A FEW SEASONS SHORT One of the comforts of booking an international hotel chain is that there is a baseline expectation of quality – even more so when it’s a Four Seasons, renowned across the globe for its consistency and finesse. Mumbai’s Four Seasons didn’t get the memo. ROOMS Our party of six was spread across 3 rooms, booked via American Express. One room on the 14th floor was exactly as advertised, with lush blue and tan upholstery with modernized fixtures. The other two rooms, on the 29th floor, looked like a 2005 Holiday Inn on its very best day (see photo – expectation versus reality). Worse yet, these were proudly proclaimed by the front desk as complimentary upgrades. Let’s be clear: a run of the mill Marriott would be ashamed of these rooms. A Four Seasons? You’d think you were on Candid Camera. The carpets were torn, in some places cut and taped back on with visible masking tape, and heavily stained. The window linings and bathrooms were covered in dark mold and rust. Showers had minimal hot water. TV harkened back to Circuit City circa 2010. What’s worse is that the FS website made no mention of rooms being under construction. No warning, no heads up, nothing – which the Manager of the hotel tried to dispute, claiming that it was all disclosed on the hotel’s website. It wasn’t when we booked and it wasn’t when we checked in. Once we sent him a video of the website right then and there, from that same night, he said he’d follow up with his Marketing team to fix it. A week later – nothing has been changed and I highly doubt it will. LOBBY AND CHECK IN I give the hotel some grace because constructions and renovations are a requirement from time to time, but how this gets managed is critical. Check in is currently in a temporary lobby about the size of one hotel room which cannot handle the traffic it gets. It’s busy, a bit chaotic, and filled more with staff seemingly yelling at each other trying to figure out what to do and who to assist. AER & BREAKFAST The rooftop bar is supposed to be a “must do” in Mumbai, known for mixology, vibes, and service. Our server was truly a delight – very friendly, engaged, and knowledgeable – one of the few bright moments of our short stay. The food? Meh. The drinks? Meh. Dirty martinis? Undrinkable. As it was quite chilly on the roof, I asked for a hot tea and was told hot drinks are not available on the rooftop because it takes too long for them to come up from the kitchen downstairs. Seriously? Our table was in the corner of the garden side and after being told for weeks leading up to our stay that there was absolutely no availability for our party of 6 at all, I was glad we were able to be ‘worked in’ upon arrival. Less glad to see that it was mostly empty at 8pm on a Friday night, making me wonder why this table was so infinitely hard to arrange in advance. There are large vents next to and slightly above the garden bar. Water draining from this system continuously hit us, our table, our drinks, and our food. At first, we thought maybe it was drizzling, until a different server told us it was, in fact, air conditioning moisture blowing into us from the breeze. Moving to another vacant table? Not an option. And the table was later occupied by a couple out of dress code, with no effort made by any member of the staff to enforce it. If you’re going to go out of your way to advise a dress code, at least enforce it. Breakfast the following morning was solid with service scattered, but friendly, and food being fresh. It’s spread across various bars, hallways and conference rooms because of the construction, but the quality has been maintained. ERRONEOUS CHARGES & MAKING IT RIGHT Before retiring for the night, I had a conversation over WhatsApp with the Manager and, ultimately, he offered to provide us complimentary transfers to the port to make our cruise, which we accepted. I appreciated the effort to try and save the experience. Well, when we checked out, the 2 transfers were pre-billed, full price, to our rooms. Furthermore, when we asked, the Front Desk knew nothing about these transfers and needed to make various phone calls to ensure the cars were ready. They reluctantly removed the charges after initially trying to double down that no such offer had been made – even after showing them the WhatsApp conversation with the Manager. Additionally, one room got billed about $10USD for outgoing phone calls from the room – phone calls never made. The only call they made was to another room. We raised this with the front desk who assured us all that a call must have been made and thus the charge remained. We have cell phones. We have international data plans. We’re not making phone calls from the room. BOTTOM LINE Overall, this experience was among the worst hotel stays I’ve encountered from any upscale or luxury brand. To wear the Four Seasons badge is a disservice to the many other FS properties around the world that uphold the standard of excellence that makes travelers seek these locations out. I cannot suggest anyone book this hotel. There are far better choices in Mumbai; reasonably priced hotels that are honest, clean, and comfortable.

Very warm welcoming staffs as soon as you arrived at hotel foyer. Our luggage was unloaded from taxi and safely sent to our rooms. Early check in was possible as we arrived early around mid day. Check in was very smooth. Complementary drink and lunch was provided. Room size was very good and clean. we were provided two rooms on same floor and next to each other on request. All restaurant staffs were very kind and helpful. Specially Chef Biru and Shravani and all the staffs were very kind and helpful. Chauffeur service to near by Mall was complementary and drivers were very helpful and professional. Reception staff and Concierge were also helpful. Overall we enjoyed through out from with lots of food choices during breakfast and dinner at hotel. Location was on main road but near by main downtown. Security in hotel was very good. It would be better if hotel provide free airport transfer like other hotels offer free airport service specially for international travellers arrived late midnight.

We had a wonderful experience! The hotel is always clean and tidy (even during construction!), the staff are warm and knowledgeable, and the location is very convenient. We had a few drivers who all were great about pointing out special sights, and they always had water for us. The meals were all delicious, and the staff will give you advice on daily specials that are worth trying. Everyone's communicative! The rooms are very comfortable -- you'll lack for nothing -- and the atmosphere is warm and peaceful. We had a number of meetings during our visit, and everyone was pleased.

We recently stayed at the Four Seasons Mumbai and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout our entire visit. The level of service was impeccable. What stood out most was how the team consistently went above and beyond in unexpected ways - small thoughtful gestures and attention to detail that made our stay truly special. Nitesh, Vaibhav, Kim and the night manager at Aer were particularly outstanding, but honestly every staff member we encountered was professional, warm, and attentive. The hotel itself is immaculate. The cleanliness standards are exceptional, and the facilities are beautifully maintained. The gym was well-equipped and perfectly suited our needs. The food was outstanding across the board - whether dining in the restaurants or ordering room service, every meal was expertly prepared and delicious. By the end of our stay, we genuinely did not want to leave. The Four Seasons Mumbai has set a new standard for us in hospitality. We are already planning our return visit. If you are looking for a luxury hotel experience in Mumbai that combines world-class facilities with genuinely warm and exceptional service, the Four Seasons is the place to stay.
