Very Comfortable Break

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We visited as a family of five, staying for 7 nights on an all inclusive basis, in 2x Premium Sea View Rooms. (Mum, Dad and three daughters aged 20/late teens.) This was a good value, very comfortable and enjoyable break. The resort site is beautiful. With immaculately manicured greenery, beautiful pools and plenty of bars/food outlets. Beach areas were well maintained, with staff in continual battle with seaweed - to the point that seaweed is present - but not a major problem. Staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful. Activity staff gently push for engagement - but not too hard. And there is always plenty of space to find a quiet spot if you’d like one. We never had problems finding comfortable sun loungers by the pools or on the beach when we wanted them. The food is of consistently good quality. Plenty of Jamaican fare on offer throughout the day, alongside the usual choices. Our girls enjoyed trying boiled bananas, braised liver, and fried plantain at breakfast! They also enjoyed freshly baked pastries, muffins and coffees from the coffee shop next to the buffet restaurant! At lunchtimes and in the evenings, we managed to eat in themed restaurants (Italian, International, Steakhouse) without reservation. We couldn’t book into the Pierside Asian restaurant - which was a disappointment as I would have liked to include it in this review. The rooms were very comfortable, with plenty of space. Showers and the air conditioning system were powerful and refreshing in equal measure. The balcony was well furnished, with spellbindingly rewarding views. The only item missing from the girls’ perspective was a full-length mirror. Drinks, including plenty of bottled water, were replenished daily. Maid service was good. They didn’t appear at all on one day - but that was the only minor gripe. The drinks from bars around the site did not disappoint. Never queues or a wait and plenty of choices, including cocktails. Evening entertainment was low-key - mainly short dance shows. But that was fine for us. All in all, a very comfortable and good value break - which we will remember for many years to come. Well done Jewel Bay Grande. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Simply Wonderful.

We have traveled to Jamaica over 25 times since 1998. We prefer booking all-inclusive resorts when visiting the Caribbean for their ease and relaxation. This was our first trip to The Jewel Grande, which did not disappoint. Our family consisted of five adults, so we booked a suite, which gave us plenty of room. The grounds and hotel were impeccably maintained. The food and drinks were delicious. The coffee and ice cream shop was a daily favorite. We enjoyed both pools and the ocean. The Jewel Grande staff was THE nicest and most attentive we've ever met (Natalie, Lamar, Damien, and so many others). Shamara made our Montego Bay mornings even sunnier with her bright smile and great personality as she seated us at the buffet each day. And of course, I want to thank our butlers, Lennox and Toby, who were always there when we needed them. I have three suggestions for the resort: 1. Please add fans to the buffet restaurant. 2. Include a veggie burger to the grill menu. 3. Add some live Jamaican music to the nightly entertainment. Thank you for such a memorable vacation. We will see you next year.

Amazing Vacation!!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Just returned home from our two week stay. What an amazing vacation, and it’s all down to the amazing staff, every single one of them. Special mentions to our Butlers Mr G and Damart, they looked after our family and were always making sure we had everything we needed. One love. I’d also like to say thank you to Kemar at the buffet, Kerrol and Sanjae at the pool bar keeping the drinks flowing. The entertainment team work so hard and kept us busy with games and activities (Witney and Eminem) you girls were unbelievable. Got to also give a big shout out to Jermain (you need to improve your connect 4 skills) my two boys loved competing with you at table tennis, soccer, volley ball. Is the resort perfect? no. But what resort is? My only criticism is the evening entertainment, it’s only for one hour and 6 days of the week it is just dancing which was very repetitive, the guy singing was amazing and engaged with the guests. Come 9:30pm it’s pretty much back to the room for bed. We will be returning and looking forward to our next trip to Jewel Grande.

Nice but not Luxury…

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

If Jewel Grande is your first all-inclusive resort, you might find it impressive. However, if you’ve experienced true luxury all-inclusives before, you’ll quickly see why this resort should probably drop the word luxury from its branding. Let’s start with the positives: the grounds are beautiful, and the staff clearly work hard to maintain the aesthetics. Our check-in process was smooth, and every interaction with staff was pleasant — you can tell they genuinely want to help. Unfortunately, they’re limited by the resort’s infrastructure and management. I stayed in Room B1002, a two-bedroom, three-bathroom suite. While it sounds impressive on paper, it didn’t live up to expectations. Upon arrival, we were happy to get into our room early, but the issues were immediately obvious. The fridge door wouldn’t close properly, one of the safes didn’t work, and the master bathroom sinks had major plumbing issues: the left wouldn’t drain and the right had no hot water. These are things housekeeping should’ve caught — assuming they actually cleaned the room before our arrival. We had to wait for maintenance to address the issues, and I reached out to our butler to reschedule our 6 PM dinner reservation. It was 5:15, and the crew was still working, so we needed time to get ready. Unfortunately, we were told that if we missed our reservation, we wouldn’t be able to reschedule during our stay. That was frustrating. Maintenance finished at 5:30, and we rushed to make it to dinner at Pierside for hibachi. I wasn’t prepared for the dining experience. Pierside is a small beachside space with no air conditioning — and with an open flame, it was sweltering. We only ate the steak; the chicken and salmon had been sitting out without any ice, and I didn’t want to risk food poisoning. That said, the chef was entertaining and brought great energy to the meal. We enjoyed the food despite the conditions. Throughout our stay, we realized none of the restaurants or common areas had air conditioning — including the elevators. I know it’s the Caribbean, but the constant heat and mugginess were overwhelming indoors. The buffet food was decent, but the drinks were mostly sugary with very little alcohol. Unless you want to pay for top-shelf liquor, expect a sugar high instead of a buzz. The beach staff were amazing — constantly running back and forth and always kind and helpful. Our butlers, Tyrone and Jody-Ann, did their best to make up for the hibachi situation, and we appreciated their efforts. We also paid extra for a private in-suite dinner arranged by the concierge, Issac, that was hands down the best part of the trip. The chefs and server delivered an exceptional experience with authentic flavors and warm service — absolutely worth the splurge. Back in the room, it took around 10 minutes for the hot water to reach the upstairs bathrooms, so we had to plan around that. The beds were uncomfortable, and housekeeping was inconsistent. Towels were hard to come by, bath mats were often missing, and small details were frequently overlooked. I should add that after I complained about not being able to reschedule our dinner due to the maintenance delay, the resort did offer a complimentary beach cabana as a gesture of goodwill. The beach itself is calm and beautiful, and I enjoyed the water — until I overheard guests openly encouraging their kids to pee in the ocean instead of walking to the bathrooms. That was a real low point. It’s also worth noting that this resort isn’t well-suited for elderly guests or those with mobility challenges. There are lots of stairs, and the property is very spread out. Would I return to Jewel Grande? If I were traveling with kids, possibly. But for a couples’ getaway or anyone looking for true luxury, I’d look elsewhere.
