Amazing TreeHouse!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

My partner and I stayed in the TreeHouse and it totally blew my mind. The pictures don't do it justice. It's so whimsical but also so well crafted for comfort, convenience and romance. The staff were all very accommodating and gave us a wonderful tour of the property with fun stories about the history. Each cottage was provided with two bikes and I loved riding around and looking at all the unique cottages. I noticed the windows and bushes are also strategically located for privacy. I liked that. The property is so romantic and beautiful. If you need a relaxing get away or want to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary, I would highly recommend checking out Winvian.

Would not return, esp as unsafe for kids

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Stayed two nights in June. Wouldn’t look to return, and would especially not recommend visiting with kids, unfortunately. We had a very worrying incident on the first night with a speeding hotel-driven car nearly hitting us as we walked on the small private paths linking all the cabins. We had to literally throw our child out of the path, screamed, and were inches from being flattened, before the driver blankly stared at us and drove off The way it was dealt with at the time was truthfully bizarre. We called the front office to share what happened and ended up.. being routed by the hotel to speak to the driver directly. Weird and uncomfortable for us. The expectation is that guests have to tell your own staff not to endanger them? So inappropriate for guests that it was their approach to deal with it. And essentially no acknowledgment that the whole situation was crazy dangerous, until we had to spend time escalating it. I hate to be like this for what feels like a locally run hotel, but I would have no confidence in how this place is run. We had a nice time around the area outside the hotel, and the restaurant seemed well run. But we didn’t feel comfortable the rest of our stay as you can imagine.

Tough to return to reality.

I have never been treated so amazingly right from the start. I was buzzed in and met at the parking area by the person who buzzed me in. It was set in a beautiful area of Morris/Litchfield. Total peace & quiet while we were there - which was what we wanted. The cottage was amazing! The steam shower, huge tub, big living room....the place was huge and every corner was beautiful. It was beyond clean and the turndown service was so sweet! While it wasn't cheap, it was worth every penny we spent. The surrounding area of Litchfield was perfectly manicured everywhere you turned and every shop/restaurant/museum/stopping point was lovely and staffed by the sweetest human beings around. I can't wait to get back.

A Wonderful Getaway

This was a wonderful experience . The staff is terrific, the food is great, and the cabins are warm and charming. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful and the surrounding area, including the town of Litchfield, are picturesque.

Winvian Tasting Menu Evening

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

We arrived at Winvian with all the daffodils blooming all over the property....just amazing and beautiful. We were greeted by staff in the Tavern and encouraged to pick a comfortable spot to sit. We sat by the fireplace and started with drinks and snacks (kettle cooked chips, mixed nuts, olives) were provided. We then went up to the restaurant for our "tasting". To start off - the house is beautiful. Every room so tastefully decorated. We were greeted and sat at our table. A stool was brought for each of the ladies' handbags. The staff was so incredibly attentive and extremely personable. We really enjoyed them. Chef Ryan was absolutely outstanding with all his tasting choices. Everything was just so exquisite, the food fabulous, so delicious and so beautifully well plated. It was one fantastic, incredible experience that will remain forever in our minds and taste buds. Thank you for sharing your culinary expertise, for an amazing menu, for sharing your wonderful staff and giving our family a very magical evening. We will be back.
