andBeyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp
Masai Mara
Nairobi, Kenya
The most amazing tented lodge. We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas. We had stayed before and so we knew what to expect. It is absolutely 1st class from the moment they pick you up from the air strip. Nothing is too much trouble. The team are professional, friendly, kind and caring. We loved every single part of it. The rooms and facilities and bathrooms are superb, the food is expectional, the atmosphere is tranquil and fabulous. The high tea before the evening game drive is 1st class. We will be using the @Beyond company for other holidays around the world. They deserve positive feedback and good reviews on every aspect. They've nailed it

We were recently on honeymoon and our first safari destination was &Beyond Kichwa Tembo tented camp in the Masai Mara of Kenya. What a wonderful and amazing experience! The lodge is located next to the Kicha Tembo airstrip and situated in a beautiful forest filled with many animals, in particular hyrax and bush babies at night, making it an intimate safari bush experience! Our rooms were beautiful and fully equipped with all the luxuries you can only dream of while on safari. Our room attendant - Renson - made sure that our laundry was done everyday and that our room was perfect. Our favourite spot at the lodge was the bar area and the swimming pool. The bar staff - Siva, Moses, Johnston and everyone else made sure that we always had a drink! The Dawa is definitely one to try! Our butler, Joel always made sure that we had the best table as honeymooners and he made sure that our experience was amazing and unforgettable. The guest experience managers, Ruth, David, and Barak always checked in on us and made sure that we were doing good. We loved exchanging stories of local Kenya with Ruth around the fire. We booked a deep tissue massage in our room with Silvia. I can honestly say it was one of the best massages I have ever had - and I am an experienced spa-goer. Last but not the least, our &beyond guide Chris made sure that our safari and game drive expectations were not only met but exceeded. We were lucky to have a private vehicle with only us and Chris. Chris first met us at the airstrip and welcomed us with a “bush coffee” and cookies. He made the experience so wonderful - and not at all “rushed and commercialised” as we heard the migration areas might be. Chris has significant knowledge of the wild and all the bird species. By merely seeing a distressed giraffe, Chris got the feeling that there might be something around - that is how we located a pride of lions! We also had a lovely breakfast in the bush - not only is Chris an excellent guide, but a very good cook! We would definitely recommend &Beyond Kichwa Tembo tented camp to anyone! We will definitely return and will miss them in the meanwhile.

We had the most amazing time here and when they say ‘welcome home’ on arrival they mean it, the people working there were the most lovely people, they don’t ‘serve’ you, they get to know you, they tell you interesting stories and are interested to know who you are. We were a family of 4, kids 9 and 7 and my son cried as we flew off and could see our fame driver still waving to us. Our game driver Zack was fantastic, so knowledgeable, above all always felt he respected the animals and the environment. He made it his mission to spot what we most wanted to see (we saw all the big 5!) with a constant supply of cookies for the kids (!) and there’s nothing like having breakfast out in the wild watching a herd of buffalo. We stayed in a family tent which huge. Beautifully decorated, the nicest shower and the delivery of coffee/hot chocolate before the morning game drive was amazing. The last morning we didn’t go out early and all 4 of us lay in our huge double drinking our drinks watching the monkeys swinging in the trees. The food was amazing. Not a single bad meal and whilst my son would eat anything, my daughter is so fussy but the chef went out his way to make things for her. My son even helped him in the kitchen We have been very lucky to stay in some fantastic places but this one really tops it for us. We’d love to stay again but 3 nights absolute minimum (we only did 2 and not enough!!)

I was really disappointed with the property. The food was not great, service lacking and the rooms were extremely average.

The safari and accommodation were excellent. There were no mosquitoes- I only saw a dead one. The service was amazing. Coffee delivered to your tent in the morning. Laundry done for you. Personal server for your meals. The food could have been a bit better. They had a lot of stews that I didn’t try though. We found out the last day they had a pool menu for hamburgers and fries. Nicholas Ratia our guide was amazing and is on TikTok. That man can drive a jeep. He would do everything in his power to get the best view of an animal. Bring a sports bra and warm clothes. It was cold and windy in the mornings but they provide blankets.
