Le Place d'Armes Hotel & Suites

We stayed at Hôtel Place d’Armes for three nights and overall had a wonderful experience. We did have a recurring issue with our room keys becoming demagnetized, which meant a few extra trips to the front desk. It was a little annoying, but what really impressed us was how the team handled it. After noticing that this wasn’t our first time coming down for new keys, one of the team members actually came upstairs with us to make sure the key and the lock were working properly. Maintenance was also involved to double-check everything, and the front desk followed up afterward to make sure we weren’t having any more issues. What impressed us even more happened at checkout. We never complained or asked for any compensation, but the team had clearly taken note of the inconvenience and let us know that our parking charge for one night had been removed from the bill. It was such a nice gesture and completely unexpected. Things can go wrong at any hotel, but it’s how they are handled that makes the difference. We really appreciated that the team noticed the situation, took ownership of it, and did something thoughtful without us having to ask. Aside from the key issue, we had a very comfortable stay, loved the location in Old Montreal, and found the staff genuinely friendly and attentive. We would definitely return. This one feels particularly natural for TripAdvisor because it has a small negative, explains exactly how it was resolved, and doesn’t read like everything was unrealistically perfect.

This was our first time staying at Hôtel Place d’Armes, as we usually tend to choose larger hotels, but a friend who stayed here a few years ago recommended that we give it a try. We’re so glad we did! The lobby was quite busy when we arrived, but once it was our turn to check in, we had such a great interaction with Ali. We had just arrived from California after a red-eye flight and were exhausted. We were also a little early for check-in, but Ali could tell how tired we were and somehow worked her magic behind the scenes to get us into a room earlier. When she found out we were celebrating our anniversary, she surprised us with an upgrade, which made our stay even more special. My husband was going to be working quite a bit during the trip, while I had more time to relax and explore Montréal, so Ali took the time to recommend restaurants, shops and places I could visit on my own. What impressed me most was that whenever she saw me passing through the lobby afterward, she remembered me and would ask how everything was going. Such a small gesture, but it made the experience feel incredibly personal. She also recommended the spa, where my husband ended up having a treatment and absolutely loved it. Definitely worth visiting! We had breakfast at Brasserie 701 as well and really enjoyed it. The restaurant is beautiful in the morning, the food was excellent, and it was a lovely way to start the day. Our room was comfortable and very well maintained throughout our stay. The lady who cleaned our room was also incredibly sweet and friendly. Lisa was another person who stood out to us, very professional and welcoming. What started as a recommendation from a friend turned into such a wonderful first experience with the hotel. The location is fantastic, but what really made the difference for us was the warmth and attention from the people working here. We would happily stay again on our next visit to Montréal.

We came from Spain for a wedding in Montreal, and this was our first time staying at Hotel Place d’Armes. The hotel was one of the recommended options because it was close to the wedding venue, and we were very happy with our choice. The location is fantastic for discovering Old Montreal. At check-in, the staff gave us a map and took the time to explain what was around the hotel and where we could go. The complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby was also very appreciated, especially while adjusting to the time difference! One of the elevators was not working during our stay, but it honestly didn’t become an inconvenience. The hotel is made up of interconnected buildings, and someone from the front desk actually walked with us through the second building and showed us how to access our room in the first building. We really appreciated that instead of simply giving us directions. The beds were also very comfortable and coming from a very tall guest, that is definitely worth mentioning! We had breakfast at the restaurant one morning. There was a bit of a lineup, but the staff handled it well and everyone was friendly. Overall, a very good first experience in Montreal. Great location, comfortable rooms, and most importantly, a team that was consistently welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.

Aug 30 toSEPT 2026 This was our second visit to this hotel.Our first stay was perfect, but this visit was even better! The front desk staff were incredibly helpful in every way. We were celebrating our **50th wedding anniversary** and staying before a cruise. To our surprise, they upgraded us to a **penthouse**, and they also upgraded the other family members travelling with us.What an amazing surprise! The hotel is in the perfect location for exploring the sights of Old Montreal and is very convenient for getting to the cruise port. They even provided a **free shuttle to the port*. What a wonderful visir! We will definitely be back ! And be recommending to friends

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The location was perfect for us, as we had tickets for the AURA show at the Basilica, which is practically within walking distance from the hotel, very convenient! We did have a small issue during our stay with the room keys/magnetic cards, as they seemed to demagnetize quite easily. However, this was handled exceptionally well by the manager, Lyacit. He was extremely professional, kind, and genuinely willing to help. He even personally came up to our room to make sure we had access while the issue was being addressed. The team also explained that they are looking into changing the system in the future, and Lyacit followed up with us afterward to make sure everything was resolved. That level of follow-up really stood out to us. They also took care of our parking charges as a gesture of goodwill, which was extremely appreciated. We also enjoyed the restaurant on the rooftop. It was a really nice spot to grab a drink and something to eat. We tried a few appetizers, including the tacos and halloumi cheese, and really enjoyed them. Overall, every hotel can have an occasional issue, what really matters is how they handle it. In our case, the staff handled everything professionally and made sure we felt taken care of. We would definitely consider staying here again!
