We stayed for 1 night in a King room, 1308. The location is excellent if you are using the train. Unfortunately that was about the only good part, check in was awful, the queue was horrendous with only one person on the desk. The room was very small, we struggled with two suitcases so I’d definitely recommend upgrading if you’ve the same, pillows not comfortable at all and annoyingly the curtain had broken so was woken early as it did not fully close. I’d look at other options in the area.

Unfortunately only one night in Montreal.

The concierge suggested us upgrading to concierge level to accommodate our early dinner needs and early departure needs. We did and the decision was the right one for us!

Shockingly Small Rooms, Uncomfortable for a Family

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

My family (2 adults and one teenager) is currently staying here, and we are deeply disappointed, especially given the Fairmont brand's reputation. Our primary issue is with the room size. It is shockingly small and utterly unsuitable for three people. There is simply no room to navigate, store luggage, or have any personal space. The biggest problem was the bed size. We were provided with two double beds, not a queens. (I assumed a hotel of this calibre wouldn’t even have double beds.) This forced my teenager and I to share, and we did not get a single good night's sleep. The bed is far too small for two people; you cannot even roll over without disturbing the other person. Furthermore, the mattresses are very hard and uncomfortable. For a luxury hotel, this standard of bedding is unacceptable. The bathroom is equally cramped. The sink design is poor and splashes water all over the countertop with every use, creating a constant mess. There is not enough space for one person to get ready comfortably, let alone three. While the hotel's public spaces are beautiful and the staff is professional, the room itself feels like a budget hotel, not a Fairmont. We would not recommend this hotel for families or anyone requiring more than the most basic, compact room.

Potential is there but falls short

Stayed at the Queen E on Wednesday night as a family of 4 in 2x Queen room and sofa bed. The rate was already very high at $770 for the night with many other cheaper hotels available but we opted for the Queen E. The location is central, valet parking is easy, and the hotel has a good vibe in the lobby area. It can be a busy hotel as they host many events and airline employees. The room we had showed a lot of wear and tear and the sheets were very rough. The cleanliness was also questionable with quite a bit of dust in the room, stains on pillows and cushions, and dust (dead skin?) in the pillows if you hit them. Made us feel a little uncomfortable in the room. The mattresses were firm which was nice and the sofa bed was perfect for my little one. The sofa bed did open onto the queen bed next to it which made access to a 3 drawer storage quite hard. It was as if the sofa bed was an after thought. The food in Roselys breakfast was also very bad. I’m not picky for breakfast at all but felt compelled to call this out. For a Fairmont property I was shocked. I would not go back for any meal as even the room service was sub par other than the charcuterie board. Overall it’s a nice hotel but def not a full 4 star experience. I would not go back at any rate right now unless I hear they get their food and cleanliness together and especially not at the premium rates they charge. Good potential but just not living up to it right now.

A dump

We checked in the evening after a long flight from Greenland, trying to take a shower; the soap and shampoo bottles were empty; it took 2 phone calls and 45 minutes to finally get them so we could take a shower and go to sleep. The room was very noisy, turned out the maid has not closed the window behind the curtain; no wonder the A/C did not work well. In the morning tried to use the Nespresso machine, they had about 10 capsules; all used! There was no coffee or tea cup. They had an electric kettle but no tea bags or cups. The bathroom is very tiny with a bathtub which makes no sense, maybe a small child would fit; on the other hand when you take a shower the whole bathroom gets flooded as they have these idiotic half shower doors which keep about half of the water in.

I enjoyed three nights at the Queen Elizabeth in May 2024 and could not have been more pleased, with just a few exceptions. Let's start with the positive first. Every staff person I encountered was extraordinarily friendly, helpful, and kind. The Signature amenities were explained to me without my having to ask. I was greeted by name almost without exception and the person who cleaned my room left me the nicest note thanking me for a tip I'd left. It's those little things that make such a difference.

Everything about the property has been recently updated and it looks great. The fitness center is especially modern and well-equipped. The key cards are wooden rather than plastic -- another small detail that made my stay more memorable. The cocktail bar is hopping with a DJ and inventive cocktails - worth the price in opinion. In terms of location, you couldn't ask for anything better. Just steps away from the main shopping and entertainment areas, metro stations, and railway.

Now a few gripes. I booked a 420 sq ft. Deluxe Room which was supposed to have a view. I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite of the same size, but without a view and felt small. But for a family, it would be perfect because the two rooms are separate and the living area has a powder room. But the view... any room that is on the back side of the hotel looks out over the rooftops of office buildings and nothing more. Be sure to request a room with a view of the Cathedral or the plaza. And... the bathroom was tiny! I mean, really tiny.

The restaurant's buffet breakfast was as expected. Aren't all buffets the same no matter where you are? I ate dinner there the first night and it was excellent, but I never returned because the menu was so limited. Not even a salad! Fortunately, the room service menu offered a little more variety.

Final note: for spa lovers, the Queen Elizabeth has what I consider treatment rooms, not a spa. There is no relaxation room, hydrotherapy circuit, etc. However, the fitness center has a nice pool and Jacuzzi and the large changing rooms have single-sex saunas. I'd rate this property and my experience a 4-1/2 and would definitely stay again.

My whole family loved our stay at the Queen Elizabeth. It is a perfect location especially after taking the train from Quebec to Montreal. Our dinner at The Beaver Club was the highlight of my trip to Canada. It is quite rare when you dine in a restaurant that has lovely ambiance, exemplary service, and food which makes your taste buds jump for joy.

I was amazed with the service of the hotel, all your requests and info needs are fulfilled, and with great speed. The location is excellent in the downtown of Montreal.

I recently visited Montreal. My stay at the Queen Elizabeth was such a delightful experience I will not soon forget. I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is out of this world, they really make you feel like you are important, like someone very special, they seem to go out of their way to help you. A special thanks to Viviane who works at the front desk, she was so helpful and thoughtful, a real gem. I also would like to thank César who was a great help. They are top of the line. By the way, the food and service at The Beaver Club is excellent.
