The Taj Mahal Palace

I am a regular guest at Taj hotels and this was not my first stay at the Taj Mahal Palace however on this occasion things really seemed to be creaking under the strain of full occupancy. I was staying in a Taj Club room however early check-in was unavailable when I arrived on Saturday morning (which is understandable as it states this is “subject to availability”). Welcome drinks seem to have gone by the wayside also, at least on that Saturday. On eventual arrival to my room, I telephoned reception to raise an issue and was told the Duty Manager would contact me so I foolishly wasted time waiting in the room. When no contact was made, the issue was again raised at reception some four hours later that evening to again be told “a Duty Manager will speak to you regarding this”. More than 48-hours elapsed without any contact so on Monday evening I demanded to see the Duty Manager in person and also to be provided with the General Manager’s email details which were eventually provided with some reluctance. On Tuesday, I was kindly moved to a suite some 15-hours before I was due to check out from the hotel. On checking out of the hotel I was informed that a copy of my bill would be emailed to me. No such bill has ever arrived and a follow up request to receive it appears to have gone unactioned too. I emailed the General Manager of the hotel, Mr Ritesh Sharma, to note these issues (TMHGM.BOM@TAJHOTELS.COM) however that email too has gone unacknowledged or responded to after 2 weeks. It really is a very poor reflection of the Taj Mahal Palace management because the operations staff throughout the hotel, from waiting staff and pool attendants through to butlers, housekeeping and security guards are all excellent and clearly take great pride in the work that they do (Abhinav in particular was incredibly attentive). It is a hotel that I have always loved visiting and a brand that I have been loyal to for many years however if a very basic tenet of hospitality, reciprocity and respect, is not being shown by levels of management then attentive and professional service will pale in significance and that loyalty may find a new home.

We had a wonderful stay at The Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai to celebrate our anniversary, and it was truly a memorable experience. A very special thank you to Sandeep for making our celebration so beautiful and special. The lovely flower bouquet and beautiful room decoration were such a thoughtful gesture and made our anniversary even more memorable. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the warmth shown by the team throughout our stay. These little personal touches made us feel genuinely special and cared for. The Taj Mahal Palace has a timeless charm, and the hospitality made our anniversary celebration even more meaningful. Thank you, Sandeep, Sagnik and the entire Taj team for creating such beautiful memories for us. We truly appreciate your efforts and look forward to visiting again. ❤️ A wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion!

Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble for him. He always goes above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable, happy, and completely looked after. His kindness, professionalism, and attention to every detail mean so much to us. What makes Sandeep especially remarkable is the way he makes us feel genuinely valued. His care feels personal and sincere, and knowing we can always count on him makes every stay even more enjoyable. He is an outstanding ambassador for the Taj and deserves the highest recognition for the difference he makes to his guests. We sincerely hope the management knows just how much he contributes to our decision to keep coming back. We would also like to thank Salman and Jayesh for their kindness, helpfulness, and attentive service. A special thank you goes to the housekeeping team on our floor for keeping our room so clean, comfortable, and beautifully cared for throughout our stay. We appreciate their hard work, as well as the warm hospitality of the entire team. The Taj Mahal Palace is a wonderful hotel with a wonderful team, but Sandeep holds a very special place in our experience.
