Excellent experience

One of the most iconic heritage hotels in India. Fantastic luxurious hotel with one of the best and courteous staff. Booked a sea view room, it was beautiful to see the gateway of india from the room. Wonderful breakfast spread. Don't miss the heritage walk.

Mr. Jitesh, Mr. Ravi & Security Team are an amazing bunch of people.

We had been to the WASABI Japanese restaurant for a meal few days ago. It was a great experience with good food and great service. One of our members forgot his expensive Italian cap in the gents washroom. After an hour, we were pleasantly surprised to get a call from the security team member Mr. Jitesh that it had been found and is in their safe custody. This was remarkable & unbelievable. Late in the night we went back to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, and Mr. Ravi, the security incharge was there and within minutes, he finished the formalities and handed over the cap to the relieve of our colleague. Kudos to the General Manager, the security and housekeeping departments for setting such a beautiful example showing their commitment to honesty, customer service and an admirable work ethic. Request the General Manager of this hotel to acknowledge & appreciate the exemplary dedication displayed by his team in these two departments. Keep up the great work guys, Mumbai city is proud of you.

We had the most amazing time at the Taj Palace, the half day city tour and heritage tour both fantastic. The High tea in Sea Lounge a delicious experience. Would go back in a heartbeat. We really enjoyed our room, very comfortable and also had a fantastic lunch at Souk.

Old world charm

This is an impressive building, both during the day or night, reflecting glory from days past. Stayed for pre cruise and met others who were going on same cruise. Pickup at airport was very good and efficient. Clean comfortable car ride to hotel. Waited at the lounge for staff to check us in. The tea and breakfast at the club lounge had impeccable service, decor and good choice of quality food served by attentive waiters. Given the history and reputation, it did not disappoint. The location is just across from Gate of India and we just have to cross a very busy road to get to the crowds. The room is simple, not big, but nicely decorated in old colony style. The bathroom and lighting can use some renovation, though still functional. To enter hotel, there is security to pass through. Down the hallway is the new part : Taj Tower. We tried to get a taxi to cruise ship terminal there, as instructed by the lobby staff, and the doorman called a taxi for us. We got a taxi through doorman with a fixed price (very acceptable) but the taxi was a disaster. The windows were stuck and taxi was old and dirty. Considering that we got this from the hotel doorman, we got into car, though our only mini suitcases were half on our knees. Luckily, the ride was short. But this left a bad, lasting impression.
