I stayed here for two nights for business. I’m conflicted as the location, amenities, cleanliness and staff are great. However the room temperature in the summer is unacceptable. They are aware as they are able to provide fans but in a country where air conditioning is normal (it’s not Europe) and you’re paying 400 a night I would expect the room to not be at 26degrees at night. , This place is likely five stars in any of months except July and August.

The Hotel Gault is an incredible property in the heart of Old Montreal. The room was spacious, comfortable, and modern. Staff were fantastic, especially Ella, with whom we interacted many times. The room has everything you need, including robes, house slippers, umbrellas, hair dryer. My only concern was the room temperature. Much of North America was in the middle of a heat wave, so that isn't anyone's fault. However, the A/C could not keep up with cooling, and our room was around 75 degrees Fahrenheit at all times, which made sleeping difficult. Housekeeping took off the duvet and left us with a top sheet only, which was helpful, but the temperature was still uncomfortable. Even though we had a thermostat (or 2) in our room, we were told that individual thermostats don't actually control individual room temperatures, which was more than likely true, as adjusting our thermostat as low as it would go resulted in no noticeable increase in air flow or decrease in room temperature. On the last day we were there, we opened the windows (90 degrees outside), and that at least allowed some air to flow in. Interestingly, the gas fireplace in the lobby was burning the entire time, which seemed silly or ill-advised. (Maybe staff has no control over that.) Aside from being unprepared for the heat, this is a great property!

We had a spectacular room upgrade, which was beautiful with a bathtub and windows that open like doors. The staff was excellent. The location was super convenient and quiet. Highly recommend Hotel Gault!
