Review: Disappointing Second Stay at Le Méridien Hotel, Monaco

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Review: Disappointing Second Stay at Le Méridien Hotel, Monaco Before I start congrats to the Lacoste 🐊cafe opening! This was our second time staying at Le Méridien in Monaco, and unfortunately, it will be our last. Our first visit was pleasant enough to bring us back, but this time the experience was disappointing in several ways. While the hotel is still large and visually impressive, many aspects fell short. The pool area was unpleasant — the stones around it were rough and uncomfortable, and the pool itself was filthy. The walls of the pool were ok but the floor was a disgrace for the type of money we’re spending! Additionally, the drains outside near the sunbeds were blocked, causing standing water and an unhygienic environment. We were told our luggage would be brought up shortly after check-in, but it took over 40 minutes to arrive despite assurances from staff. However, the main reason we decided to leave two days earlier than planned was the clientele. The guests during this visit were exceptionally rude and inconsiderate, making it impossible to relax or enjoy our stay. After speaking with a few other families who felt the same and also cut their trips short, it was clear this was a widespread issue. Also we were moved to floor 2 due to building works and the balcony had a big air con box. Hotel staff were amazing thought can’t fault them! It’s disappointing to see how much the standards have dropped since our last visit. While the hotel has potential, poor maintenance, slow service, and an unpleasant atmosphere ruined our experience. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

Disappointing Stay – Not What We Expected from Le Méridien

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Unfortunately, our experience at Le Méridien Monte Carlo fell well below expectations. While the receptionist at check-in did greet us, the interaction was minimal and felt far from welcoming. Once we arrived in our room, we noticed a strong, unpleasant smell. Upon closer inspection, we discovered visible mold inside the air conditioning unit (as shown in our photo). We informed the front desk immediately. The staff member on duty seemed uninterested and even questioned whether it was mold, suggesting it might just be “color” – which was hard to take seriously given the strong odor and obvious appearance. He said someone would come to inspect the room and that they would move us only if it turned out to be mold. We left the hotel for a few hours, assuming the issue would be handled while we were out. When we returned and asked about it, we were simply told we’d be moved – no update, no apology, and it was clear that no real investigation or internal follow-up had taken place. I also had to specifically ask for a room of the same category, which should have been a given. The new room was fine, but the overall handling of the situation was poor and unprofessional. The rooms in general feel dated and in need of refreshment. On a positive note, the hotel’s private beach access is lovely – a real plus in Monte Carlo – and our check-out experience was excellent. Morgan at the front desk was warm, helpful, and a breath of fresh air compared to the previous day. Despite the beachfront location and Morgan’s great service, the lack of care and poor handling of our issue means we won’t be returning.

Avoid unless it’s the last option, below average 4*

For 550EUR a night, this was one of the most mediocre hotels we have ever stayed at. They have four stars and they deserve all three The bathrooms haven’t been renovated since Princess Grace died, and the taxi line takes forever. Clientele is quite cheesy ,influencers etc, I d suggest paying couple of hundred more and staying at Monte Carlo Bay Resort next door. Pool is full of people quite nasty. Beach is ok but the water has lots of moss and seaweed and plastic on it

Excellent choice for relaxation but also accessing the sights

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This hotel is an excellent choice for Monaco. It is a bit pricey but the location, pool, beach, and beach restaurants are all great. We had reserved a partial sea-view room and were upgraded to an oceanfront room. The room was very nicely done, excellent bathroom, and the air conditioning was awesome, best of our trip. Awesome view of the ocean, beach, etc. There is a bus stop about a block away and the buses are clean and super easy to use to get around town, much better than driving. Location is a nice break from the city, good for families but also nice for adults.

A low key, family friendly spot in ultra luxury Monaco.

She said: A pleasant walk from some of Monte Carlo’s more touristy must sees (Casino de Monte-Carlo, Cafe de Paris, etc) this hotel provides a private beach front retreat and pool perfect for the kiddos. He said: We didn’t take enough advantage of this fabulous location. The two minute walk to the promenade puts you in the mix of a whole nightime vibe. Make sure you figure out how to go downstairs for the real party. The Kid said: Luxury cars everywhere and we saw parts of the F1 track! 🏎️ A kid’s dream! Also the waves in the ocean were😱.

"I just returned from a Luxury Link vacation and it was, in a word, amazing. My girlfriend and I took a Radisson Seven Seas Mediterranean cruise with an additional stay at Le Meridian Beach Plaza in Monte Carlo. Everything was perfect! The cruise was fantastic, the service outstanding and the ports of call ideal. The hotel was in a convenient location, delightfully maintained and exactly as described on your website. This trip turned out to be one of our favorite vacations."
