Huge room, but not perfect
We had a flying visit here for two nights, it’s such a grand and historic building in an amazing location. Our room is possibly the largest we have ever had and reasonably priced for this type of hotel. The amenities were good. The harbour bar is worth a visit, but try the signature cocktail. The areas that need attention was the maintenance and the service. Peeling paint everywhere, it’s hard to combat in historic hotels but many succeed and the hot water was intermittent. The service was mostly friendly and well meaning but it was far from the best service in India. The hostess on the sea lounge during our stay couldn’t have looked more grumpy and acted as such if she tried. We opted from that moment to exclusively use the palace lounge. It’s the first 50best we have questioned its position. That said we would recommend, maybe out expectations were high with such history and acclaim.

Best Property with highest level of service and Hospitality
From the time we stepped into the hotel till we left, we were spoilt with a service that I consider par excellence and the best in the world. The rooms were comfortable and nicely laid. The staff was courteous and always smiling. The rooms were well maintained. The food was tasty and well made. One of the best properties with the best of services and hospitality bundled in one. Keep up the great legacy and work. Cannot wait to come back to the property as soon as possible.
