Reviews for The Ritz-Carlton, Montreal

Flawless experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Really lovely, elegant luxury hotel with great service. Although it is an old building, with classic decor, it is well maintained and clearly has been renovated, it doesn’t feel old. The room was large and comfortable, with electronic controls for the curtains and lighting, plenty of bedside power / USB outlets, large functional bedside tables with drawers, a good blackout shade, adequate drawer and closet space, desk supplies, coffee/tea equipment and supplies, and a usable refrigerator (not just a vending machine). The bathroom had plenty of counter space, good lighting, wonderful soft robes, robe hooks, a heated towel rack, and a toilet with bidet attachment. There was also a tv for viewing while taking a bath. We were welcomed with a box of macarons, and there was evening turndown service including chocolates and a weather forecast. Carafes of fresh water are replenished daily. The night before our departure, we received another note and chocolate gift. We had a rather longer than usual stay (6 nights) and definitely felt welcomed, appreciated and looked after. Valet service was prompt and helpful, as was the concierge. Breakfast was good, though very expensive of course; we found a good all-day breakfast place a block away and there is a Starbucks two blocks down the street. We enjoyed afternoon tea in the Palm Court, a lovely setting, and also a couple of casual dinners there. I debated where to stay in Montreal, and considered the Four Seasons, which is always good, but I preferred the restaurant options at the Ritz. My last two experiences with Ritz Carlton in the US were disappointing. This stay has restored my faith in the brand.

Top Notch

Gorgeous room and amazing service. Our room actually had a fireplace, which is not common these days, and we really enjoyed it. It was a perfect hotel in a wonderful city. I don't often stay at this brand of hotel- but in this case, it was incredible. People very helpful.

Excellent hotel worthy of it's rating.

Excellent hotel with helpful staff at check in (especially Juliette). Room large ( 2 queen sized beds in room) and comfortable and amazed with toilet. Never seen one with such technology as automatic seat lifting when walk into cubicle, heated seat and controls on the bidet were many and varied! Received unexpected water and canapé when booked in room. Breakfast excellent with good and wide choice. Omelettes cooked to order and tasty. Recommend you sit "outside" by side of garden. Staff friendly and attentive. Well situated. All in all, I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Celebrating My Parents’ 44th Anniversary – Exceptional Stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We recently checked into The Ritz-Carlton Montreal to celebrate my parents’ 44th wedding anniversary, and we were deeply impressed by the impeccable service from the front desk team, especially Louise and Allyson. When we arrived, our room wasn’t quite ready, but Louise greeted us with such warmth and sincerity. To our surprise, she spoke excellent Mandarin and told us she had lived in China for eight months, such a lovely and personal connection that immediately made us feel at home. While we were enjoying lunch at Maison Boulud, Louise personally came to the restaurant to let us know that our room was ready. That thoughtful gesture went above and beyond what we expected and truly touched our hearts. After checking in, Allyson kindly offered a tour of the hotel, sharing helpful insights and ensuring we felt comfortable navigating the property. She then escorted us to our stunning suite on the highest floor, an absolutely beautiful suite that made our celebration even more memorable. Every interaction reflected the Ritz-Carlton’s signature excellence — warm, personal, and genuinely caring service. A heartfelt thank you to Louise and Allyson for creating such a wonderful start to our stay.

Bad Experience with The Ritz Montreal

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I am a Silver Marriot Bonvoy member. I do not usually write hotel reviews but I need to warn the public. We stayed in the Ritz Montreal forv2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. All was well until the first full day in the hotel. We arrived after a whole day of sightseeing and noticed that our bedsheets were not changed after leaving the change card on top of the bed and there were no wee wee pads for our assistance dog (who needs to go to the bathroom) that we requested from the front desk. To top it all when Housekeeping Staff came to our room, they pointed out that placing the change card on top of the bed means No Change in Bedsheets. We thought it was odd. We read the change card after checked-in and confirmed that the card needs to be place on the bed if bedsheets change is needed. BEWARE. We think their system for bedsheets change is deliberate to confuse guests and in addition, we thought that Housekeeping Staff switched the change card to avoid changing bedsheets in a daily basis. This experience ruined our anniversary celebration after spending over $700 USD/night. AVOID Ritz Carlton Montreal by all means.
