The south of Italy is home to some of the country's great treasures, but few can match the comfortable surroundings of Il Melograno, a Relais & Chateaux property exquisitely in tune with its breathtaking surroundings. Nestled among ancient olive trees that provide the hotel's kitchen with its unique oil, Il Melograno offers a rich array of flavors that inspire all the senses just minutes from the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Building on its 16th-century heritage as an august farmhouse in a region known as "the land of wine," Il Melograno recently received an impeccable restoration to unite its old world charms with modern amenities and comforts. The result is an intimate southern Italian retreat with a personal attention to detail that makes you feel right at home. Take advantage of the hotel's private beach club, Le Tamerici, with its large sandy beach as an ideal place to spend a day by the sea. For the spa-minded guest, choose from a number of amenities at the 5000-square foot facility, which includes a gym and specialized Italian massages and treatments. The exclusive relationship between the spa and French cosmetics house Orlane, delivers the pampering you deserve.

Nice but not five stars (as claimed). Hotel needs to improve its maintenance as some areas are neglected and worn, such as a stains on the pool walls, bedroom doors which let in light and insects, dirty areas... The staff are generally friendly but need better training. The breakfast buffet is an uncontrolled "feeding zone" where children are allowed to pick the food with their hands, breath/cough over the food, with staff not intervening, not to mention kids reeking havoc at all hours and yelling everywhere! This place would benefit from being 'adults only'.

Lovely 2 night stay in this hotel in the olives groves outside Monopoli...The hotel room was nice and very comfortable, service was excellent. The restaurant was the best dinner meal we had during our trip in Italy. Pool was really nice! The challenge with the property is that it is a bit worn out and needs updating and refurbishing especially in the outdoor spaces.

Stunning place to relax and let the world go by. All the team were wonderful, starting with the check-in, and the sommelier at dinner was super too. The tasting menu was well worth trying, as is the courtesy shuttle to the private lido for an afternoon relaxation. Super place that I would highly recommend.

The location is a bit out of town - so probably not a top choice for beachy people or those wanting a walkable downtown experience, but if that's not your vibe, then it's outstanding! Beautiful grounds with hundreds-of-years-old olive trees. Quiet, peaceful serenity. Easy, free, secure parking. Large, comfortable rooms. And, then there's the food . . . top notch! A really nice breakfast with many delicious choices, plus a cook to order menu. The dinner restaurant is so professional and outstanding. Our wine steward, in particular, was very knowledgable and helped us choose a phenomenal wine, without "upselling". This masseria was one of our favorite stays during our trip to Puglia.

Purports to be a 5 star hotel but not in any way one would expect. There are absolutely no frills . Only liquid dispensers in bathrooms. No cotton wool , cotton buds , nail accessories etc. No chocolate or small snack at turndown. 3 tiny packets of snacks on arrival. Service minimal without a smile. Solid 3 star. No value for money charged .

Delightful hotel property, a fitting member of Relais and Chateaux. The rooms are large and exquisite, the grounds beautiful (with pomegranates growing in abundance), and the pool a delight. The food is the usual high standard of the Relais and Chateaux group. All in all, a delightful experience.
