For our first stay in Miami Beach, we faced the classic dilemma of choosing the right hotel in a city full of options. After carefully weighing locations and reviews, we placed our trust in the Shelborne — we weren't disappointed The hotel’s design was pure Miami — vibrant, sun-kissed, and every amenity felt thoughtfully curated. What truly set our stay apart, however, was the people. The staff went above and beyond at every turn, making us feel less like guests and more like cherished friends. We were fortunate enough to meet Adina, one manager, whose warmth and attentiveness set the tone for the entire property. Her dedication to ensuring a flawless experience was evident. The pool and beach were simply sublime — made even more magical by Armand and his exceptional team, including Raphael and Lucas, who brought energy, care, and genuine enthusiasm to every moment we spent under the Miami sun. Evenings at the hotel bar were a highlight in their own right — Marc behind the counter made sure of that, mixing brilliant cocktails with the kind of warmth that’s impossible to forget. The Shelborne has earned more than just a glowing review — it has earned our loyalty. We will be recommending it to everyone we know, and we have no doubt we’ll return. It has become our home away from home, our little Miami cocoon.

We had a wonderful stay at the Shelborne by Proper. The location is prime, and the staff works incredibly hard to make every day memorable. The beach setup is amazing and the food is delicious. They even accommodated a special request to the food when ordering at the beach! The lounges are comfortable and the staff at the beach are incredible. They walk around to make sure that you are comfortable, move the umbrellas to make sure you have the shade you want, all with a smile and positive attitude. If you can splurge for the oceanfront suite, it’s absolutely worth it. The room is spacious and very comfortable, with plenty of closet space, beautiful views, and two balconies! The hotel is also within walking distance of many great restaurants, and the beautiful Beach Walk, which makes the location even better. I am already looking forward to a future stay at the Shelborne! Tips: There is a Cafe Americana across the street from the Shelborne, but if you have time in the morning walk the Beach Walk to the Cafe Americana on Ocean Drive or the News Cafe. They are an easy walk and great people watching/palm tree views.

Wouldn’t stay here again. Especially not at $1850 a night and bagel +coffee for $80. Better To stay at Loews, same service much nicer rooms and food/drink choices. We’ve stayed in South Beach about 8 times and tried different hotels. This one didn’t live up to the hype. The rooms while larger are sparse with tiny bathrooms and tiny balconies. The pictures suggest grand views and large spaces. Not so unless you’re in one of 6 rooms in the hotel. The wait service was excellent and attentive and the pool was wonderful though there is a sewage access panel in the middle of the seating area at the pool so you frequently get wiff of sewage when the wind is calm.. not the best for such a beautiful place.. The good: Wait staff is quite good and plentiful The pool and chairs - awesome The view of the beach from the room The bad: The noise coming in from the beach clubs is windows - all night beats that you can’t get away from and WILL impact your sleep. 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 coffees - $81 Nothing special just exorbitantly over priced with builtin HEFTY tip. Apathetic hotel leadership who do little to solve problems (what I call a “thoughts and prayers organization” - lots of flower apologizes with no action ) Lounge and bar are incredibly loud - too loud to carry on a conversation and so loud that it overwhelms the check-in area making it difficult to hear check-in instructions. Sewage smell at the pool

Words alone simply cannot explain how great of an experience my wife and I had on our 5 year wedding anniversary trip to The Shelborne. Upon entry of the hotel we were taken back by the beauty alone of the property. Yara who worked at the front desk was extremely pleasant and very helpful with anything we needed. Especially when we were in search of restaurants to go to for our anniversary. She provided numerous locations, one of which we went to and it was nothing short of perfect for our special day. There is a beautiful pool located on the premises but if you are more of a beach person, you are just steps away from the most pristine turquoise waters. Our beach attendant Luis went above and beyond to make sure my wife and I had nothing but the best experience. He was very attentive, polite and extremely personable. He would regularly check in to make sure we had everything we needed. I also highly recommend taking a moment early in the morning to go see the sunrise on the beach. It was a truly spectacular experience. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Shelborne and were very sad when the day came that we had to check out. We definitely will be coming back again in the future. The staff and atmosphere made everything just perfect.

So far the check-in experience has not been what one would expect for lifetime platinum Marriott. Do not assume status means anything here. Check-in is at 4 and understand that early check-in is upon availability but usually with status even 3pm is accommodated, not here. Also, do not expect an upgrade even if rooms are available - you will not get it. I was told there were no oceanfront balcony rooms available for upgrade but if I went on the app, I could see the same room available. I called the platinum desk who also confirmed the room class that was eligible for upgrade was available but discretion of hotel. Have not yet completed our stay here but so far I am disappointed that Marriott status doesn’t mean much. I see other reviews share the same feedback. Stark contrast to the ritz only a couple blocks down who go above and beyond for plat members.
