About the Hotel

Built in 1906, Le Montreux Palace is situated on the shores of Switzerland's Lake Geneva, overlooking the Alps. This opulent 19-century hotel has hosted Russian tsars, Sarah Bernhardt, Richard Strauss (who was inspired to compose his most famous waltzes here), and more recently, Sophia Loren, Miles Davis, Michael Jackson and Vladimir Nabokov. Famous for its Art Nouveau architecture - detailed frescos, stained glass windows, and chandeliers gracing the interior - this historic hotel is one of the best in the world.

Une expérience magique!

Fairmont Le Montreux Palace feels like a perfect home away from home, offering a cozy stay at a place that embodies architectural masterpieces from the Belle Époque, complemented by extraordinary hospitality. My mom Vesna and I were amazed by the interior of the hotel and warm hospitality from everyone, particularly from Miss Giovanna, my Vatelian colleague, and Mr Samir. Indeed, it's a charming place to unwind. This is a one-of-a-kind property that offers everlasting memories full of serenity, comfort, and a luxurious life. Every detail of the interior is thoughtfully crafted, preserving the rich history that dates back to 1906—you can truly feel its timeless charm while walking through the Grand Hall, where you can enjoy the magic melodies of the piano or explore a stunning library. The view from the balcony overlooks the breathtaking Lake Leman in the embrace of the majestic Alps. The Spa area is spacious, and it also includes a heated outdoor pool. The location is perfect, as it is nestled among spectacular historical, cultural, and natural sites, such as Château de Chillon (my favorite place), Montreux Music & Convention Centre, the Lavaux Vineyards, and more. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone, because at the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace, you can truly experience extraordinary Swiss hospitality and immerse yourself in the wide range of unique experiences the hotel and its surroundings have to offer. Once again, congratulations to General Manager Mr. Michael for his outstanding leadership of an exceptional team, continually setting the standard in luxury hospitality. P.S. Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Michael, et aussi à Madame Céline, grâce à vous j’ai pu découvrir l’hospitalité suisse d’un autre point de vue!

Stunning hotel on the lake.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This is a lovely, well run hotel with excellent amenities and service. The view of the lake is beautiful, the food and its service is spot on. Rooms were of good size with all needs accounted for. The event space at La Terrasse du Petit Palais is gorgeous and the food for a group of 100 was really good, well plated with outstanding service.

Our Wonderful Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I must say this hotel is a must. Upon entering, one is awestruck by the grandeur of the lobby and its staircase. Then, to be even more impressed with the check in process and the staff. We had arrived just a little early and our room was not quite ready. Rather than having us wait, the upgraded us. What a pleasant surprise after a long trip. The breakfast in the hotel was also amazing. Before entering the breakfast room, you walk through the grand room which is filled with history. The breakfast was more than plentiful. There was a never ending choice of buffet items, and one can order eggs to their preference. Staff like Alexandre and Fransisco made you feel even more special. The staff would ask about your plans for the day and then give you helpful suggestions. The Jazz Cafe is another plus to the hotel. The drinks in the lobby bar and the food in the restaurant were fabulous. For lunch, take advantage of their daily specials. The staff at the restaurant and bar were amazing. Victoria, Dana and Sebastian always made us feel like we were the most important guests in the hotel. There is also Funky Claude’s Bar. The bar reopened after summer break while we were there. What a wonderful selection of cocktails. There is also so much music history in there. Don’t worry the staff is so proud of the bar that one will get the full history from the minute you sit down to give your order. If one goes to Montreux, the hotel is a must.

Beautiful Hotel, Disappointing Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I visited Montreux with my two teenagers before they headed back to college, and the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace is without a doubt a beautiful hotel. The location right on Lake Geneva is incredible, and the building itself is stunning. We stayed in a renovated room facing the lake, and the view was absolutely gorgeous. The service, though, didn’t quite match the setting. Most of the staff we interacted with were polite and professional, but it all felt very businesslike. There wasn’t much effort to make a connection or add a personal touch, which was a little disappointing for a hotel of this caliber. The exception was the breakfast staff and the team at Montreux Jazz Café and the Lounge Bar — they were genuinely warm and welcoming, and we really appreciated that. Overall, while the property is impressive, the lack of warmth from most of the staff left me underwhelmed, and I would probably not visit again.
