Consider yourselves in good company when you check into the Taj Mahal Palace. With its fantasyscape of Moorish, Oriental and Florentine styles, this architectural marvel has welcomed Maharajas, kings and presidents since opening in 1903. Along with panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the Gateway of India, this spectacular Mumbai landmark boasts vaulted alabaster ceilings, onyx columns, hand-woven silk carpets and a magnificent art collection whose dazzling pieces range from Belgian chandeliers to Goan Christian artifacts.

As a first-time visitor to Mumbai, staying at the Taj Palace, an iconic hotel was a must. We certainly were not disappointed! From being met at the airport to a seamless check-in, nothing is too much trouble. We upgraded to Taj Club, which meant access to the Taj Lounge, a great resource, a sanctuary with complimentary food and drinks served all day. The hotel is as beautiful as it looks. The rooms are sizeable enough for a city break, and there are lots of great restaurants on site. We will definitely return next time we are in Mumbai.

From the moment of arrival, my stay at the Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai was truly unforgettable. The property’s rich heritage and grand architecture make every visit a special experience. What makes the place shine even brighter, however, is its incredible staff. I’d like to especially thank Chandrkant, Dhruv Mistry, and Sandeep Ghuge for their outstanding hospitality and dedication. Their attention to detail, warm demeanor, and willingness to go the extra mile made my stay seamless and memorable. Every interaction felt both personal and professional, showcasing the commitment to guest satisfaction that the Taj is known for. The historical ambiance, combined with modern comforts and legendary service, delivers a luxury experience that is second to none. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to truly experience Mumbai’s heritage with world-class service.

We have stayed at luxury hotels worldwide. I thought the Taj Mahal Palace would be in line with the caliber of hotel that I am accustomed to, but I was very wrong. If I want a mimosa poolside while on vacation, why do I have to wait until 11:30 pm? Or if I am already situated, you are really going to move me to a completely different table to eat and then ask me to move back? At a true luxury property, "no" is not in the vocabulary of the staff. Shubham, at the front desk, was the only person who understood what was expected, given the hotel's reputation. The first day at Sea Lounge, breakfast was beautiful. Each subsequent day got worse with less attention and more ordered items forgotten about. For example, on our last day, my coffee was delivered after I finished my meal, despite being the first thing I ordered. Most places we have stayed at know our breakfast routines after the first day, let alone the second. Further proof that the property isn't up to its expected standards. The space at Harbour Bar was nearly empty with ridiculously loud music playing for the number of people in the room. When asked about seating preferences, I just said wherever was quietest so that I could converse with my partner over drinks. The way the staff member reacted was as if I had insulted his mom. I'll never forget his reaction to the simplest request. The lack of clarity regarding the food and beverage credit was extremely frustrating and actually felt deceitful and scammy. In the process of changing rooms, I lost the list of benefits that came with the AMEX Fine Hotels Collection. I spoke to the front desk staff at least three times to clarify where and how to use this credit. Not once was I verbally told that the credit only applied to nonalcoholic drinks. This was not on the booking website. The only place it was written was in the fine print on the sheet of paper I signed when I checked in at 3 am. You would think that when I asked if the credit applied to all outlets besides Wasabi and Loya, it would include Harbour Bar. However, not at the Taj Palace Mumbai. The secret, hidden exclusion also includes Harbour Bar. What a surprise! The icing on the cake is that alcoholic beverages were reimbursed on the prior reservation but were refused on the subsequent one. Because of the inflexibility of the staff to accommodate my change in plans, two reservations were made via Amex, and so I got two credits to use. The short-sightedness of your staff towards their international guests is laughable. Great, you all saved (scammed) $100. The people who stay at this type of hotel do have high net worths, including myself. You should treat them all with the utmost care and respect. Not with deceit and underhandedness. I love luxury travel. I love the care that hotels like the Aman, Cheval Blanc, and Capella show their guests to make them truly feel at home. My colleagues are also high-income individuals and families in the luxury travel space. I am active in multiple forums related to this hobby of mine. This will be our last stay with the Taj Hotel Group, and we will recommend that others stay elsewhere as well.

An absolutely amazing hotel. The location alone makes a stay at the Taj really worthwhile but I would say what I loved the most would have to have been a choice between the luxurious ambiance of the hotel with its beautiful rooms or the friendly, dedicated and hard working staff. Apart from that really don’t need to venture out as the choice of restaurants and delicious, affordable dining is right inside the hotel. A well appointed gym and inviting swimming pool were also appreciated. All in all a home away from home but even better!
