This place is a dream! The service is impeccable, they just don’t know the word “no”. Food was delicious, golf was fantastic … it’s a place we will definitely go back!!!

way off the beaten track. Gourgous location. Very good food, very nice rooms. Very romantic location. We went horseback riding in the countyside. The horse people were wonderful and take great care of their horses. I also played golf, great track, links style with rental clubs that were new. A great place to get away.

Castiglion del Bosco is truly exquisite, the perfect way to experience Tuscany in luxury while still feeling completely surrounded by nature. The property is impeccable, from the beautiful gardens and grounds to the elegant rooms. Everything feels authentically Italian, refined and incredibly well maintained. The service is exceptional and very personalized. The staff genuinely goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. General Manager Nicola Migheli even greeted us personally upon arrival, which was a lovely touch. We also saw him regularly walking the property with his team, and it was clear how hands-on he is with every detail. One thing to know is that getting in and out requires about 40 minutes on a bumpy dirt road. It wasn’t terrible, but worth mentioning if you plan to explore frequently. That said, this is a hotel you don’t need to leave. It’s a beautiful place to slow down, relax and enjoy Tuscany in a truly special setting. We absolutely loved our stay!

The Deer Poop: We paid a fortune for a suite but woke up to a patio littered with deer excrement. YUCK! We had the room for several hours that day, but nobody arrived to clean up the deer poop while we had the room. Even the lowly Westin Princeville (1/10th the cost) has people dedicated to picking up the goose poop that litters that resort. Staff brag about the deer on the property, so they are aware of the problem. Why can't they patrol the grounds for deer poop and clean it up promptly - like, before the guests have to see it in the morning. Probably because they practice American-style cost controls. The (Not) Quiet Room: We requested a quiet room, but got a room with patio (the one with the poop) on which we constantly heard music from the bar and noisy kitchen of the Osteria. Are the staff that ignorant of the layout of the property and the definition of "noisy"? The View of the Wall and Road Many rooms have views of the Val d'Orchia or other scenery. Our room looked out on a wall and road. If you are assigned 01FOB - aka #1 Fontacccia Bassa) - you have received what appears to be the least desirable suite in the entire resort. Not sure why we were considered deserving of the WORST! Scolded for Being Surprised by the Poor Quality of the Road to the Resort I was surprised to be scolded by evening front desk manager V for my failure to notice that the LAST line of the Reservation Confirmation email describes the road to the resort as a Tuscan "white dirt road". Even if I had made an adequate study of the confirmation email, I would NEVER describe that road as "white dirt". It is a rutted track with large rocks embedded in the surface, some gravel, and enough white dust to coat your car. Not to mention that we wondered if this rutted track was the correct route to the resort. The positives: The person in charge of the Osteria was great to arrange broth with rice for my dinner on the first night (to coddle my upset stomach). Day shift front desk manager E quickly understood our distress of the deer poop, noise, and view of wall and road. We were moved to a QUIET room with a view of the Val d'Orcia. The upper borgo is the place for a quiet room with a view. If you have never been to Italy before, long to dine with loud Americans who are extremely delighted with themselves for visiting Tuscany, and have tens of thousands of dollars to throw around, this is your place.

Everything starting from warm welcome at reception, to the breakfast and lunch, the overall service, the elegant comfy bedroom, the pool, and finally the farewell, was truly exceptional. Wow !!!
