Exquisite property. Great location

The hotel is beautiful. The mix of an historical mansion with a contemporary hotel was exquisite. The staff was always friendly and helpful

Outdated and Needing Repairs

We stayed in the Luxury Loft room. The pictures looked great online but the slanted, windowed roof was covered in a sheet of ice and snow, so you couldn't really enjoy the view. It made the whole room dark because it was the main source of natural light. So I wouldn't stay in these rooms in the winter. The room also had a vast array of temperature and light control panels, none of which worked. A bunch of them had broken buttons. It was impossible to get just one or two lights to turn on and the room was really cold the entire time we were there. The fake fireplace also didn't work. It was supposed to emit heat, which we really could have used, but it wasn't working. It also made a strange squeaking sound whenever it was turned on, so we couldn't even use it for ambiance without dealing with that annoyance. Overall, I'd say this hotel is in need of a major renovation. It charges far too much money for what is a clearly outdated and under-repaired experience. The building looks super cool from the outside, though.

One of the best.

Fabulous hotel. The room was luxurious, clean and quiet although the technology was a little challenging for us old folks! The staff were all very polite and professional. The decor throughout the hotel was tasteful quality. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and this one is definitely one of the best.

Why wasn't I aware of Mount Stephen before December 2025?

My stay was exceptional. Hotel staff -- from the front door to room door -- was pure pleasure to interact with. I was pleased to see a hotel lobby that is both comfortable and rather expansive (for a hotel this size). My room was very comfortable and welcoming, clean and inviting. The hallway was satisfyingly quiet. Elevator that directly connected the garage to all hotel floors is a nice feature. I think Mount Stephen is comparable to the Ritz, Sofitel, Queen Elizabeth. I thought a pretty decent value. I'll return.
