Grand Hyatt Muscat

My family, including four young children had an excellent day at the Grand Hyatt Muscat. The remodeled pool area with the Children’s pool, splash pad, and lazy river is fantastic. The hotel is situated on a public beach and there was convenient access to the beach, which was also fun for our children. There was no nuisance from it being adjacent to a public beach and walkway. In fact, it was nice to walk out along the path and down to several restaurants at a nearby complex. We called ahead and were able to get adjoining rooms for our family of six. The buffet in the lobby restaurant was a great value and a great experience every morning. The staff throughout the hotel were exceptionally attentive and great throughout our hotel stay. The club access during the day and for evening cocktail hour was an excellent perk (although it should be noted that children under 12 are not allowed in the club/lounge during cocktail hour 6 to 8 PM). The location of the hotel is quite convenient for the city. We were able to easily drive to some nearby, museums and attractions. The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

This place is a dump. The room isn't clean, the desk light doesn't work, there are only 2 single electrical outlets available for use in the entire room and one of these requires disconnecting a floor lamp (and moving furniture), (rather amusingly, the clock has the 16 pin connector for 20 year old iPods, if you can believe that), room service is weirdly slow and the buffet breakfast is gross, in fact it killed my appetite ,and then there's the environmental control system in the room which apparently is just for display since the room temp never varies from 21 degrees C regardless of the user settings.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Security Staff Dear Grand Hyatt Hotel Management, Yesterday, after 3 AM, I had just left Eleven Bar and came to your hotel intending to book a room. While I was in my car arranging the booking on my phone, a security guard knocked aggressively on my car window and rudely told me to reduce the music and leave. I understand and respect your parking rules, but the way he approached me was disrespectful and unprofessional. He could have explained the rules politely instead of behaving aggressively. I was a potential customer intending to book a room, and this experience left me with a very negative impression of your hotel. I kindly request that management investigate this incident and ensure that visitors are treated with courtesy and respect. Kind regards

location is great and right by the beach, the infinity pool has been upgraded recently and offers great views of the ocean. the staff is excellent and very responsive. the rooms are large and well done up but they have become a bit dated now, i was told the rooms are under renovation and all rooms would have a fresh look soon. great place to be in muscat.

Title: Great location, but in urgent need of renovation The Grand Hyatt Muscat has clearly seen better days. You can tell that it was once one of the city’s grand hotels, but today the entire property feels dated and stuck in the 1980s. There is carpet almost everywhere, the interiors feel old and no longer carefully maintained, and the bathrooms are in serious need of refurbishment. The lighting in the room was also very poor. There was mainly indirect lighting, which made the room feel rather dark, especially in the evening. The hotel’s strongest point is its excellent location. However, considering the condition of the property, I do not feel that the price offers good value for money. For a similar rate, Muscat has several much more modern and comfortable hotels. A complete renovation could bring this hotel back to its former glory, but in its current condition, it is not somewhere I would choose to stay again.
