Giorgio Armani is said to have personally designed or approved every detail of his namesake hotel, from the sculptural furniture to the leather-lined walls. A new addition to the Fashion District, Armani Hotel Milano reflects the designer’s aesthetic with minimalistic style and a punch of splendor around every corner. Glimpse the Duomo while sipping champagne in the spa’s VIP couples’ treatment room (and stay for a stint in the Finnish shower, steam bath and ice cascade). The restaurant also showcases the city, with floor-to-ceiling windows for inspiration.

I chose the Armani Hotel for a special birthday celebration and, given the hotel’s reputation and price point, expected a much more polished experience. The biggest issue was the handling of my late checkout. My rate/package included a 4:00 PM checkout, and, importantly, when I checked in, the staff specifically told me, without me even asking, that my checkout was at 4:00 PM and that they were planning accordingly. I therefore made plans around that. Then, in the middle of my day, I received a message telling me that the hotel needed the room and that checkout would actually have to be by 1:00 PM. After negotiating with the hotel, I was able to extend this to 3:00 PM, but this still left me scrambling to return to the hotel, pack, and leave earlier than planned. I had specifically intended to use the sauna, steam room, and shower before leaving, so this significantly disrupted my plans. The other major disappointment was the room temperature. Despite contacting maintenance and having numerous conversations with the hotel, they were never able to get the room below 21°C. That may not sound significant, but for a high-end hotel, particularly when you are paying a premium, I expect the basic comfort of the room to be properly addressed. I also wish I had been informed in advance that the restaurant was closed for the entire month of August. That is important information when choosing a hotel for a special occasion. The lounge was pleasant and did offer food, so that was a positive. I do want to give credit where it is due. The front desk was helpful in arranging a change to my transportation from Venice, and the lounge staff were nice. Unfortunately, those positives did not outweigh the overall experience. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected much better communication and attention to detail. Having a confirmed 4:00 PM checkout changed at the last minute to 1:00 PM, with 3:00 PM only being granted after negotiation, combined with an unresolved room-temperature issue and the lack of advance notice about the restaurant closure, made what was supposed to be a special stay considerably less enjoyable. I simply expected more from the Armani Hotel.

I love this property, such a convenient location, walking distance to all the shops. The staff is very friendly, excellent service, love the breakfast, the bar, the restaurant. One of my favorite hotels. The decor is very nice. It’s such a quiet hotel, you don’t hear anything from other rooms so you can actually sleep and rest
