My partner and I stayed and the OMI for 3 nights at the end of July in the Library Room, which we felt was the perfect fit for us -- online and while we were there. From the word go, we were instantly gobsmacked at how stunning the property was. It was absolutely true -- if not moreso -- to the pictures online! We had arrived late, so our keys and instructions were left for us. The hosts were kind enough to leave soothing music on, the fire in the fireplace running, wine and an assortment of cheeses and meats. Again, our room was true to the pictures and extremely comfortable. We especially LOVED the automatic fireplace. Once settled, we took a walk around the grounds, which were nothing short of perfection in the way they were manicured; and, we were were greeted by a very friendly cat! A bit of history: The Library Room was once the was originally the Mayor of Monterey and the only room to have have a dumb waiter! Back to the room, the robes were probably the most comfortable robes I have every used...so much so, I e-mailed the OMI to ask where they source their robes so I could purchase one. Sadly, they never got back to me. In the evening hours, a romantic touch is added to the grounds with lights wandering and round to add to the ambiance. Additionally, I was absolutely thrilled to open our stained-glass window to fall asleep to the trickling of the fountain just outside our room. As for breakfast, guest-in-residence are given a choice between eating downstairs in the dining room or in your own room. We chose the latter. Breakfast in front of the fire was just too tempting! Guests do have the option to have a breakfast/bag put outside their room should they leave early for the day, and a refrigerator is provided for leftover, snacks or anything guests would want to store. In addition to that, a microwave is available along with coffee and tea all day. One criticism I had was that there didn't seem to be much...we...Monterey. If you want to go somewhere with lots of shopping, galleries, restaurants, etc, I would recommend going down the road to Carmel-By-The-Sea. Just beware: finding a parking spot can be a challenge! The only other criticism I have, is The "Library Room" has some very...interesting choices in books. And why is the guest-out book jammed amongst all the other books?? All other meals are left to the

Everything about the Inn is outstanding. My room, the Tattershall, was beautifully decorated and had lots of windows. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was small but the towels were great! I also loved having a fireplace in the room. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. It is within walking distance to town. I highly recommend The Old Monterey Inn.

An absolutely beautiful inn with fantastic, caring staff. We had the most wonderful time at the Old Monterey Inn. We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, until the time we left. Everything from the furniture, the luxurious bedding, to the thoughtful necessities in the bathroom, to the relaxing cheese n wine happy hour at 4pm each day is done to the highest standard. The dining room is exquisite and the breakfasts are extremely tasty. There was plenty of parking space even when the inn was booked to capacity, and there was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere every day. We were in town as part of our 10th wedding anniversary trip and our time at the Inn was one of the highlights of our trip. Its the little touches like having tea/coffee and biscuits available in the lobby 24hrs a day, and the fridge stocked with yogurt, water and soft drinks specifically for guest use. I noticed some guests using it to keep beer and wine cold. We had a fantastic time here, and were extremely touched with the beautiful little Christmas ornament we were given for our anniversary. We will most definitely come back here and highly recommend it.

My daughter and I stayed two nights (not long enough). The Inn is so beautiful and our room was so comfortable and lovely. The grounds are beautiful and Martha who was so wonderful with our check-in and breakfast. We recommend breakfast in the beautiful dining room with delicious food and fireplace. In the afternoon wine and cheese is served in the living room area also with a fireplace on. We will always stay here from now on!

We were very happy and comfortable with the property, service, and breakfast. The disappointment came a few weeks afterward when I realized I had left my jewelry bag in the room. I called and was told that they keep items for 90 days, then that they must have donated it because they didn’t have it. Given the price of the accommodation I would have expected a courtesy call or email to let me know they had found a bag of jewelry left behind. It was my mistake to have left it but I remain very disappointed they did not reach out.
