Fairmont Monte Carlo

Amazing Room! I mean, you pay for this amazement, but the hotel lives up to the Fairmont quality (and price). We booked a F1 Hairpin turn room and were not disappointed (see photo). Our room was even '007' - which we thought was kinda cool. Just 'steps' from the Casino Monte Carlo, which we also enjoyed (there is a fee to enter, but 1/2 the fee is given back in gambling credit). Sadly the pool bar on the top floor said it was open until 8pm, but when we arrived at 7:30 we were told we could not enter to have a drink, as they were closing. When we commented about the 8pm open sign, the reply was "if we waited until 8pm to seat the last person, we would not make it home until past our bedtime!". We then went to the restaurant area for our drink and beer was fine, but my $20 Euro contain was a full glass of ice and I didn't actually taste any alcohol... I don't mind paying for a good drink, but this one was very disappointing. We had the breakfast buffet included with our room, which was pretty good, but I was disappointed to see a bird hopping around on the food. The check in staff was amazing, but each time we asked about the courtesy shuttle we were told it was busy or did not take us really anywhere (no train station, Princes Place, Downtown or the Casino). You should expect to hear sports car engines zooming occasionally in the late evening, though the sound proofing is pretty good (no complaint). The balcony was huge and we spent a lot of our morning/evening time just sitting there watching the cars & tourists come and go, while having a drink from our mini-bar (and smoking is allowed on the balcony). The room had all of the amenities we needed, including a face cloth (which is rare in England, Italy and Paris). Funny how a little thing like that means so much! Hotel is close to everything in Monaco, but of course everything is pretty walkable anyway (you will get your exercise). Anyway, I would stay here again any day - if my budget allowed for the splurge.

From the moment we arrived to when we checked out every staff member was wonderful. The hotel is in a fantastic location and our room was overlooking the hairpin bend. As we were celebrating my husband birthday ( who is a F1 fan) the hotel left us a bottle of champagne as well as chocolates, even a chocolate shaped F1 car which we managed to pack and take home with us as it was presented in a lovely box. We enjoyed the amazing breakfast on the rooftop, so much choice and delicious!! We also had a evening meal on the rooftop, although the menu for us could’ve offered more options as I did struggle to pick something, we both chose the prawn pasta and it was lovely with a big portion of prawns. Sitting on our balcony was my highlight drinking my champagne and watching the expensive cars driving around the hairpin bend ! Weather was great , very hot and a little tip is to bring mozzy spray as we were bitten ! We did a Grand Prix walking tour which was interesting if your a F1 fan but for me I found it a bit boring, although we did get our steps in !! Local buses outside hotel are free and take you to train station as well as other areas in Monte Carlo. We walked up to the palace but we got the bus back down. You get amazing views of the harbour!! Some posh places like a dress code so if your planning a special night out check that out as we tried to call in for a drink at the Buddha bar and restaurant but husband has his shorts on, long trousers only ! We went back the following night and all ok, it’s very bougie. Bar is downstairs and restaurant upstairs. Worth a visit ! We got a uber from nice airport to Monaco for around €58 but coming back I would recommend the bus to airport or we got bus to station which was a 5min drive from hotel then up stairs to the station , platform B we got train to St Augustine and then a quick tram to T1 all for €14 for two of us ! Buy train ticket at the train station, tram and bus was free :-) Another tip is after our day and evening out and about we had a night cap outside the lounge bar in our hotel with lovely a lovely sea view.

We stayed at the hair pin view room and the stay was excellent.. the staff is courteous and you can spot a lot of high end luxury cars if u are a car enthusiast.. the hotel is located near the casino and station is also easily accessible.. overall it was our best stay

Sidney at the hotel entrance was exceptionally helpful in sharing a map and offering guidance on what not to miss in Monaco. Check in and the Concierges whom we spoke to were very helpful. Priscillia of Amu at breakfast was so sweet and service-oriented! Also the staff at the Lobby Lounge were excellent. They were extremely hospitable and friendly, from the person who took our reservation to the waiters who offered recommendations and great service.

Great location central in Monaco but hotel pretty dated inside and usually quite difficult to get space by pool during peak season so they’ve built a second pool but still usually quite full and can’t always get space so more of a city break hotel than if you want to have poolside relaxing. Usually quite busy with a lot of people walking around in lobby and around hotel but good service at reception and in rooms.
