The Charles Hotel Munich

We came to this hotel having left the Rosewood Munich and were instantly impressed. The property is beautiful and conveniently located near tram stops and the train station; it is also easy to walk from it to Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt. It had a very elegant yet welcoming atmosphere, especially due to the kindness and care of the staff, who exhibited amazing customer service throughout our stay. They made our stay special by giving us a large suite that was truly sweet with a discount; it was spacious, clean, and full of amenities, including a heated bathroom floor and a coffee/tea maker. The balcony and windows gave us a beautiful view of the city and the whole area was nice and quiet. The breakfast was delicious and perfectly cooked, and the staff were very polite. Housekeeping visited every day for both cleaning and turn down services. Any time we had any questions, we asked the staff and they were very helpful and friendly! At our request, they were able to book a tour of the city for us that picked us up right at the hotel and dropped us off again when we were done! This hotel was truly worth the price and we will be sure to stay here again whenever we come back to Munich!

Munich; the staff could not possibly have been more gracious and helpful, anticipating needs, unobtrusive, kind, effective and lightening fast in response to requests. We have never had better service anywhere in the world. The hotel was an easy ride from the Munich airport and check in was very easy (we have not checked out yet). We felt relaxed and taken care off throughout. When we travel that is what we want in our hotel experience, to have it be easy and accommodating. We are not overly demanding but it is so helpful to have the hotel stay smooth so we can do what we want to do in the places we visit. I do not imagine you could do better than this hotel in this city! The suite is gorgeous, exceptionally comfortable and the views are lovely. There were extras all along the way that the staff did to help us out. For example, they figured out how we could watch the men's final US Open match; (took some doing!); packed an off-menu lunch for the car ride we'll take when we leave here, and countless other gestures that made us grateful for the kindness!

My review is based on a few aspects that, in my opinion, fell short of what I would expect from a five-star hotel. Although the breakfast staff were very friendly and pleasant, they lacked efficiency. I believe better training would be beneficial. The quality of the hot dishes was also inconsistent, and the scrambled eggs were the worst I have ever had. Regarding room service, on two occasions our calls were not answered. We had to contact the reception desk in order to place our order, which was rather disappointing for a five-star hotel.

Service, accommodation, and dinner at Divola were brilliant. We were celebrating our anniversary and everyone made us feel welcome. Amazing room upgrade. The spa was very clean and the the staff attentive. Not too big. We will definitely be back.
