Enjoyed a beautiful stay at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa! Booked a direct ocean view room and ended up with a complimentary upgrade to an executive suite (Thank you, Carson!!). We were definitely spoiled by the upgrade with two bathrooms and balconies with full ocean views! Our 12 year old loved that he had his own room and bathroom! We enjoyed Schooners for drinks and appetizers and dinner one night. The seafood pasta was amazing! Views from the deck were fantastic and got to see some otters playing in the water just below us! Tidal Cafe had great coffee and easy grab and go food. The location was perfect and we will definitely be back!!

After being married at this hotel, we were here celebrating our 30th anniversary. I took them up on their offer on room decorations, flowers and bathrobe, (well worth it, trust me) we were greeted at check in about our special day and even gave us a bottle of wine, then another bottle in our room with incredible decorations and flowers. They also recognized us at the restaurant with desert and champagne. We really felt special as this is a very special place for us. They even made a folder of our wedding day showing events that happened on that day along with our wedding with pictures. Oh, and the room was fantastic as well, the sound of the ocean right underneath the room listening to this all night was very calming with the sliding doors to the balcony open. First class in 1995 and still the same in 2025!!! Kudos to the entire Monterey Plaza Team!

We had a partial ocean view room and it was just so wonderful to have the balcony doors open and be able to listen to the waves!! I wish we lived nearby because I would totally escape here for a quick getaway. Monterey is such a special place and this hotel is certainly part of that. We can't wait to come back!! Pro tip... I think the Valet parking would have been $45/night. Street parking is free overnight and then you pay by the meter during the day. It looked like a very safe place to park. The area pretty much clears out after the aquarium closes, so it was easy to find free parking at night!

Lovely, traditional hotel. Decor a little outdated but beds were so comfortable. Beautiful views over the bay. I was very disappointed in the advertised ‘family friendly sun terrace.’ We thought we would be able to spend the afternoons chilling out reading a book. The terrace is tiny. Anymore than 2 families and it would be full. Advertised as family friendly but no shade in sight, not one parasol. No access to any refreshments and it’s very far from the main hub of the hotel. Two hot tubs, one was fine if a little dirty and the other so hot, I couldn’t even put my big toe in. A little effort would improve it massively.

Great resort for couples! We booked an ocean view room for two nights, the accommodations were fabulous! Location of room was great, we overlooked the plaza and bay and were able to see otters playing in the water. Bedding and pillows were luxurious, room was large! We enjoyed the hot tub on the roof, the live piano entertainment in the lobby each evening, and the Schooner restaurant for breakfast. PERFECT walking distance to Cannery Row shops and Fisherman's Wharf. We will be back!
