkway between you and the beach! Additionally the room was billed as a corner suite with the idea of views and two balconies. Both faced the service entrance with constant noise from staff and maintenance who shouted and laughed at all hours of day and night. There is construction all around the hotel too. The room again was big on style low on comfort. The TV remotes worked intermittently due to placing of receiver in a hidden position. The dimmer light switches were tricky to operate. There was a coffee machine with no cups. The tiny fridge only had beverage for sale no room to store water. The shower was good but the shower curtain one of those cheap plastic types like you get at Walmart! There’s no dressing table or any mirror to sit at to do hair or makeup. There’s one tiny and I mean tiny trash can in the bathroom. One of the other main gripes was the intermittent failure of the elevators. When one worked the other didn’t so often long queues and wait times all through our stay. There seems to be no service lift so the small lifts were often shared with laundry/cleaning/room service. Apart from the comfortable bed and great shower there’s nothing that makes this a luxurious suite and was definitely not worth the premium price we paid. The staff were pleasant though and the beach team in particular were great (especially Andrew) and when we complained about Tv remotes or lack of coffee cups the guest services team and their colleagues were very polite and prompt to deal with. This hotel isn’t 5 star and is over styled at the expense of basics and comfort.
