We had an excellent stay at Hyatt Centric Montevideo and were genuinely impressed by how much the team cares about guests and how professionally they handle concerns. We initially raised an issue about EMF radiation in the first suite we were assigned, and the response was far better than expected: despite the hotel being fully booked, they arranged an upgrade to the best suite available. That level of flexibility and customer care is rare. A special thank you to the housekeeping manager, Patricia Castro — she is outstanding and truly shines as a leader. Her attitude, attention to detail, and pride in service are remarkable. She made us feel like valued, high-status guests and raised the overall standard of the hotel to a level that honestly rivals many 5-star properties. She deserves recognition and, in our opinion, a promotion. Breakfast was another highlight. Gaston, the restaurant manager, went above and beyond to meet all our dietary needs — and did so with perfect English and a genuinely warm approach. He ensured we had fresh-squeezed juice, bottled water, eggs made to order, and even thoughtful extras like chickpeas, pasta, and creative avocado-egg “muffins.” We were blown away not only by the care, but also by the kitchen’s creativity. Service throughout the stay was consistently excellent: the room was cleaned spotlessly, requests (blankets and anything else) were handled quickly, and the reception team was always easy to reach. Every phone call was answered and supported promptly — another testament to strong management and training. The only real issue was the Wi-Fi. To be clear, speed wasn’t the problem — when it worked, the signal was fast and strong, and it’s obvious the hotel has a solid underlying connection. The problem was instability: the network would drop or fluctuate enough to make work calls impossible or severely hindered. The IT manager made a genuinely big effort to fix it, and we appreciate how seriously they took it, but the instability was never truly resolved in a way that made it reliable for business use. If this hotel wants to be truly unbeatable for business travelers, they need to address the network management side — not just bandwidth — so the connection stays stable under real working conditions. Overall, this has been one of the best hotel experiences we’ve had in South America when considering price and value — especially in Uruguay, which is generally not cheap. One note: Montevideo itself isn’t a major tourist destination in our opinion, but if you’re staying in the city for any reason, this hotel is absolutely a top choice. For PlaneVoyage, Hyatt Centric Montevideo is a top-choice hotel because of how much the management genuinely cares and the consistently high level of service they deliver—from thoughtful upgrades and leadership on the housekeeping side, to proactive restaurant service, to fast, professional handling of requests throughout the stay. Highly recommended. From PlaneVoyage, with care (and because we genuinely want to return): we’re sharing these suggestions to help make the hotel truly unbeatable: consider upgrading to business-grade access points with controller-based roaming, add more AP density per floor/room to avoid overloaded radios, separate guest traffic from hotel/IoT systems with VLANs and smart bandwidth/QoS rules (prioritizing video calls), tune channels/power levels to reduce interference, and monitor the network continuously (packet loss/jitter dashboards + automated alerts) so drops are detected and fixed before guests feel them.

This hotel feels new. We stayed in a pair of deluxe rooms, and we were very happy with the layout of the rooms. The location is good, opposite the Montevideo sign and the beach, and walking distance to several restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful, I'll recommend this hotel to friends.

Super clean and in an excellent location. I enjoyed my stay here loads. I had a river view facing room, and the cleaning was amazing! I also enjoyed the bar and the deli attached. The only thing that could be better is if they had a bar on the terrace. It’s an underutilized hangout spot, because there is no service on it.

For me, a rare 5/5 rating. To get 5/5 I have to feel I want to sacrifice to stay there in addition to it being good. This Hyatt fits that description... right along side my appreciation of the Beijing Park Hyatt, and much nicer (for me) than the Park Hyatt BA Traveling solo to BA for a week and never having been to Uruguay, I took a chance and ferried over for a weekend escape. As any pick travel planner will see, the Hyatt is not close to the ferry port, but no matter, taxi/uber is pretty quick. The hotel rooms are clean and comfy and provide good sleep. Staff is freindly and welcoming. This is not a big hotel. If you aren't paying attention, you can drive right past it. It is tucked into a high density area. I had a very quiet, very clean room facing the city. But, one of the best things about the stay was dicovering the hotel restaurant. I typically have a rule that I do not eat in hotel restaurants as they are usually thought of as a necessary convenience, and the food suffers because of it (I'm thinking of you Hyatt Centric Arlington and Hilton Arlington, and on, and on...). Anyway, what a great meal. Stay at the hotel and eat dinner at least once in their Plantado restaurant. Don't plan to stay here? Journey to eat here. The hotel is beach-front, though you need to dodge traffic across the busy street.
