The south of Italy is home to some of the country's great treasures, but few can match the comfortable surroundings of Il Melograno, a Relais & Chateaux property exquisitely in tune with its breathtaking surroundings. Nestled among ancient olive trees that provide the hotel's kitchen with its unique oil, Il Melograno offers a rich array of flavors that inspire all the senses just minutes from the shores of the Adriatic Sea. Building on its 16th-century heritage as an august farmhouse in a region known as "the land of wine," Il Melograno recently received an impeccable restoration to unite its old world charms with modern amenities and comforts. The result is an intimate southern Italian retreat with a personal attention to detail that makes you feel right at home. Take advantage of the hotel's private beach club, Le Tamerici, with its large sandy beach as an ideal place to spend a day by the sea. For the spa-minded guest, choose from a number of amenities at the 5000-square foot facility, which includes a gym and specialized Italian massages and treatments. The exclusive relationship between the spa and French cosmetics house Orlane, delivers the pampering you deserve.

Overall it was a mixed experience for us. Hotel is in the outskirts of the city so you need a car. Our room which has a living and sleeping area was adequate but dated. The tiles and steps between the two rooms made it a bit tricky with kids. We thought the breakfast was good however there are no lunch options and for dinner there’s only one restaurant which doesn’t have any kid friendly options. As a result we weren’t able to dine in. The amenities were adequate with the 2 pools. Service however was lacking with service staff being unresponsive and looked unhappy. The cleaning was inadequate, one afternoon after the room was turned over we found shards of broken glass that the front desk refused to believe was there, they did finally send someone but cleaning with a broom doesn’t suffice in a hotel you need vacuums. I also found a spider in the room another day. The beach club they claim you have access to will try to fleece you which was an unpleasant experience and so we didn’t return to it, not to mention the beach is very rocky and not swimmable. For what we paid per night we expected much more from this hotel.

We were in the area and had dinner in their very sterile dining room, no Italians besides the staff. my 30€ ciroc vodka tonic was sold to me as an exotic special vodka (hello? It’s French, the country next door) we had a skimpy portioned dinner. The premises felt like a 3 star hotel in Mexico. Nothing special. BTW, I’ve been living in italy full time for 10 years.

A beautiful hotel set in peaceful surroundings. Spacious , well furnished rooms with coffee and tea making facilities. Delicious breakfast served by the pool . Dinner is a gourmet experience, 200 euros for two without wine . Every small detail is taken care of , we hope to return. No rooms have a balcony or terrace .

I highly recommend this gorgeous resort. The staff is phenomenal and the restaurant is sensational. My wife and I rate their restaurant as #1 during our two week vacation. Our concierge, Alexandra was exceptional. This is a must stay if you’re in Puglia near the coast. Close to the Trulli and other special spots

Amazing hotel in the countryside ten minutes drive from Monopoli. Due to the location of the hotel we rented a car from Bari airport for our stay. Should you wish to travel outside of the hotel and explore the surrounding areas a car is essential. The hotel is beautiful and quite unique with numerous olive trees in the grounds. The room was spacious and very nicely furnished with a comfortable bed, the bathroom was large with an amazing shower and double wash basins. the indoor pool was very impressive as was the outdoor one. The grounds are quite extensive and good for a stroll around after dining. The hotel staff were always polite, friendly and helpful. Monopoli old town is very traditional lovely Italian with numerous restaurants and bars. We found II Melograno to be a beautiful and extremely comfortable hotel and would certainly return.

Delightful hotel property, a fitting member of Relais and Chateaux. The rooms are large and exquisite, the grounds beautiful (with pomegranates growing in abundance), and the pool a delight. The food is the usual high standard of the Relais and Chateaux group. All in all, a delightful experience.
