We stayed at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost for two nights, and while there were certainly some positives, the overall experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations of a luxury hotel. The biggest disappointment was the location. While it’s extremely convenient if you’re planning lots of train travel, as it’s right next to Munich Central Station, it’s not the ideal location for tourists looking to enjoy the city. The area around the station is busy, noisy, and currently surrounded by significant construction. It’s not the kind of hotel where you can simply step outside and enjoy a pleasant stroll or an easy walk through Munich. As a Chase The-Edit Collection guest, we were also disappointed with the arrival experience. Despite emailing the hotel in advance about our early arrival and politely requesting an upgrade, we were unable to check in early and had to wait about an hour and a half. There was no welcome amenity, no room upgrade, and unfortunately we were assigned a room facing a warehouse building - the least desirable view possible. Almost felt like a downgrade from a standard-room perspective as well. The front-desk staff also seemed not-so-friendly. Silvia, as a front-desk manager, could surely be more welcoming towards the guests. Overall, the check-in and check-out experience at the front desk is the real reason behind the low-rating and not so great experience. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the breakfast. The quality and variety of the food were excellent, but even more impressive was the breakfast staff. Jeffery was a wonderful host. T.Le was smiling and friendly - one of the best servers I have ever seen. Natalia, on the second day, was equally impressive. They were genuinely warm, attentive, and always greeted us with smiling faces, making every morning a pleasure. The hospitality at the breakfast was the brightest part of our stay. Overall, Sofitel Munich Bayerpost is a practical choice if your priority is easy access to the train station or taking day trips from Munich. However, if you’re visiting Munich primarily to enjoy the city’s atmosphere and are expecting a luxury hotel experience that matches its reputation, there may be better options.

Really enjoyed my stay here, and would highly recommend. The hotel is well located for most people, right by the Hauptbahnhof if you’re coming from the airport on the S-Bahn. As it was summer, I spent the weekend strolling and cycling pretty much anywhere I wanted to go. The room was great and spacious. The breakfast was broad and better than some. Service across the board was high quality. I booked through Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts, and note this because the treatment was particularly good - immediate noting of the credit, explaining what it could be used for, and upgrading to the next room category. Didn’t get a chance to use the spa so can’t comment on that. Next time!

The hotel location is next to the train station which lots of reviews mentioned as a good thing. I certainly didn’t think so, that area was particularly dirty and not pleasant. The hotel was nice but not worth the money, rooms were dated and very average

Based on the many negative reviews, I was expecting to be underwhelmed. My experience was exactly the opposite. The staff was welcoming and helpful, my room was clean, modern and comfortable (amazing bed and bedding) and the overall experience was exactly what I would expect from any Virtuoso member hotel. The location was perfect, especially considering I arrived by train. It was also walkable to most of Munich's iconic sites. I recommend the Sofitel Munich with confidence.
