Nestled in the heart of Montreux Riviera and the Lavaux wine region the hotel offers a superb location where charm and elegance are blended with modern day comforts. The Hôtel du Lac, a Relais & Châteaux property, holds its arrogance and legendary charisma, but also offers a gym, a Spa and all the necessities for today’s mistreated or merely fatigued. A tradition of hospitality, individualized service and refined cuisine which excell today. Entirely renovated by Pierre-Yves Rochon the hotel shines like a jewel on the shores of Lake Geneva. Let yourself be seduced by our restaurant "Les Saisons" awarded with a Michelin Star.

First time in Vevey...what a dreamlike small town on the shores of Lake Geneva. The hotel is perfectly located, quiet and away from the main part of the promenade yet incredibly accessible. Felt very much like a Relais & Chateaux property - intimate, charming, fun spaces to be able to explore. Room was nicely appointed and offered a beautiful view of the grounds and the lake. However, the star of the property was Leila - she was incredibly responsive in setting up reservations, checking in to see if I had enjoyed everything and remembered my itinerary. Please send her my thanks!

We travelled from Australia and Switzerland was to be a big part of our trip. We arrived after a very early flight from Vienna and were welcomed by a lovely young concierge out front - this was looking good. That was the highlight. It was all down hill from there. We were tired, hungry and just needed to sit somewhere nice and eat something. I went to sit down outside and the waiter shook his head at me and said no meals, so we had to go down the road and get a coffee and croissant. I’ve heard the Swiss are ubrupt so I just copped it sweet. Our room wasn’t ready, which we knew might be the case, we wanted to change before a tour at Chillon and were taken to the day spa to do so. We then sat inside the foyer waiting for our tour and no one approached us for a drink or anything. We were still hungry after eating just the croissant and coffee and then I asked if we could eat outside again, and I was then told I needed a booking but he would try and accommodate me. Anyway we ended up having a nice meal which was good. After our tour - another comedy of errors with drivers etc - we came to sit down by the pool and we were ignored for nearly 40 minutes. The service was lackluster, all while staff stand and talk with each other. Look, I work hard, I haven’t been on a holiday like this for a long time. You kind of just want to fall in to a holiday sometimes. You just want staff to faff around you a little. To have to constantly have to try and get someone’s attention is just poor, especially when the establishment is as expensive and allegedly salubrious as the du Lac. Then to add insult to injury we passed some new guests being shown where to eat breakfast and where the spa is. It was like we just got thrown in a room and forgotten about. It’s not good enough, and I won’t be back. I shall not be recommending the hotel at all. Disappointing but lucky we are only here for one night.

My experience was definitely not the same as some of the negative reviews. We did have an upgraded room with a lake view. The room was beautiful and luxurious. The bathroom was very large with a big tub. Large plush towels (always an A+) and wonderful smelling Aqua Di Parma products. Everything about this hotel is 5 star in my opinion. It is a beautiful place with fresh flowers and lovely decor. The staff was very attentive especially the door men.

No pool inside. Pool outside is too tiny. Because of marketing, on the website it looked better. Reality is different. Besides, no privacy possible. The lake around is not healthy. Full of cyanobacteria, feces, duck fleas...it provokes skin irritation. Even dogs d1ed because of that. Regarding the village, it's next to Nestlé HQ. Nestlé Water have big salubrity tr0ubles. They told me managers used to stay here. W0ke staff also. I will not entrust my children to them.

From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. The warm, personal reception and the beautiful aesthetics of the hotel made us feel instantly at home. Our three-night stay in a room with a balcony overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps was nothing short of restorative and relaxing. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and we especially appreciated the luxurious Acqua di Parma products in the bathroom. Turndown service—so often forgotten at other hotels—was a delightful nightly ritual here. The hotel's location is ideal: perfect for long, leisurely strolls along the shoreline and just steps from museums and excellent restaurants. Each morning began with breakfast, creating a lovely start for the day. Evening drinks on the patio, with a soundtrack by the talented piano player, set a serene mood—followed by a nightcap on our balcony, the perfect close to each day. While every interaction was positive and professional, several team members made our stay truly memorable. Guizlane from Housekeeping cared for us with such kindness that even without a shared language, her warm greetings never failed to brighten our day. Cedric in the restaurant provided attentive service and engaging local insights. Julian at guest services was an exceptional guide—his restaurant recommendations were perfect and he effortlessly managed all our reservations and transportation. This was our first visit to Vevey, and thanks to the exceptional experience at Grand Hotel du Lac, it certainly won’t be our last. Heartfelt thanks to the entire team for a truly unforgettable stay.
