If your sweet tooth aches when you check into Meliá Milano, there might still be sugar in the building’s bones: This used to be the site of Alemagna cake factory, famous for inventing the traditional Christmas cake panettone. The factory was leveled in World War II, and an elegant hotel took its place in 2001. Rooms are outfitted in rich, neutral colors with heavy brocaded drapes and gilded gold embellishments. For a modern change of pace, book the Diabolik Comic Experience Room, a noire-style tribute to the Italian comic hero.

The Melia Milano is an absolutely stunning hotel, we booked ‘The Level Room’ and Laura & her colleagues were amazing. They were super helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. We especially appreciated the balloons and prosecco that they added to the room after we shared we were there to celebrate a recent birthday. One minor issue, when leaving the room we put ‘do not disturb’ & ‘do not clean room’ signs on - however this was disregarded and room service still entered. On the whole, we would definitely recommend ‘The Level’ to anyone coming to Milan, it is definitely worth the upgrade with a lovely private lounge on the first floor.

Camila was great for Guest Experience. She gave us a memorable experience, also the rest of the staff were great. The gym needs bigger dumbbells.

Based on our recent stay at Meliá Milano, I would not recommend this hotel, especially for guests expecting a true five-star experience in Milan. There were some positive aspects: our initial check-in was handled by a lovely receptionist, we were provided a complimentary room upgrade, along with a welcome cake and wine (later swapped for two bottles of ice tea). The shower pressure in the room was excellent, and the gym being open 24 hours was convenient. However, several issues seriously impacted our experience: Room Comfort: Despite the upgrade, we were given two single beds pushed together instead of a proper double or king bed. This was uncomfortable and not what you would expect from a five-star hotel. It’s a basic standard that was not met. Location: While the hotel is near the train station and central Milan is about 15 minutes away by train, the area itself is surrounded by construction and lacks the atmosphere you would expect from a five-star property. It does not feel like a classy or desirable part of Milan, which could be misleading for guests unfamiliar with the city. Service after check-in: After the warm welcome, service became inconsistent and slow. Requests made via the app—such as for a comb and a night pack—were not fulfilled promptly. The comb took two days and multiple reminders, while the night pack never arrived. Tea bags and coffee were not restocked in our room throughout our four-day stay, despite repeated requests. Room cleanliness: The cleaning standards were disappointing. On arrival, we found blood stains on our pillows, which is unacceptable at any level of hotel, let alone a five-star. Breakfast experience: The breakfast was decent but not exceptional. The service was overly hasty; plates were taken away even while we were still eating, and on one occasion, my nearly full plate was cleared while I briefly left the table to order for my wife. Safety concerns: The gym had a water machine positioned dangerously close to exposed electric wires. On the first night, I had to move the machine and use towels to prevent a potential hazard. Despite reporting this to staff on two separate occasions, the issue was not resolved and my concerns were dismissed. Unexpected charges: We were charged a city tax that was not mentioned during booking, and the hotel’s location does not justify such a charge as it is not in the city center. While there are some hotels in Milan that offer high standards of service, cleanliness, and location, our experience at Meliá Milano did not reflect the quality, comfort, or safety expected from a five-star property. I would advise potential guests to consider alternative options unless significant improvements are made.

We had a lovely stay at the Meliá Milano. We were able to store our bags as we arrived before check in and when we checked in our bags were taken to our room for us a lovely touch after we were so exhausted. We had a classic room, nice enough and a little outside area. Another nice touch of tooth brushes, razor and cotton bads, robes and slippers. Only complaint we had was their weren't plugs beside the bed, had to plug in beside the desk across the room. The air con and lights operated by touch screens beside the beds. Lots of pillows really comfortable. The only thing I knock the hotel down for is on our 2nd night we had a knock at the door about 10.30pm, a member of staff needing to check our bathroom. He came and went multiple times before informing us we had to change room. This caused me great anxiety as it was late and out of the blue without explanation. While packing away our things reception rang and explained and said they'd upgrade our room. I would have preferred a heads up from reception before the knock on the door to relieve the worry we had about what's going on. It was a cause of concern and made us crater uncomfortable as we were chilling in our hotel robes after a busy day. However our upgraded room was lovely, massive comfy bed, usb, usb c and plugs beside the bed massive plus. Complementary water and chocolates were delivered in on the Sunday night which was appreciated. We also stayed for my partners 30th birthday and the hotel we're amazing with us finding some bubbles, balloons and a cake after our night at the San Siro. The staff on reception couldn't do enough to help and answered our queries about getting places and provided a map. We would definitely return, the hotel is so conveniently located - just round the corner from the Lotto station - straight line to the Duomo and on the M4 to the San Siro. Lovely supermarket just round the corner too. Tip we emptied the mini bar so we could keep our own drinks cold and then replaced them all back in the fridge before leaving.

We stayed at Melia Milano for two nights and had a great experience. The location is perfect; very close to the metro, and you can reach the Duomo directly. Our room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're visiting Milan.
