Reviews for Le Mas Candille

Not what I expected

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I had high hopes for this boutique hotel. Unfortunately it didn't quite hit the mark that they aspire to online and in the Instagram nonsense. The hotel is beautiful. The interior design is wonderful, absolutely 1st class. A masterpiece of interior design pretty much everywhere you go. Beautiful gardens and grounds. The big let down was the spa. For these prices and the Clarins badge, the spa is way off the mark. We felt awkward on arrival and not really made to feel welcome. I've been to much better spas in the UK that are not pimping themselves as 5 star. My wife had a full body massage which was ok but lacked any special care. The quiet space had dirty glasses, used plates and other noisy couples, it felt more like a bar area than a spa. Steam room had a foul odur and not pleasant. The lady on spa reception made us feel a bit unwanted and annoyed that we asked things like where do we changed or where do we go next. I guess I was expecting a premier level of care and the reality fell very far short. Sat by the spa pool, there are some laminated menus with a minimal selection of drinks but no one around in 2 hours to take an order, ask if we needed anything. Sunbeds stained and a bit tatty. Hotel room was gorgeous but again lacked attention to detail. We had two twin beds pushed together creating an uncomfortable ridge between us. No milk for coffee. Plagued by mosquitos if you open the door. Comfortable and well designed just didn't deliver the 5 star. Evening dinner was nice, no complaints. Breakfast was another let down. Brought wrong coffees, buffet was pretty minimal and not what you'd expect. Slightly odd that you get charged for breakfast extras. Want avacodo with your eggs? Thats another 12 euros, very odd. It was ok I guess just not hitting a 5 star mark. Small selection of fruit, meat and cheese. My wife had scrambled eggs which were not pleasant. All in all, this is not a 5 star service. The aspirational 1930s art deco and the location cannot be relied upon to charge high prices without the promised care and attention you would expect. Its nice but I've had much better service and quality of facilities in far cheaper establishments. It is however the south of France, its going to be expensive and slightly underwhelming. Compare this to the Newt in the UK, which is a comparable cost, they are worlds apart in terms of service, maintenance of facilities and care of guests.

5* staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday whilst staying here and it was made all the more enjoyable by the thoughtfulness and kindness the staff, with a very particular mention to Stefano on reception, who is an exemplary example of great customer service! On the morning of my birthday, during the time it took me to descend the stairs to the terrace for breakfast, Stefano had obviously called the staff to inform them and I had the pleasure of being greeted by numerous 'Happy Birthday' wishes. I should also mention the work of the gardeners, as the grounds are beautiful, a pleasure to walk through. There are numerous 'luxury' 5* hotels in and around Cannes but what can make or break the experience are people like Stefano and the rest of the staff, Merci beaucoup to you all.

An Exceptional Week at Le Mas Candille – A True Côte d’Azur Gem 🌞

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

We just spent a wonderful week at Le Mas Candille in Mougins, and it exceeded every expectation. It is one of those rare hotels where every detail has been thoughtfully considered, and where luxury is paired with genuine warmth and outstanding hospitality. The location is ideal. Set in the peaceful village of Mougins, it offers a quiet retreat while being only about 20 minutes from Cannes and La Croisette. After enjoying the lively atmosphere of Cannes during the day, it was always a pleasure to return to the tranquility of the hotel. One of the things we loved most was being just a five-minute walk from the charming medieval village of Mougins, with its beautiful cobblestone streets, art galleries, and excellent restaurants. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. Recently redesigned by architect Hugo Toro, every space is elegant, warm, and beautifully curated. The interiors perfectly blend Riviera sophistication with timeless charm, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming. Surrounded by four hectares of landscaped gardens with spectacular views over the Grasse countryside, Le Mas Candille is a destination in itself. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The queen-size bed was excellent, the private balcony overlooking the gardens was a lovely place to relax, and the luxurious bathroom featured both a bathtub and a walk-in shower, complete with Clarins amenities. Everything was impeccably maintained and thoughtfully designed. The restaurants were outstanding throughout our stay. Dinner at Candela was one of our favorite moments at Le Mas Candille. Dining on the beautiful outdoor terrace beneath the pine trees while watching the sunset over the hills was simply magical. The Mediterranean cuisine with Italian influences was fresh, refined, generous, and beautifully presented. Every meal was a delight. Lunches at Le Pool were equally enjoyable. Overlooking the beautiful pool and the surrounding countryside, the menu offers fresh, light Provençal-inspired dishes that are perfect for a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine. The Glow House Spa by Clarins is truly exceptional and deserves its own five-star review. During our stay I enjoyed several treatments, including the Youth Expert facial, a manicure and hand treatment, a deep tissue massage, and daily LED mask sessions. Every treatment was excellent, and the facilities—including the sauna, hammam, cold plunge, heated indoor/outdoor pool, relaxation areas, and fitness center—are absolutely beautiful. A special thank you to Camille for an outstanding deep tissue massage and to the entire spa team for their kindness and professionalism. What truly makes Le Mas Candille special, however, is the people. Every member of the team—from reception, concierge, valet, housekeeping, restaurant and bar staff, to the spa therapists—was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay unforgettable. Their recommendations for local restaurants, beaches, villages, and hidden gems made our vacation even more enjoyable. Finally, a very special thank you to Pierre-Marie Ragon, General Manager of Le Mas Candille. His passion for hospitality is evident throughout the property, and his genuine involvement in ensuring every guest has an exceptional experience is remarkable. We could not have asked for a better stay. Le Mas Candille offers the perfect combination of elegant design, outstanding dining, an exceptional spa, beautiful surroundings, and truly world-class hospitality. We leave with wonderful memories, highly recommend this beautiful hotel, and are already looking forward to returning.

Perfection in service, atmosphere and attention to detail

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

I stayed in three 5* hotels during our trip to the south of France and this was the best - most comfortable bed and linens, great responsive service and amazing attention to detail. Sometimes it’s the “little” things like AC that can actually get to the temperature on the thermostat (I am very picky about this so it was hugely appreciated!), the giant bottles of Evian + free beverages in the mini bar, the comfiest hotel slippers I’ve ever experienced. I look forward to returning and wanted to share this review to ensure they know that all the information efforts were noticed and appreciated.

A little gem !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 26, 2025

First time visit to this pretty, welcoming and comfortable hotel. Friendly and helpful staff ensured that we had a great time. Would recommend Bastide rooms near the pool - albeit pricey they are larger and well provisioned. All this and old Mougins within walking distance. Pool bar and restaurant excellent - hamburger historic ! We shall return.
