We just stayed at the Shelborne from December 19-26, and can highly recommend the property. We stayed on the 10th floor, ocean view suite and had daily housekeeping service AND turn down each night. The breakfast and pool food delivered ! It was peaceful & Zen like at the pool and beach. Their red snapper ceviche and guac appetizers were beyond delicious 😋! We didn't try their flagship restaurant b.c we were already booked out each night for dinner. We will return and I really don't get the less than stellar reviews.

VERY DISAPPOINTING Just finishing up a 3 night stay and we won’t return. This is a typical chain hotel exuding style over substance. It’s like IKEA heaven throughout with modern design furnishings that look great in a magazine or on a glitzy insta post but lack comfort and luxury to be enjoyed at leisure. We paid premium for an oceanfront suite with balcony. Don’t bother as the ocean is way beyond the front of the room with pool, an ugly accommodation block a garden and a public walkway between you and the beach! Additionally the room was billed as a corner suite with the idea of views and two balconies. Both faced the service entrance with constant noise from staff and maintenance who shouted and laughed at all hours of day and night. There is construction all around the hotel too. The room again was big on style low on comfort. The TV remotes worked intermittently due to placing of receiver in a hidden position. The dimmer light switches were tricky to operate. There was a coffee machine with no cups. The tiny fridge only had beverage for sale no room to store water. The shower was good but the shower curtain one of those cheap plastic types like you get at Walmart! There’s no dressing table or any mirror to sit at to do hair or makeup. There’s one tiny and I mean tiny trash can in the bathroom. One of the other main gripes was the intermittent failure of the elevators. When one worked the other didn’t so often long queues and wait times all through our stay. There seems to be no service lift so the small lifts were often shared with laundry/cleaning/room service. Apart from the comfortable bed and great shower there’s nothing that makes this a luxurious suite and was definitely not worth the premium price we paid. The staff were pleasant though and the beach team in particular were great (especially Andrew) and when we complained about Tv remotes or lack of coffee cups the guest services team and their colleagues were very polite and prompt to deal with. This hotel isn’t 5 star and is over styled at the expense of basics and comfort.

Love, love, love the new Shelborne by Proper! They did a fantastic job with this hotel renovation. The pool area is very comfortable, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I stayed shortly after the hotel opened and am just now getting around to writing this review. Based on my notes from the stay, there were a few things I hope have been corrected by now: The hallway lighting was extremely bright and came through all the seams of the door, making it feel like a night light was on all night. In my double-bed room, there was no place to hang used/wet towels. The lighting inside the room was not very self-explanatory. Signage directing guests to the pool was poor. Bell service at the entrance did not open the very heavy front door for me at any time. On a positive note, a big shout-out to Mark and Gabriel at the bar—they made guests feel very welcome. Josh, the pool server, was very attentive, and the beach staff were also warm and welcoming. Overall, a beautiful property with great potential, and I’m excited to see how it continues to improve.

My partner and I recently stayed at The Shelborne over New Year's week, and to say we were blown away is an understatement. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning... our jaws dropped from the moment we stepped through the lobby doors, and this WOW moment echoed throughout the entire property. The staff was everything and more. Shoutout to the front desk team, Guillermo, and Frederica for taking care of us during check-in and answering our late-night questions. Made each interaction genuine and pleasurable. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the bellhop's name, but he was amazing, and as soon as he saw us struggling to get our bags out of the Uber, he ran over to assist. We spent our day lounging in a pool cabana from 10am to 2pm, and honestly, quite truly the highlight of our South Beach stay. Elvin and his team at the pool were outstanding! I cannot put into words how incredible Christell, our server, was. Truly a gem! She was so personable and lovely. We stayed on the 5th floor and had a stunning view of the ocean. The room was the perfect combination of luxury, simplicity, and beauty... and may I add... so clean! If I could have stolen the bed at the end of my stay, I would have. Talk about the best night's sleep I've had in a while... I've stayed in multiple hotels along Collins Avenue over the years, and come from an extensive background working in hotels, and I can say with confidence that I love this hotel so much. I wish we could have stayed longer, but we will be sure to be back!

So we booked from 27th to 31 DEC 2025, and knew ahead of time the cost was going to be high during this time. We booked the cheapest room, city view 2 queens. Arrival and check in was quick, the person checking us in was quick and efficient but that's about it. There are one set of elevators for the main tower. We were on fifth floor facing the roof of the hotel out the side. As someone said in a review, the room, while large, lacked any real furniture but the two beds which were very comfortable as the mattress is newish. (hotel really just opened up last winter 2025). Opposite the beds are simple metal storage unit like something at Ikea. There is a tiny table with two basic chairs. No furniture for the large space to lounge or sit. Other than a few shelves on the metal bookcase, there are no hooks and especially bad no hooks in the small bathroom at all. You have to put hand towels or towels over shower door. The vanity is super small with no counter space. Very odd. There are built ins for hanging clothes though. We also experience very spotty housekeeping. One day they didn't come and had to call, she did quick work and left incomplete set of towels and didn't empty trash. Next day they came at 6pm when we were getting ready for dinner. Odd. I did mention this to desk. The bar area was ok, and semi busy at night for drinks. In morning it was just used for coffee and tea. We ate breakfast once in cafe by pool and luckily got in before huge lines formed. The breakfast was unremarkable and expensive. We ended up going to the Pura Vida down the street to order great breakfast on the app and bring it back to eat in the bar area. Best tip right there. The pool area was the best part -- great staff. You should get there 8AM to get some chairs and they will set it up -- please tip them. Great service although you have to really call their attention to come take an order. Beach was nice although they will set up chairs and umbrella in this super crowded area with others and facing away from beach. Usually we prefer the beach but from where you sat you couldn't see it and faced the sun. The pool was the spot to be. We never had anyone really greet or care to ask how stay was going. The staff at times seemed to still be trying to coordinate their service with each other. Our last day we smelled raw sewage coming from the side of the property on sidewalk and had to sidestep it -- what was that about. In final, it has nice pool spot with calm music and not a crazy scene like some larger hotels have with loud music so that alone is work but the value is not here for this place, sadly.
