really loved this hotel. Great location in Old Montreal. Only 30 rooms so felt European to me. Big room too!!

The events of August 12, 2026 Between 10 PM on the night of check-in and 4AM the following morning, someone entered my room through either the entrance or balcony door (which was locked, but upon checking the next day, it was clear it could be opened with a key) and stole my watch and a complete set of jewelry from my desk. I noticed it the next morning and reported it to the front desk, but the uniformed police officer the hotel called refused to take any questions and I had to go to another police station myself to have an investigator come. In the end, after interviewing staff and reviewing security camera footage, no useful evidence was found, and I had to accept the loss. The hotel didn't even ask what was missing, nor did they show any concern. There were no security cameras in the hallways on each floor, the elevators, or outside where there might be a risk of intrusion; it seemed there were only cameras around the front desk and entrance. Although it advertises itself as a four-star hotel, its security seems to be of the lowest rank. During my 3-night, 4-day stay in Montreal, the hotel staff were unable to enter my room due to the incident. I had to go to the front desk myself to get towels and other items, and I was told on the last day that I needed to be present for housekeeping. I thought it would have been better if they had informed me properly in advance (the manager said they had informed me when reporting the incident, but I was so shocked and shaken up that I may not have heard them). I spent most of my time dealing with the police station, and I was so exhausted that I didn't even feel like going out for meals. However, I was comforted by the kindness of the police officers, the airport staff, the Fairmont in Toronto before I came here, the guides and drivers, and everyone at Air Canada. My stay in Montreal was simply one of shock and exhaustion.Because the fact that I was in my room at the hotel and the fact that my mother's mementos were stolen. Also, it must be unpleasant to have something in your possession that someone who was wearing the ring for their 10th wedding anniversary has poured their heart into it. Until I return to the owner...

Really modern and chic place with gorgeous, spacious rooms which were very clean and free from the neighbors' noises. The breakfast was excellent outside of the below average coffee, and the location was great for seeing the sights of Montreal and dining. I'd highly recommend the hotel for couples. The price was fairly expensive, so I wouldn't consider it a great value. The one major flaw we all agreed on was the attitude of the people working there, outside of one receptionist who was lovely (she had bleached eyebrows and was awesome). But the people working there were extremely unfriendly, particularly the tall guy with the beard, who radiated unfriendliness and seemed unable to even make eye contact with us. In response to questions, he just pointed us toward things we needed rather than engaging with us. We did not feel welcome at the hotel at all. I'm not sure if this was because we were with children or if they're like this there with everyone, but I simply would not return because the vibe was just totally off.

Hotel Gault was in the perfect spot to wall around old Montreal with easy access to the metro. The hotel is quaint, intimate, and beautifully appointed. The staff was very friendly, spoke very good English, and accommodated us with our every need. We will definitely return.
