About the Hotel

Few hotels have a restaurant by Joël Robuchon, one of France’s most celebrated Michelin-starred chefs, but Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo has three. One of them is a collaboration with designer Karl Lagerfeld, who created a bespoke mythological mural to preside over the terrace pool club. Located in the heart of Monte-Carlo, Hôtel Métropole is surrounded by haute couture, legendary casinos (guests enjoy VIP, admission-free entrance to the Casino of Monte-Carlo) and the residences of royalty. The hotel itself enjoys a storied past: Pope Leo XIII once owned the property.

Setting a New Standard for Luxury in Monaco

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo is a masterclass in personalized luxury. After years of staying at the major global brands like Waldorf Astoria and Park Hyatt, I found that the Metropole operates on a level of service and intimacy that those chains simply cannot match. Unrivaled Service The staff at the Metropole redefined 5-star service for me. They were proactive, responded to every request instantly (A big thumbs up to Josepine), and—most impressively—remembered my name throughout the stay. It felt like a warm, personalized welcome rather than a corporate transaction. It has certainly raised my standards for what a luxury hotel should be. The Heart of Monte Carlo The location is unbeatable. You are perfectly positioned for luxury shopping and just a 2-minute walk from the Casino Square. The hotel provides a "Lifestyle Card" that includes complimentary tickets for the Casino, which is a fantastic touch. The neighborhood is impeccably safe and highly walkable, with everything from the harbor to the Japanese Gardens just a short stroll away. A Gastronomic Landmark The dining here is world-class. With Michelin-starred restaurants on-site like the exceptional Les Ambassadeurs by Christophe Cussac and Yoshi, you don't even have to leave the property to have a world-class meal. The breakfast was equally impressive, and the overall ambiance of the bar and lobby is sophisticated yet inviting. The Suite Life My room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and incredibly comfortable. The design feels timeless and high-end, offering a quiet sanctuary right in the middle of the city's energy. Verdict If you are looking for the best of Monaco, this is it. The combination of its prime location, Michelin-starred culinary scene, and deeply personal service makes it my top recommendation for the Principality.

BULLYING, Discrimination, and Lack of Accountability

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

*BULLYING, Discrimination, and Lack of Accountability* I had a deeply distressing experience at this hotel. As a paying guest, I was treated with SUSPICION and subjected to humiliating treatment by a staff member. When I raised my concerns, a female manager responded dismissively and attempted to minimise the situation, at one point referring to the staff member as “cute,” which felt inappropriate and gaslighting given the seriousness of my complaint. When I later escalated the issue, the General Manager showed no empathy, offered no apology or accountability, and ultimately responded by threatening legal action simply because I described my experience to the hotel directly. The way this situation was handled left me feeling bullied, disrespected, and discriminated against. Guests should be treated with dignity and equality regardless of background, and that standard was not met here. Luxury is not just about appearance — it is about conduct, accountability, and respect. Unfortunately, this hotel failed on all three. ——- I will add that the rooms and bathroom were old and dated. You have to walk past the bar in front of EVERYONE to get to your room it’s too exposed and it’s not for discreet clientele.

“I feel I was shaken out of my money, and I’m not okay with that.

We went to the Hôtel Métropole in Monaco for a drink and entrusted our car to the valet service. When we decided to leave, I asked the concierge to change a 50-euro bill so I could tip the valet. Instead of simply assisting, he responded in a condescending and demanding manner, strongly insinuating that he himself expected a tip just for changing my money. I then gave the valet a 20-euro tip. His reaction was completely unacceptable. He became visibly angry, raised his voice, and aggressively demanded 50 euros for only 20 minutes of parking, continuing this behavior for several minutes in front of others. This was intimidating, humiliating, and entirely unprofessional. I am fully aware of the standards in Monaco. I live in Beaulieu-sur-Mer and have been visiting Monaco regularly for more than 10 years. I have never, ever experienced anything like this. I am comfortable tipping generously when service is respectful — but I refuse to be pressured, harassed, or shaken down for money. What should have been a pleasant evening turned into a deeply unpleasant and shocking encounter that reflects very poorly on the hotel’s service standards. This behavior is not luxury hospitality; it is coercive and unacceptable. Shame on the hotel management for allowing the employees to do this to their customers.

Surely the best hotel in Monte Carlo.

I have just returned from this wonderful hotel when visiting Monaco for a conference. I can't speak highly enough of the fantastic service, ambience, decor and style of the Hotel Metropole. I was greeted on arrival with a wonderful alcohol-free cocktail and nibbles while the concierge and reception staff managed my check-in, giving me a chance to enjoy the ambience of the beautifully decorated lobby area. I was upgraded to a Junior Suite which was most welcome as I was going to be staying for 4 days and had a lot of work to get through while visiting. Everyone I engaged with from the concierge, reception staff, housekeeping and waiting staff in the beautifully appointed breakfast room offered exceptional service. During the course of my stay, I had cause to visit quite a number of hotels in Monaco for meetings and engagements and I have to say that I would place the Hotel. Metropole at the very top of what I encountered. Well done to all the team on an excellent service.
