Only out for the tips !!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Beautiful looking hotel but when we checked in our room wasnt ready we were told we would be either messaged or called but no one contacted us at all.Room was lovely but the bed wasnt made properly the sheets were not tucked in at all. No Iron or board i had to ask for one and that did arrive the next morning. Valet parking did seem quick but it just felt like everyone was just after a huge tip !! Breakfast we waited 15 mins for a table once seated i asked could i just have 2 toast which was on the sides menu at a cost of $6 i was told it wasnt on the main menu so would be charged for it ,even though I didnt want the main costing $22 it just didnt make sense .Pool area was lovely but cocktails are very expensive .Overall nice hotel but I wouldnt go back .We did meet a lovely staff member called Michael but only once .Room cleaners came back on the 2nd day to clean but at 330pm we were resting before we went out for the evening .so told them no .I found it very frustrating staying at this hotel not relaxing at all !! We had previously tried to contact the hotel as this was a special trip for our 40th wedding anniversary they failed to contact us at all .Grwat shame !!

A great stay in an architectural gem

This hotel should be protected as an historic architectural gem. Loved the 80s design and detail. Service was great, rooms charming and clean. Ideal location. Pool nice. Loved the claw footed tub in the room. Everyday Yoga excellent and made the stay worth it! Coffee each morning much appreciated. It’s the small amenities that make a huge difference.

gorgeous but some service challenges

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

This beautiful hotel is perfectly located but service was uneven. From the hotel, it's an easy walk to scores of restaurants and shops, many directly across the street. As noted by others, valet is very quick and there are also several parking garages just a few steps away. While we noticed a number of weddings and celebrations during our stay, the hotel seemed to handle the traffic well and although one weekend evening had a band on the roof, we enjoyed it. The rooftop pool is small but lovely. The central garden is gorgeous and the second floor offers seating by the fountains. The rooms themselves are dark but we enjoyed the respite from the heat and from our 5th floor location, the balcony was sufficient when we wanted a bit more light. Breakfast and room service offerings are limited but adequate. In our five day stay, we found the service very uneven. We often made requests multiple times with different staff, particularly to get the room tidied and restocked and also in restaurants to get our full orders to the table. Everyone was very nice but seems a bit disorganized and for the price, we did expect a better experience. Common areas appeared spotless.

Central Location but Not Recommended

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Rooms very dark: lighting was terrible. No fan in interior bathroom. Electric (fuse) blew twice due to old wiring. But breakfast was very good. Rooftop pool and bar very nice.
