Beautiful stay at Six Senses but very expensive food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Six Senses Kaplankaya is a stunning hotel with fantastic service and always delivers a relaxing break. Having returned after staying in June 2025, we found the hotel has maintained its excellent standards and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room on the 5th floor had wonderful sea views and was spacious and comfortable. We could see some ongoing construction from our bed and it was a shame the aspect was not reversed as the view of the sea from the bathroom was amazing. However, it has all the amenities and is in keeping with the rest of this beautiful property. The grounds are stunning and we enjoyed long walks and time on the beach. We felt that the yoga pavilion, despite being probably the most beautiful spot on the property was underutilised in the activities schedule as no free classes took place there during our 4 night stay. In addition, it was a shame the bar (with the best sunset views) was closed. The main beach was a great spot and always quiet in the mornings but it was a shame they closed it to guests to set up for the harvest retreat that is now taking place. We were directed to other beaches for the day but this did feel a little odd to have the main beach cordoned off. Also, it seems a bit silly that there is a charge for non motorised water sports considering there are no overheads once the equipment has been purchased by the hotel. The food was very tasty and beautifully prepared. Breakfast is a stand out and the selection is extremely varied. The pastries were particularly delicious and the staff were always attentive. Sadly, the prices of the evening meals feel disconnected from reality. There has been a significant inflation since last year and the pricing did not make sense. For example, a salad, a flatbread, a pizza and a water at Anhinga came to approx €126. The same dishes served at Sage and Sea last year (e.g lamb kebab) are now double the price when served at Orta Koy. We enjoyed our meal at Orta Koy as the views of the beach and sea are lovely but we didn’t feel it warranted such an inflation. This was reflected in all the evening meals, and there is no real ability to leave the property to seek alternatives. It has put us off returning, as we struggled to eat for two people for less than €100 (with no alcohol!). The food is good, but definitely not worth these very high prices. Overall, the facilities and service are fantastic and there is no doubt the property and views in the hotel are magnificent. Our only disappointment was the over inflated price of evening meals and the lack of choice of outlets. We were told the food options will increase later in the season in late May and early June so I would advise checking what is going to be open before you book! The staff were charming though and we had a fantastic time.

Home of the $50 kebab!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

First time at this chain and it was not what we expected. This is a lovely hotel - really beautifully landscaped and planted - but part of a huge development on a remote bit of the coast about an hour’s rough driving from Bodrum. As of the end of April there is a large construction project going on at the neighbouring property, and the noise of jackhammers and bulldozers was intrusive on the two morning we had there. So if this kind of thing bothers you, maybe 2027 is a better time to try it. Given the location you’re very much stuck in the hotel (over $100 one way to Bodrum), which is ok given the fantastic spa and sports facilities at the property. However they know they have you, and the price of food and drink is truly eye-watering. $50 for a single lamb kebab - a humble snack that I’m pretty sure most people can get elsewhere for the equivalent of about 50 cents. Maybe this is why people go on all-inclusive packages in Turkey.

Pure Luxury with Exceptional Personalised Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I am enjoying an exceptional stay at Six Senses near Bodrum - from the moment we arrived to seamless valet parking and a truly beautiful room, everything felt like pure luxury. The space was thoughtfully designed, spacious, and aligned with their strong sustainability ethos, which made the experience feel even more special. I was celebrating my birthday during our stay and was completely spoiled with thoughtful touches, including cake and prosecco - a lovely surprise that made it unforgettable. The facilities are outstanding: a world-class gym, padel courts, incredible breakfasts, and a selection of restaurants that consistently delivered both quality and atmosphere. Also you are assigned a GEM (Guest Experience Manager), who creates a WhatsApp group to handle anything you need - responsive, seamless, and genuinely helpful throughout. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The only thing to note is that food and spa treatments are on the pricier side - but for the level of quality and experience, it’s not unexpected.

Magnificent, Professional, Impressed

The location of Six Senses Kaplankaya is really a reserved boutique. The sea view is magnificent. While the most impressed should be the professional and hospitable staffs. Thanks for everyone support especially Angelika and Anastasiia for the dedicated WhatsApp service. Also as a diamond membership, I was also give a surprised upgrade for the room type which I could enjoy an even better staycation experience. Best regards, Roy Han

Wonderful Six Senses experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

We stayed for 4 nights late October and there are many reasons to recommend this hotel. It's a beautiful setting, with a low rise beautiful modern design built into the hillside, far away from anything, and didn't feel busy at any time. I get the impression this is something Six Senses works hard at. We had lovely weather which helps as the hotel has two main sandy beaches. Oddly the family beach is a walk away (and loads of kids stuff is provided). There are two pools that I saw with only a few sunbeds but since most people were at the beach it didn't bother me. Our room (5010) on the reception floor was gorgeous with a massive bathroom and massive windows. Separate dressing room area. There are lifts but different amenities are on each of the 5 floors. The gym is HUGE and really well equipped and it has a separate reformer Pilates studio, yoga studio, spin studio, and the largest spa in Europe. We had a massage each and I had a facial, both faultless. The relaxation area is lovely too and there are both separate women and unisex spa facilities. Staff are super helpful without being in your face. Everyone was kind and lovely. The only reason I've rated 4 star rather than 5 is the food. Just to be clear, the food quality was excellent and both breakfast and the beach restaurant were exceptional but I thought the dinner menus were poorly designed leading with one ingredient (we live in London and I realise many top restaurants currently do the same) and a couple of evenings I really didn't fancy anything based on the descriptions but the food was lovely when it arrived. As it's towards end of season a fair few ingredients / dishes / wines were not available (eg no edamame on the Asian menu). Overall a lovely experience.
