Wonderful experience at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We finished our African safari journey at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safai Club, and could not have asked for a more relaxing, welcoming and beautiful atmosphere! The staff was very accommodating and gracious, and a special thank you to Lalampaa who helped us in the restaurant after a tiring trip from Nairobi, and subsequent meals. The grounds are gorgeous and the view of Mount Kenya is stunning!

Paradise on the foothills of Mt Kenya.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Here’s a more natural and personal version: Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club is genuinely one of the best places I have ever stayed. Set at the foothills of Mount Kenya, the views are absolutely breathtaking, and there is so much to do that every day feels special. The highlight of our stay was the horseback safari, which I experienced with my two children. Riding through the conservancy and seeing rhinos, giraffes and the rare golden zebras—found only at the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy—was something we will never forget. It truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The resort also has a lovely nine-hole golf course and an animal orphanage, which is home to a lion, a leopard and several other animals. These unique experiences make the hotel much more than just a place to stay. What really made our visit exceptional, however, was the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Peter looked after our room wonderfully throughout our stay and always made sure we were comfortable. Chef Ashok also went above and beyond for our family, preparing delicious vegetarian dishes as well as an incredible mutton curry especially for us. From the beautiful surroundings and unforgettable wildlife encounters to the outstanding food and service, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club exceeded all our expectations. It is a truly special destination that I would wholeheartedly recommend.

Best service I ever received in a hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The best hotel I have ever stayed in. The location was magical, the staff were beyond exceptional, to name just a few and I am sorry I left others out but Lincoln, Rodrick, Vivienne were all so attentive and always greeted by name, Kamata our tour guide on the safari was unbelievably knowledgable and fun. Christine in the orphanage was so full of passion and also had extensive knowledge about the animals there. The staff seemed to treat each guest like they were the only guest there. Truly amazing. My wife is vegan and there was LOTS of options. Mostly very obvious but one dinner it wasn’t obvious and they also had dairy labled for typically non dairy Indian food however upon request the chef basically could make any food you felt like! Allergies were very clearly labeled. The room was also so nice, I had a really nice birthday message and hand written card and every night the fire was lighting and hot water bottles were in the bed. So cosy. While the room was a little dated it just added to the character as it is an old building. I would however suggest adding usb enabled sockets, a towel rack between the two sinks (easier then dripping water across the floor) and maybe a coat hook in the hallway (slightly more convenient then wardrobe). However these are all very minor suggestions to enhance an already magical experience.

Best staff in Africa!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Stayed here for over a week in June/July with a multigenerational family group (ages 18-80) and had the most fantastic time! The hotel is just beautiful, truly luxurious and classy. I have travelled extensively and stayed in many hotels around the world, and this is right up there as truly world class! The outstanding thing about this hotel for us was not even the exquisite accommodation, food and surroundings: it was the staff. We couldn’t have been made more welcome or comfortable, and everyone is meticulous in doing their job perfectly. Any of them could ace it at a Fairmont or Four Seasons in any city in the world (and probably teach the locals a thing or two about hospitality). We really enjoyed our fun conversations and warm greetings with everyone, and just felt so well cared-for, which was especially important to me traveling with my 80 yo mother. Every detail was considered and attended to for her comfort, ranging from special steps to get in and out of our safari vehicle to a custom day trip with 4wD that enabled her to see and enjoy a hard-to-access forest, to being assigned the cottage closest to the main building so we had minimal walking to meals. The food was outstanding (thank you, Chef Das and Chefs Peter, Laureene and others) and restaurant staff were amazing (thank you Angeline, Paul, Nelly, Miano, Elizabeth, Daniel, Francis, William, intern Vivian, Amanda, Olive, Lalampaa, Christine and the other lovely team members whose names are escaping me momentarily). Housekeeping and turndown were perfect every day. Samson Omondi is an exceptional concierge and organiser who truly contributed to a special stay for us. And we give a heartfelt recommendation for our guide and driver Elijah Kamata, who was not only expert in animals/natural history and a terrific driver, but also a great guide to local culture - and absolutely brilliant fun throughout! We laughed a lot throughout our stay and loved every minute. Elijah is also a talented photographer who proactively positions the vehicle for the best view and best shots, which really added to our experience. We will be back!!

Worthwhile moments at Fairmont Mt. Kenya

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This is a gem to keep in the to do list of your travel, just at the foot of Mt. Kenya. It is an amazing place, with a rich history, beautiful gardens and numerous activity offerings. The reception is outstanding, and I would like to single out and recognize Justus Maina for his exemplary turn down services; he turned the moments into memories. Food was awesome and the room was fantastic very cozy, tidy, quiet and well kept. Looking forward to coming back for more, especially with family and friends, it was a great experience.
