Montreal is a city filled with energy, romance and culture, known for its splendid cuisine, sunny terraces, art and diversity. The same applies to Hotel Nelligan. Nestled in two adjoining nineteenth century buildings on picturesque Saint-Paul Street, the hotel is the perfect place to get acquainted with the charms of Old Montreal, like the Basilica Notre-Dame, the Old Port and Chinatown. The 105 rooms of the hotel feature fireplaces, exposed stone, brick walls, double whirlpool tubs, and tasteful furnishings. With such a graceful atmosphere, you will be continually reminded that this is a hip and happening metropolitan boutique hotel.

Room 306 (two nights) The really good: Checking in was smooth and efficient. Stall were friendly and efficient. Hotel and lobby and lounge area are beautiful. Room particularly the bathroom was wonderful Mama C dinner and breakfast was above average, food and service excellent and noteworthy. Complimentary wine and cheese tray upon arrival was a bonus. The just ok: Twice daily housekeeping service, including evening turndown service with complimentary bottled water (this did not happen on first night). Second day upon return from shopping @ 1430 hrs the room had not been touched. Apparently priority goes to cleaning rooms for new arrivals, so not impressed. Had service throw me some clean towels. This irritates me to no end. This was efficiently corrected later in the evening when the bed linens and room was freshened up, nice recovery. The room was fine, upon the next Reno I would suggest the provision of USB(s) and plug in(s) for computers, me crawling under a desk for a power bar is unsatisfactory. TV was unsatisfactory, as the handout for TV channels did not match what was actually available on the TV. The channel selection was hopeless. These issues could be easily corrected and are a basic requirement of a luxury hotel. The lobby and restaurant areas are beautiful, this does not carry through to the accommodation hallways which are quite dark and dreary. Great stay minus the minor details, but details matter. One other comment not related to the Nelligan was the garbage everywhere in the old quarter, this detracted from the old Montreal experience. Overflowing garbage cans and garbage on the ground was overwhelming, sad really. The noise from all the construction is distracting but again not the hotels issue. The highlight of the stay was Mama C for dinner and breakfast !!!

We absolutely love this hotel. We have stayed there for several years each November during Thanksgiving until the renovations began. Since we have a family of three and the rooms were no longer double queen beds, we began to stay at other nearby hotels, but I would highly recommend this hotel. I don't know if they still have rooms without two beds - you may want to check this since the renovation is complete. The rooms were always very, very clean. In the dining area, the coffee and breakfasts are excellent and we have also had lunch, which was very good. There are Nespresso machines in the hotel rooms and we always appreciated this. In fact, we purchased a machine for our home after trying this amazing coffee. We've eaten a few times at the attached restaurant and it was pretty good, but mostly for the convenience, since there are so many places to eat and drink in Old Montreal.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Nelligan for our 20th anniversary trip. The hotel itself is beautiful, the location is excellent, and our room was truly lovely — spacious, comfortable, and full of charm. We’ve had a wonderful time in Montréal overall. That said, the service throughout our stay felt inconsistent and at times lacked the warmth and attention to detail we expected at this level of hotel. There were several small issues across different departments which, while not serious individually, created a pattern that didn’t quite match the quality of the property. More than the individual moments, there were times when the tone of certain interactions made us feel less like valued guests and more like we were the issue simply for requesting standard service. We did share our feedback with management, and they were receptive and professional, and I want to specifically thank Gabriel for his kindness, openness, and professionalism during our conversations. This hotel has so much potential, and with more consistent hospitality and attention to detail, it could easily be an outstanding experience. We still enjoyed our stay, but the service culture didn’t fully rise to the level of the beautiful rooms and location.

A friend recommended the Hotel Nelligan. From check-in to check-out ,it was wonderful. We have never been to Montreal ,so we’re unsure what o expect..Our concierge, Jonathan Hug, helped us from seeing the light show at the Basilica, guiding us to great restaurants, and even booking my husband the best haircut he has ever had. We do plan to return!

Haven't been here for a number of years. They did a renovation that makes this place even better. Intimate, fun, service oriented. Rooms are very comfortable and easy to get around. This is a small hotel. It is in Old Montreal which has many tourists. but, it is easy to get where you want to be.

Hotel Nelligan was lovely, the location is superb, and the staff professional with personal touches. Our room was fantastic, bigger than any we had ever stayed in, and the restaurant was so delicious. When we couldn't finish our dessert, they sent it to our room for us to enjoy later

We recently booked the Hotel Nelligan. We stayed in a uniquely decorated and very stylish room. The king bed was heavenly with luxury linens. Every afternoon we sipped complimentary wine and ate French cheeses by the lobby fire. The staff could not have been more courteous.

We discovered nothing less than excellent room service, a first-class restaurant and everyone at the hotel doing their best to assure a first-class experience. While the weather was cold, the staff always made us feel warm, from our entry into the lobby, throughout our stay. This hotel is a definite must for future stays in Montreal.
