Far from the madding crowd, in the Litchfield Hills, lies a quiet getaway. Set on 113 acres and bordering extensive woods and lakes, Winvian Farm was created to recharge and indulge. A place like this is difficult to describe for it lacks nothing. Winvian Farm aspires to host you with no airs but graces, no extravagance or opulence, only warmth and treats. The 5-star cuisine, the wines, the Spa and the team are as unexpected as the experiences that one ultimately enjoys.

The Winvian is a special place.... They have perfected the delicate balance between attentiveness and privacy, which is anchored around a culinary experience that was beyond compare. Every moment was well thought out and executed by the staff, we were impressed at every interaction, starting right at the front gate upon arrival.

We planned a weekend getaway at the Winvian Farm over the July 4th weekend, staying two nights—one in the Beaver Lodge and the next in the Woodlands. Both accommodations were beautifully unique, and as we explored the grounds, it became clear that each lodge offers something special and distinct. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, drinks, and time at the pool both days. While we had initially planned to dine at the fine dining restaurant, we unfortunately didn’t get a chance to. However, we did experience the main floor restaurant on our first night, and the food was full of flavor with a thoughtful menu. The staff stood out throughout our stay—attentive, warm, and genuinely enthusiastic about ensuring guests have a great experience. From the initial welcome to dining service and even room service, we felt well taken care of. Special thanks to Erin, the manager, the attendant at the pool (whose name we sadly forgot), and the kind woman who helped us after a bicycle mishap—each of them left a strong, positive impression. On that note: a word of caution about the bicycles provided on the property. They feature reverse pedal brakes and no gear shift, which makes navigating hills and gravel paths quite challenging. If you’re not used to this type of setup, it can be tricky—and in our case, a slip led to a tumble into the shrubs (thankfully, just shrubs!). When we raised our concerns, we were told, “you ride at your own risk.” Not quite the response we expected. These bikes are meant for paved, flat surfaces – not hills. That aside, if you’re planning a stay, you’ll find peace, beauty, great food, drinks, and exceptional staff. Just maybe skip the bikes, unless you're really confident—and maybe wear more than just a helmet, because the trees and shrubs don’t hold back!

Excellent service! Warm and welcoming staff. Accommodations were clean and ready upon arrival. Very private experience. Stone cottage was excellent! Very accommodating for Kosher food prepared prior. Thank you Winvian!

We arrived with high expectations and were pleasantly surprised that they were, for the most part, exceeded. A lot of thought has gone into making this a luxury experience and I give the management a lot of credit for finding and training staff which I imagine is quite difficult given the remote location. The team goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and helpful with anything you might need. We stayed in Maritime cottage which we thought was a great choice since we made a lot of use of the screened porch. The architecture is creative and furnishings in great shape. I imagine you'd find all of the cottages (which vary greatly) to be the same. Food is excellent at the on-site restaurants (upstairs more formal tasting menu; downstairs a la carte.) The prices are high but, coming from New York City where we dine out often, we felt the food was comparable to the quality at similar prices. Small fitness center on site as well as an outdoor pool. One oddity: they have unremovable hangers fixed in the closet (as you might find in a roadside hotel) which make it difficult to hang and remove clothes. I realize if I say "the clientele paying these prices wouldn't steal hangers" they'd reply that "I'd be surprised" so instead suggest that management just replace with removable hangers and assume it as a cost of doing business. Wonderful place - highly recommended!

We stayed in the beautiful Beaver Lodge. It was the perfect combination of simple and woodsy but with 5 star amenities. We loved the deep soaking tub and lovely porch that faced the woods. The staff for the most part were very helpful and responsive except on two occasions when I didn't feel like they got back to us in a timely manner. The food was delicious in the casual dining space but when breakfast was delivered one morning we found a hair in our bacon. That was really disappointing. You definitely need to prearrange activities before you get there as there is not much to do spur of the moment. We did drive over to the town of Litchfield and it was very charming with great restaurants and shopping.
