Another city hotel as opposed to the Fairmont charm

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Fourth Fairmont we’ve stayed in and probably my least favourite. It didn’t have any of the Fairmont charm as it is very much a city hotel very large and a bit soulless. Saying that the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Breakfast was really good really wide range of options at the buffet and the largest and tastiest blackberries I have ever seen! The room was quite small and so was the bathroom but we had a great city view. Small little things let the room down there was a vent missing on the air con and a bulb had gone on the light which you would have expected this to have been checked for such an expensive hotel. When we reported them the maintenance person couldn’t have been more helpful and was utterly charming too! The outside terrace bar was really lovely and we were lucky to be there for one of the nights it opened, our other nights we had to have drinks in the restaurant as there wasn’t really another bar. Similarly there was no quite lounge area to relax and as there were a couple of conferences on the communal areas were exceptionally busy - we had to queue for about 20 mins for breakfast one morning

Get a room away from the lifts!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Excellent, busy, hotel usefully situated above the main station . Wonderful staff, great facilities, especially with Gold. However, make sure you get a room as far away from the lifts as possible! It sounds (and feels) like a freight train in your room 24/7.

Queen Elizabeth Fairmont Montreal

The location of the hotel in the René- Lévesque Blvd W is quite convenient to visit ICAO HQs and downtown. Next door in Mansfield St is Mary, Queen of the world Cathedral. Rooms are OK, nothing great to be mentioned. Breakfast layout is quite impressive.

A decent hotel with good services and comfortable bed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Decent hotel but outdated decor in the rooms. The shower door would not seal and leaked and there was no way to prevent it. We wasted many clean towels each time we took a shower to then have to clean up the water off the floor. It is definitely in need of a redesign as rooms looked like 2005, not 2025. Just painting and better artwork would make all the difference (and a new shower door!). The rooftop bar was excellent as was the coffee shop and market in the lobby. The dark and drab feeling you get starts when you walk off the elevator. It is a combination of lighting and decor that need to be updated. The bed was very comfortable as per Fairmont expectation. It was a quiet room (Jr. Suite) with lots of extra space which we loved. Compared to the Toronto Fairmont which we stayed in the nights before Montreal, it was a big difference. Thee hotel is not as near luxury as Toronto and no where near as grand.

Deeply Disappointed – Vehicle Damaged in Valet Custody, No Accountability

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My family and I just returned from our very first trip to Canada. We stayed five nights at Fairmont Tremblant and five nights at Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, choosing the Fairmont brand because of its reputation for excellence. We spent thousands of dollars on this trip and expected professionalism and accountability from a hotel of this caliber. Unfortunately, what happened in Montreal left us extremely disappointed. We entrusted our car to the Indigo valet at Fairmont Queen Elizabeth. About 19 hours later, when I picked it up, the tire pressure alarm went off before I even exited the garage. The tire was rapidly losing air. I pulled over immediately, and multiple Fairmont staff at the entrance saw what appeared to be a deep slash across the sidewall of the tire. Canadian Tire later inspected it and confirmed there was no nail or puncture object - only damage consistent with a cut. We reported this to Indigo and to the hotel manager, who promised Fairmont would be involved in the investigation. Indigo claimed their “very detailed cameras” would show what happened. After weeks of back and forth, Indigo denied responsibility, stating the car was “in perfect condition leaving the garage.” That statement is factually impossible, as the tire was flat and observed by staff right outside the garage at the moment of pickup. Fairmont then sided with Indigo and simply expressed “sympathy,” offering no accountability whatsoever. What is most troubling is not just the damage to the vehicle, but the dismissive way both Indigo and Fairmont handled the situation. A premium hotel chain should not stand behind a partner who fails to take responsibility, nor should they break assurances to a guest who spent significant money and trusted their brand. We expected far better from Fairmont. Unfortunately, this experience overshadowed an otherwise wonderful trip to Canada and has left us questioning whether we would ever stay with this brand again.

I enjoyed three nights at the Queen Elizabeth in May 2024 and could not have been more pleased, with just a few exceptions. Let's start with the positive first. Every staff person I encountered was extraordinarily friendly, helpful, and kind. The Signature amenities were explained to me without my having to ask. I was greeted by name almost without exception and the person who cleaned my room left me the nicest note thanking me for a tip I'd left. It's those little things that make such a difference.

Everything about the property has been recently updated and it looks great. The fitness center is especially modern and well-equipped. The key cards are wooden rather than plastic -- another small detail that made my stay more memorable. The cocktail bar is hopping with a DJ and inventive cocktails - worth the price in opinion. In terms of location, you couldn't ask for anything better. Just steps away from the main shopping and entertainment areas, metro stations, and railway.

Now a few gripes. I booked a 420 sq ft. Deluxe Room which was supposed to have a view. I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite of the same size, but without a view and felt small. But for a family, it would be perfect because the two rooms are separate and the living area has a powder room. But the view... any room that is on the back side of the hotel looks out over the rooftops of office buildings and nothing more. Be sure to request a room with a view of the Cathedral or the plaza. And... the bathroom was tiny! I mean, really tiny.

The restaurant's buffet breakfast was as expected. Aren't all buffets the same no matter where you are? I ate dinner there the first night and it was excellent, but I never returned because the menu was so limited. Not even a salad! Fortunately, the room service menu offered a little more variety.

Final note: for spa lovers, the Queen Elizabeth has what I consider treatment rooms, not a spa. There is no relaxation room, hydrotherapy circuit, etc. However, the fitness center has a nice pool and Jacuzzi and the large changing rooms have single-sex saunas. I'd rate this property and my experience a 4-1/2 and would definitely stay again.

The hospitality, the service, the comfortable bed, the pool, the food! Everything is always extraordinary here!

My whole family loved our stay at the Queen Elizabeth. It is a perfect location especially after taking the train from Quebec to Montreal. Our dinner at The Beaver Club was the highlight of my trip to Canada. It is quite rare when you dine in a restaurant that has lovely ambiance, exemplary service, and food which makes your taste buds jump for joy.

I was amazed with the service of the hotel, all your requests and info needs are fulfilled, and with great speed. The location is excellent in the downtown of Montreal.

I recently visited Montreal. My stay at the Queen Elizabeth was such a delightful experience I will not soon forget. I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is out of this world, they really make you feel like you are important, like someone very special, they seem to go out of their way to help you. A special thanks to Viviane who works at the front desk, she was so helpful and thoughtful, a real gem. I also would like to thank César who was a great help. They are top of the line. By the way, the food and service at The Beaver Club is excellent.
