The hotel is well located and slightly dated room interior but has most amenities needed for a stay. Toiletries are sparse and tiny bottles of these are allocated daily, which was disappointing compared to other hotels. The restaurants and bar are good. Our main complaint was the air conditioning. We stayed 2 nights and the room was unbearably hot on arrival, and Montréal was over 30 degrees C. We reported this to reception who said the air conditioning was being repaired and to be fair the room was cool within 5 -6 hours, but was hot for a long period of time and was unbearable.. The next afternoon we returned from our day @ 6pm and the room was boiling hot again. We reported this again to reception as we were leaving for a last nights dinner reservation, and were told the air conditioning had just been fixed again and our room would be cool on our return. Unfortunately we returned at 10.30 pm to an unbearably hot room, again. I reported this for a 3rd time to reception who basically just apologised and said nothing could be done until the next day and asked me ‘what I wanted them to do about it’? or they could switch our room, which by this time was 11pm. We had a taxi booked at 5.45am for an early rise to get our flight so did not have the time or inclination to switch room and move all our things, as we had limited time to rest and so endured a poor nights sleep before our flight. The fact we had to complain and report our constant air conditioning problem throughout the duration of our stay and finding out each time that the hotel were already aware of this, but had not notified us or apologised was poor service. Montréal was over 30 degrees on the day we arrived and extremely hot throughout our stay. Basic lack of air conditioning ruined our visit and quality of sleep and we felt let down by the hotels lack of empathy, concern or ability to keep us updated. We would not stay here again and do not recommend this hotel for this reason.

I am planning a trip to Montreal this August & I contacted the concierge at Hotel Place d’Armes. Bryan was truly amazing! His thoughtful suggestions for activities and restaurants made our planning very efficient. Everything he arranged was seamless; I commend his professionalism & local expertise. Kudos to the concierge team for a perfect start to our vacation!

We love the Place d’Armes. If you want to get away to another country even for 2-: days, not worry about airports and weight limits, practice your French but not be frowned upon for trying, and leave in your own schedule,; this is the place to treat each other to something special. We have been to this charming hotel twice to celebrate our Anniversary. We love the charm of the Hotel and it is our get away to a wonderfully different country that you can drive to from NYC. The staff and vibe is that cordial Canadian politeness and every person represents that young, enthusiastic, international and totally professional group from all corners of the globe wrapped in the charm that is Old Montreal. We start our day with the breakfast and especially the Eggs Benedict in the ground Floor restaurant which also changes over to lunch and dinner. There is a another Asian fusion restaurant on the lower level. End your day and relax on the roof top bar. All of Old Montreal is at your doorstep. Bedding, Pillows, towels and toiletries are first class and the fact that the hotel is composed of 3-4 historic buildings linked together insures quiet as tgeee are a limited number of rooms on each floor. We will be back to “our place” in Montreal. Douglas Korves AIA

From the friendly staff to the exceptional rooms, this is a "must" place to stay when in Old Montréal. The location is ideal and the two restaurants at this establishment are top of the line! I simply cannot offer enough praise for Hotel Place d'Armes.

At the Hotel Place d’Armes, we arrived very late one night and had an unbelievable late night dinner at the adjoining restaurant. The hotel itself is very nice and well-maintained, and the rooms were great. I contacted the concierge beforehand and they really set me up with some great advice on restaurants and things to do.
