Situated in an historic 1882 building, Auberge du Vieux-Port boasts an illustrious past intrinsically linked to that of modern-day Montreal. Enjoying a close proximity to the St. Lawrence River, this former warehouse lay abandoned until 1995 when it was acquired and transformed into the jewel it is today. Best place in Old Montreal to stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Old Montreal. The hotel was very clean , rustic, and large! We loved this place we had a great stay. The staff was great and the valet was perfect because we drove from NYC. When we come back we will stay here again.

Great location

The hotel is located near the pier and within walking distance of most attractions. Parking was off site. We did not have a car and found it was just as convenient to use local transportation or UBER. We were in room 312 facing the port. The size of the room reminded us of a cruise ship cabin. There was about 12 inches between the desk and the bed. We had to take 8 steps to get to our room. Not a big problem, but still we did not realize that we would have to use steps while carrying our luggage. AC blew right onto the bed. Luckily, it was cool enough at night that we just turned the AC off. Since we were facing the front of the hotel and it was a Saturday night, the outside noise at night did disturb our sleep. Not sure if a room facing rue St. Paul would have been quieter. Fortunately, on Sunday night, it was quiet. The hotel had WiFi which worked well. Front desk associates were helpful and answered any questions that we had.

A charming hotel in a great location for exploring the old town

We had a wonderful stay at the boutique hotel, Auberge du Vieux Port for 4 nights in August whilst touring around Quebec. The hotel is in a lovely old building, full of charm and history, very close to the waterside and in a great location for exploring the old city. We had a friendly welcome at check-in and we were allocated room 409 which was fine but after we exited the lift we had to negotiates a short flight of stairs to get to the room. We had heavy suitcases! The room was modern, attractive and quiet with lots of space to set down your cases. There was a large wardrobe with hanging space plus drawers, a room safe, an ironing board and iron. The room had a mini fridge and a coffee machine (but no kettle). There was a large tv and a desk area. There were complimentary bottles of mineral water replenished each day, complimentary slippers and dressing gowns. They had air con and free Wi-Fi. The bathroom was fine with large walk-in shower, few complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, large, thick towels and towelling flannels (which you don’t often find in the UK these days). They could have had a couple more hooks in the bathroom though. They have a nice roof-top bar that offers cocktails,, drinks and light meals. There are a couple other restaurants in the hotel. We were on a 'room only' basis but we did have breakfast there in the morning. They offered a reasonable selection of food to order and prices were not bad and portions big. We also ate at their Pincette restaurant which had a limited menu but enough choice. We had the Steak and Frites. The steak was beautifully cooked in a delicious sauce. A lovely meal. The hotel is very close to many eating places if you wanted to try elsewhere. All their staff were lovely, very friendly, courteous and helpful. We had a lovely stay here and would certainly stay here again if I found myself in Montreal.

Louise at the front desk was very nice and helpful including recommending a delicious restaurant where the Prime Minister of Quebec happened to be dining that evening as well.

Must-do in Montreal

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Understated historic elegance; attentive and personal service by staff and direction; so well placed in a safe, central, touristy and colourful neighbourhood. Excellent valet service for the vehicle. All the perks of a hotel collection, including access to a pool. The in-house restaurant -don’t get me started! After trying a few hotels in Montreal, I wouldn't choose any other one. Very appreciated- 5 stars!

In November, 2004, we stayed in Montreal at the Auberge du Vieux Port in Old Montreal. The inn is right on the St. Lawrence in a beautifully restored building in a charming section of the city. Staff were accommodating, friendly and informative in helping us make dining and sightseeing plans. We would highly recommend a visit to the Auberge du Vieux Port!
