About the Hotel

Situated in an historic 1882 building, Auberge du Vieux-Port boasts an illustrious past intrinsically linked to that of modern-day Montreal. Enjoying a close proximity to the St. Lawrence River, this former warehouse lay abandoned until 1995 when it was acquired and transformed into the jewel it is today. Now, this restored Old Montreal landmark offers an optimal location, refined accommodations and prize-winning French cuisine at the intimate Les Remparts.

Perfect Hotel in every way

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The hotel Vieux-Port was amazing and the staff were so attentive. I must give a shoutout to Louise and Alexandra who gave me fantastic shopping suggestions and were so warm and helpful. No question this is the spot to stay in Old Montreal. The restaurants that are part of the hotel were also outstanding.

Fabulous all around!

If you’re going to old Port Montreal, stay at this hotel! It is beautiful I live in the US. I’ve never been to France and I heard that this was like a little Paris without being there myself. I guess I can’t say for sure but it certainly felt like what I would think that should feel like the hotel was beautiful, so chic and quaint the room so well appointed. The shower was amazing amazing with a rain head and many many jets to hit all over your body. The water pressure was amazing. The Nespresso pot with six available pods that brought a smile to my face from me to ear…. The bed felt like it hugged me all night long. There was no waking up with a bad back like you do in some hotels…. The towels were not towels. They were bath sheets, gigantic, thick, NEW soft fantastic…. The charm of the room with the royal brick the French chandelier the wood floors just so beautiful. The lighting was amazing. The outlets were plenty TV was big. I can’t say enough…. The lobby was beautiful and the restaurant that I ate and called the lobster bar spectacular… I had the grilled octopus which was better than any other octopus I’ve ever had and to go along with the recommendations for food to eat in Montreal. I wanted to have poutine, however when I discovered that the lobster bar had lobster and crab poutine. It was surely my lucky day absolutely delicious and the espresso martini I had was also hands-down. There’s a separate review out here for the restaurant, but I just had to mention it along with the hotel. The service was also fabulous everywhere all over this hotel valet was seamless and they had my car ready when I had to leave very early with no issue… I didn’t eat upstairs, but I did go and check out the terrace restaurant just to take a look at the views and that was pretty amazing as well if I go back to Montreal, I will surely stay here again!!!

The Auberge du Vieux Port is More than ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This is more than a 5 star hotel. It is perfectly located in Old Montreal with an oldy-worldy and characterful feel but it is updated and luxurious . There are magnifying mirrors, great bath products and thoughtful shower caps in the bathroom and a Nespresso machine for late morning lounging. The view from the Terrace is spectacular and the attached Pincette à Homard is lovely for breakfast, lunch or drinks. The in house restaurant, Gaspar, has a wonderful menu and we’ll be sure to try it next time. But the jewel in The Auberge’s crown is the helpful, friendly staff like Alexandra who made great dinner recommendations and reservations, Thierry, our superb valet and Vonna, our bubbly server in the Pincettee à Homard. Many thanks for a wonderful experience.

Great location, great staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The staff working a this hotel are phenomenal and work tirelessly to make the guests happy. The location of this hotel is excellent though it is a bit loud as it is bordered by two popular tourist streets and entertainment. There are two metro lines close by which means You have easy access to the rest of the city. The common area aesthetics are also very nice. However, the bed mattresses and lumpy pillows were awful. They have wonderful sheet and towels but the bedding essentials for comfortable sleep were not there. I do not think the price is reflective of the amenities at this hotel. They serve coffee and tea in the am but it is isn't till 7:45-8 am and unfortunately was not always warm . They have two wonderful adjoining restaurants which they refer you for breakfast and dining. Not a hotel for an early sleeper or early riser.

In November, 2004, we stayed in Montreal at the Auberge du Vieux Port in Old Montreal. The inn is right on the St. Lawrence in a beautifully restored building in a charming section of the city. Staff were accommodating, friendly and informative in helping us make dining and sightseeing plans. We would highly recommend a visit to the Auberge du Vieux Port!
