Reviews for Grotta Giusti Hotel & Spa

Dangerous

PLEASE beware. I stayed here and was so excited for the mineral water spa. While in the indoor spa “circuit” I went into the warm pool. It is very shallow but I almost drowned. While underwater, out of nowhere, my hair was sucked into some sort of suction. My mouth was maybe 2 inches from the surface but I was completely stuck and trapped underwater. The suction was so strong I couldn’t free myself. My friend was there, thank goodness, and she had to pull me so hard that my hair ripped, the sound was awful and extraordinary painful. I lost a chunk of hair and it was obviously painful. It was a terrifying experience and I would have drown if I was in there alone. There was no warning of this suction, just a warning not to dive. The suction was virtually invisible as it was the same color as the stone and the lighting in the area was dim. I let the spa know what happened with the intention of them taking it as a safety issue and putting some sort of warning for others, as this has the potential to cause drowning, especially if this happened to someone and they were alone. Miranda was the lady at the spa I believe, and she said that she would inform the spa manager and hotel, she seemed horrified and was very apologetic. However, nothing happened. We checked out at 7am the next day and I told the man at the front desk about the experience, he shrugged. I gave him the heads up that I would be writing a review so that they weren’t surprised reading this. In terms of the hotel, we were unimpressed by the food and service. Even if the experience in the spa didn’t happen, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel as the service was poor for a spa/resort and the food wasn’t good. The main pool outside was also dirty, so we didn’t get in the water. As hotel guests, the thermal cave costs an additional 50 euro to walk through (it was beautiful, though) and somewhere around 300 euro to be able to go into the cave water as it requires a diver to assist you. The website didn’t make it clear at all that you had to pay as a hotel guest to use these two amenities. Lastly, we both got a mud mask massage. We were in different rooms and afterwards discussed our experience. My friend was shocked when I said the masseuse put the mask on my back and left for about 15 mins. During the time my friend was getting her mask, her masseuses massaged her legs and feet while the mask dried. I paid for 2 of the same massages, so I don’t know why my masseuse left for that time. I’ve been to other Italian hotels and spas, this one is weird, poor service, and the spa is unsafe. Steer clear.

The property is beautiful and the rooms were very clean, but the overall experience did not meet Autograph Collection

Grotta Giusti sits on a beautiful property, and the rooms and spa areas were very clean. The location and natural setting are truly special. However, the service didn’t match the setting. We arrived early and were told we’d receive a tour of the amenities, but after choosing to have lunch first, the tour was never offered again. Staff throughout the stay felt cold and disengaged. Food options were limited, expensive, and available only during narrow hours. Breakfast was €20 for a basic, picked‑over buffet, and dinner doesn’t start until 7:30 PM. Several amenities advertised online — including an outdoor pool and the outdoor bar/restaurant — were closed with no notice. The grotto steam bath was the biggest disappointment. We paid €50 each expecting the serene blue‑water experience shown online, but the grotto had very little water and no seating near it. The real experience didn’t match the marketing at all. For a resort at this level, I also expected basic concierge support (car rentals, bikes, excursions), but none was available. Beautiful place, but the guest experience needs improvement.

A fabulous stay...

We’ve recently returned from a fantastic stay at Grotta Giusti Thermal Spa Resort, and it proved to be a truly memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and genuine. The team throughout the hotel were consistently friendly, attentive, and always willing to help, which made a real difference to our stay. The setting itself is quite unique, with the spa being a standout feature. The natural thermal cave is unlike anything we’ve experienced before. It was incredibly peaceful and atmospheric space that allows you to completely switch off and relax. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely view over the front of the hotel. Very peaceful, listening to the birds in the morning and providing the perfect place to unwind after spending time in the spa. While we didn’t dine at the hotel in the evening, breakfast each morning was a real highlight. A great selection, high-quality produce, and a relaxed start to the day. Overall, it was a wonderfully calming stay, offering something a little different and very special. A place we would certainly recommend and happily return to.

Being a 5 star hotel you would expect a better customer service

Grand deluxe room nice and clean. Room’s terrace kept in poor condition, never cleaned. Resort’s general condition was below average. Main large outdoor pool closed before our booking and never been informed about it until check in at the hotel. Staff generally nice but some are rude with customers.
