Le Mount Stephen

Lovely hotel. A perfect pairing of old charm and new hotel. The president of the railroad built his home...and spared no expense! Beautiful woodwork and stained glass. The hotel was then built adjacent to the old home. We had a kick that when you walked into the bathroom the toilet lid automatically lifted and the fan started. The toilet seat was also heated. The public spaces were in the old home. We enjoyed breakfast here and stopped in the bar for an after dinner drink and a hazelnut dessert.

We stayed at the Le Mount Stephen Hotel for 4 nights in May. We enjoyed our stay. We loved the beautiful historical portion of the hotel. The hotel and service were amazing. We used the concierge for dinner reservations at Bar George. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a central location. It is a five minute walk to the Metro station and there are a lot of great restaurants in the area. The hotel restaurant, Bar George, is top notch. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.

I think I have found my absolute favorite hotel in North America. You enter via the beautifully restored Victorian home of Lord Mount Stephen, the first president of the Canadian Pacific Railway and President of the Bank of Montreal. Behind this is a contemporary tower of ninety extraordinarily comfortable and quiet rooms. The Bar is a fabulous riot of color and noise and the dining room, where we had a delicious dinner, is quiet and very stylish. Our bedroom and bathroom were super-clean and very modern - the bath one of the biggest ever, as well as a big rain shower with chromotherapy to help with relaxation. The lighting, blinds and heating worked very efficiently using a straight-forward screen, and our king size bed was perfect with just the right-weight duvet and good linens. Best of all the staff were both super-friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to return.

Le Mount Stephen offers an exquisite blend of luxury and comfort. With attentive service, beautifully rooms, and tasty dining, it’s the perfect five-star retreat in the heart of Montreal. A stay that will be remembered. Highly recommended!
